it good, nice bf1-eqsue ww1 sim
This review is overall for the WW1 series Verdun, Tannenburg, Isonzo, and now Gallipoli. Overall Great series, while i have the most hours in Verdun and Tannenburg due to the length of the time they've been released I would estimate that the Gallipoli and Isonzo additions are significant upgrades to the original. I feel few games come close to creating fast paced, enjoyable, and closer to realism aspects of WW1 combat than do the titles in this series. Ranking these games I would have to say Isonzo is my overall favorite (8.4/10) - its quick and easy to pick up. The maps are the very best and its game modes I find the most enjoyable. It's style of attacker-defender objective based combat is augmented by the ability to build defenses and call in a variety of support options. The tickets based attacker system is also very enjoyable as offensives get desperate as casualties mount. Verdun (7.6/10) is my second favorite title in the series, its game mode style of both sides functioning as attacker and defender is quite enjoyable even if it lacks the fancier aspects of the newer titles. This game has the greatest weapon/ squad variety and the maps are heavily focused upon the most desperate trench fights of the war. Gallopoli (7.0/10) has the most unique game mode including landings, the gunplay is well put together. I find the maps are not quite as interesting to me as previous titles with some containing nothing more than open desert-- which is of course true to the nature of that conflict. Overall good game that I would recommend to those looking to play something with more modern game mechanics. Tannenburg (7.2/10) is very enjoyable with excellent maps and fun game mechanics of an almost open objective based map where sides can flank and surround each other. Some maps are more entrenched than others and this game probably has the heaviest emphasis on melee next to the Verdun title.
The atmosphere and voice acting are good. The game starts quickly and there are live players inside. However, the character's pace is very slow. Weapons and enemy tracking are very poor. There are strange pauses; for example, after building fences, you can't move for a while, and the reason is unclear. A Unity Crash popup appears when closing the game.
