About
The island is alive! Your newfound home will change with day/night cycles as you explore and uncover its secrets. Hunt (or be hunted by!) animals for food and an array of mythical enemies, who aren’t necessarily pleased to see you. Get quests from a Mysterious Stranger or find them washed up on the shore. Prepare to trek into a procedurally generated wilderness, with a variety of biomes, for an adventure that’s unique to every player.
Finding the perils of island life too much or just looking to share your building expertise with friends? The Survivalists has you covered! Complete joint adventures, gain loot, trade and ultimately survive together and as you and up to three fellow castaways explore fantastical islands.
If you’re in need of a builder, a lumberjack or even a soldier, the monkeys on the island can be tamed and trained to help you with everyday tasks or back you up on raids to a fanatic camp! The Mimic System means a wide variety of functions can be performed by your cheeky new friends, with monkey management becoming key to surviving the island’s challenges.
The secret to survival is to make the most of the resources around you. Whether that’s piecing together a primitive axe to chop wood or mixing up a refreshing fruit smoothie to keep the hunger at bay, you can discover recipes and expand your options across food, item or structure crafting trees.
Looking for an epic sword to hang on your hut wall or want to lay waste to encroaching hostiles? What you seek could be in one of the many temples scattered around the island. However, getting your hands on the loot won’t be easy so any would-be raiders will need to prepare for their treasure hunting escapades.

I picked up this game a long time ago and only recently decided to return to it and complete a full playthrough. I'm not sure why I initially gave up on it, but I mostly enjoyed the most recent playthrough. On the surface, it is a survival, crafting, and base building game. Every action from building, to crafting, to fighting, requires interaction by the player. Thankfully, there are monkeys scattered all around the islands that you can train to perform your menial tasks. In fact, if you tell your survivor to do a task that requires extended time to complete, the survivor complains and says "can't a monkey do this?." This can occur even before you have any monkeys which breaks immersion a little but it's fine. I played solo through the entire game. It can be played coop but that isn't required. I died a few times, and some of the corpse runs I went on were annoying. Still, the map isn't very large so it's not too bad if you have to build another raft to travel to your corpse. In the mid-game you get teleporters which make travel almost trivial. Your monkeys can die but they respawn fairly quickly. They can fight alongside you with any weapon you are capable of crafting or finding. They can chop trees, dig for dirt and sand, mine minerals, and gather all sorts of items. However, they can only have one job at a time. I told a monkey to dig up some sand for me. I came back an hour later and found a giant pile of about 500 sand and a monkey standing in the center begging for a shovel. The game is fun overall. There are a few flaws I found, though. - Combat is very repetitive. Slap, dodge roll, repeat. - Ranged weapons do almost zero damage to harder enemies. I think bows are meant to be equipped by your monkeys so they can do a little bit of damage while you smack at things with a big stick (or a sharp sword). - All items (except the legendary items) wear down very quickly. Expect to need multiple main weapons to clear the big dungeons. - It's almost a requirement to have a monkey or three follow you around carrying a chest to augment your inventory. There are SO many items and item variations in the game that every time you go out to gather materials or clear a dungeon, you'll have dozens of different items that need to be stored. I've filled up multiple large chests in a single dungeon. It doesn't help that I'm a loot junkie, but still. - The chest-based inventory system is good (especially setting up monkeys to allow crafting from nearby chests). That being said, unless you personally place all items in specific chests, the monkeys don't do a very good job of organizing. If you tell them to move items from the ground to a chest, they'll do it. That is, until there is a new item or an item that you have 0 stored. At that point, the monkeys just dump them into the nearest chest. It would be nice to be able to filter chests by item type. That would make finding specific items a lot easier. Given there are several dozen crafting items and variations of each of those, and random loot and food items, the storage options are limiting and sometimes very annoying. - The NPCs in the game are somewhat helpful but the items they sell don't respawn. They really should. Even in the very late game, I found myself needing materials that are not farmable. I'd run across an entire island looking for a specific item (I'm looking at you, fruit) and only get enough to make 2-3 food items. There are some food processors that allow you to "upgrade" one food type into another, but the ratios are terrible and some of them require items you can't plant in your farms. Despite pointing out the flaws, the game is fun and worth a playthrough. The ending is ... not great. It doesn't make me want to replay it. That's fine, though. I think I've gotten as much enjoyment as I wanted and expected out of it. Make sure to step into the light at the end of each of the main dungeons, even if you don't teleport out. I found out I was missing a major quest item when I tried to finish the game and had to replay every dungeon until I found the item I was missing. I got it on the third full dungeon. The items in question spawn after you beat the dungeon boss. They appear in a shaft of light that serves as a teleporter out of the dungeon. Great if you walk into the light to teleport out. Terrible if you go back to explore the rest of the dungeon and leave via the main entrance without stepping into the teleporter. Here is a bit of helpful advice: Don't fix the galleon (big ship) at the center of the map. It doesn't do anything until the very end of the game and only serves to drain you of resources before then. Use the hard-earned and crafted resources you have to make stuff you need.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 19: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I remember playing this game a long time ago and yeah I decided to make this review in the hopes they would fix the gameplay fatal bugs but after seeing them release a new DLC after so many years have passed. Nahhh...I'm sorry I don't recommend buying this game because the bugs it has will ruin your time and effort playing this. The bugs themselves WILL leave you cursing it out because there is a bug where you can get stuck in a cave and the door portals will not work which is essentially the only areas to get ore and special minerals. There isn't anything you can do about it nor does restarting the game help because it forces you to save and quit. You could do a force restart but imagine losing hrs of gameplay / building because of a bug that the Devs gave up on. They abandoned this goldmine of a game and have the gall to release a new DLC for it without fixing any of the gameplay bugs. It's a great concept and the gameplay is great!! But...the bugs is what ruined the experience for me I couldn't even finish it.
Played this solo and honestly had a blast. The monkey mechanics are the highlight, having them automate tasks is super satisfying, and I liked that I didn't have to rely on them for combat in dungeons... well, sometimes I had to. Progression felt balanced. It got a little repetitive at one point, but once I found the ship and had a clear final objective, that feeling went away. Also, this was my first time really trying a pixel art game and I was surprised by how much depth it has; it doesn't feel simple at all. Definitely planning to go back for a co-op run with friends. Super recommended.
Very fun, but not an entirely refreshing experience. Gameplay loop will eventually get to you, as the mechanics (and, consequently, the "grind") get pretty straight forward very quickly. The controls and the combat seem a bit janky, and the game isn't without a quirky bug here and there. However, the castaway setting has seldom been properly displayed in a video game, and the overall feel, sound and environment of the game are truly spetacular. Adding the colouring palette, the different NPC's and fauna, as well as the different biomes, and The Survivalists becomes an enjoyable experience (at least for some time).
Not terrible, but not great. First of all, it feels like the developer's ambition waned dramatically - maybe they were against hard deadlines or just got tired of spending time on this, but it has a general feeling of being sort of half done. To be clear, the game mechanics and everything are complete and playable, but there have been moments where it felt like maybe they wanted to do a lot more with it than they did, or at least I saw a lot of potential for making it a more robust, interesting game. It became fairly repetitive about halfway through the nearly 50 hours I've played it. I don't regret playing it, but if I didn't care about getting all the crafting recipes and completing the main story (really not much of a story, just tasks to complete), then I would have probably given up after about 15 hours. I like the idea of having monkeys complete repetitive tasks for you and it comes in especially handy as you get to the tougher areas - the monkeys will gang up on mobs like they're jumping them into their gang and you can just sit back and let them chop away. The unfortunate part is that the mechanics of selecting a monkey and "teaching" them what to do is cumbersome (on PC with keyboard, anyway), You can teach the monkeys to pick up things on the grouns and put them in chests, but don't bother if you value any semblance of organization - they will just throw things in chests will-nilly. I guess the good news is they can be trained to get ingredients for recipes out of the chests as well, but if they need to switch items, they'll drop what they're holding on the ground. The most frustrating thing for me was that if you hold <space> to pick up all items and walk past your monkeys you will inadvertently give them whatever your cursor is on in your inventory - easily fixed by mapping the key to something else, but felt like a major oversight for both functions to have the same keypress. Last minor complaint is the mob pathing and timing feels a little bit rigged, bats are particularly annoying unless your monkey gang is with you. You have to time them perfectly or they'll hit you and fly away and hit you again, ad nauseum. Overall, I couldn't really recommend the game unless you are a serious crafting addict, but even then, there isn't much substance here to satisfy those who love crafting games. I'd consider buying a sequel if it were much more robust and had more variety.
