About
Immerse yourself in the history of Ancient Egypt with 50 missions in Pharaoh™: A New Era, a remake of Pharaoh (and the expansion Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile), one of the best city builders from the golden age of Sierra Entertainment. Stone by stone, build your city and manage all aspects of its development to ensure it prospers and makes you a powerful and revered pharaoh.

Develop your city by cultivating the fertile lands along the banks of the Nile valley. Erect the iconic monuments of Ancient Egypt, including the pyramids, the Sphinx and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Build temples and mausoleums to help manage all aspects of your city's health and culture as well as the predominant polytheistic religion of the time.
Ensure your city is prosperous enough to deal with economic or political crises, or even plundering by enemies. A pharaoh takes care of its people and does whatever it can to earn the favour of the gods.

Pharaoh™: A New Era celebrates 20 years since the release of the famous franchise with a complete remake, including more than 50 playable missions and over 100 hours of gameplay.
The "Campaign" mode teaches you the game basics while allowing you to experience a unique story in the heart of Ancient Egypt. Explore all aspects of life in a thriving city, build and manage all its fundamental elements to ensure it flourishes: the economy, internal and external trade, culture, health, agriculture, education, etc.

The journey back in time is really brought to life with this new version, which upgrades the gameplay mechanics to modern standards and completely redesigns the captivating soundtrack and gorgeous isometric 2D graphics.
Many indicators have also been added or improved: keep better track of the frequency or quality of the Nile's floods with the Nilometer, or don't lose sight of your population's mood with some unique new tools!

Reviews
This game was one of the starting points in my game history. This new release loses so much of the fun from the original. The battles... FFS what type of bollocks is this, letting AI fight for you when the fun of the original game was the battles, moving your troops for ambush or to flank. Now it's boring as hell. It was redone as a nostalgic cash grab & nothing more.
This is good! The walls and towers now have a purpose, the military is flatter, but at the same time it is more challenging than killing everything with two squads of archers. I like all the changes, to be honest. I haven't encountered any technical issues in the last 20 hours of gameplay. Strongly recommend!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This was probably amazing on original release a couple of decades ago and is (I imagine) a fairly faithful remake of that original, but unless you have nostalgia for the original game I'd give this a miss. Compared to contemporary colony sims/city builders, there's a lot of QoL stuff missing and a lot of annoying/antiquated mechanics. Eg, when a fire burns down a building with a complex configuration, you have to manually recreate and reconfigure it. Lots of minor pet peeves and points of friction. In saying that I've logged 13 hours of gameplay - if there was a way to post a "5/10" kinda score I'd do that instead. It's "fine", but there are better alternatives if you don't have this particular flavour of nostalgia.
I was a little concerned going into this game as I am a massive original Pharoh fan, i played sooo mucch of it when i was young, BUT this game is almost perfect. Its the game I love with a few quality of life improvements and its fantastic. There have been many HD remakes of games that just dont wory but this isnt one of them. Amazing game now with HD GFX awsome. There are a few things I have noticed that are different to the original but they are very small - The police done kill the crocodiles?? im pretty sure they did in the original - The bazar delivery ladies take items from the granry / storage that they dont need. For example i could be at the start of the game and they are taking treasure from the storage yard. Pretty sure they only took what they needed at that current housing level in the original. - I used to build the houses 4 tiles across with roads on either side in the original but that dosnt work in this version i have to do rows of 2. Not a big deal i very quickly adapted but its just something i noticed. - All the walls / towers are pointless in this version with the change in combat system right? as no troops attack the city. This are very small problems in what is a fantastic remake.
Having played the last game endlessly for many years and knowing every crevice of the game, I have concluded that this was a completely pointless remake. Reasons: -Buggy a.f (seems like it was rushed to finish?) -Graphics are worse? Am I going crazy? There is actually less detail on the houses and buildings!?? This gets too much prasie imo. -Laggy/clunky gameplay. When I move around or go to place a building it almost feels 24/7 laggy -Sound effects. Some sound effects have been added that are super loud and repetitive/mega annoying e.g the arrows to kill birds (had to turn sfx vol down which isn't an issue in the old game) -Interface is harder to use. All by tiny image and you have to hover to see it. -Resolution. For some reason the game refuses to work with my laptop resolution and causes in game issues (old game works fine) -Improvements. Literally the only thing I have found to be an improvement if the beautification options, which is purely a visual bonus to the game. Oh wait there is another improvement - you can turn a building sideways. Not 4 ways though, that would have been too much effort, just 2 ways. -Cinematic. Least important but goes to show it's in no way an upgrade. In the original the cinematic was beautiful for it's time, with powerful music and had a STORY. If I would take months or even years out of the game I would re-watch the cinematic every time. With this one I have 0 reason to - it's basic, boring and pointless. Sorry for being harsh - it is one of my favourite games of all time and I was genuinely excited about this. But yeah...if you're going to "revamp" a game....you kind of actually need to improve it in some way, not make it worse. Pharoah + Cleopatra is on steam and I would 100% recommend that if you like oldschool games/want the nostalgia.
So macht suchen Spaß. Dann viele, viele Statistiken, Grafen, Zahlen.. toll. Alles in allem, nein, keine Empfehlung.
Так же хорошо, как и 25 лет назад
Loved the original, had hundreds of hours into it when I was younger, but this looks like a soulless mobile game compared to the original, especially with the way the sprites walk. I was really looking forward to a modernized version that works better on modern PCs, but there was a certain charm to the old 3D models that's just gone now. Wasn't able to get more than a few minutes into it because the animations were so off-putting. :(
Ubeliavable what the developers did. And I do not mean it in a good way. The game is grate, it is pharaoh copy so duh! But imagine you do not need to be inventing anything new. Just make modernized copy. Yet you introduce bug after bug. And not small ones like worker getting stuck or something. No. The game constantly messes up saves. Once it can't recognise all saves. So the game starts to behave like a clean install. Other times it just messes some saves so instead the game sending you to next mission it jumps random number of missions back... Ubeliavable. And trust me, it took all the effort I got in me to not use meaner word. Un-F-ing-beleivable. (I meant freaking off course wink wink...)
