S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope

I really enjoyed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope overall. It has a few flaws, but there is a lot to like here. The atmosphere is still one of the strongest parts of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. The music and ambient sounds are excellent, and the new locations are great. Iron Forest was definitely one of my favorites. The improved weather effects also add a lot to the atmosphere and make the world feel more alive. At the same time, sound positioning can sometimes be inaccurate. There were situations where it was difficult to tell where a mutant was or how close it actually was. It's not a major issue, but it can be pretty frustrating during combat. I also have mixed feelings about the graphics changes. Some things look noticeably better, especially the weather effects, but some areas now feel a bit too colorful and saturated. Personally, I prefer the more grey and muted look of the original game. The “Shadows of the Past” mission was probably my least favorite part of the DLC. As someone who is terrible at navigating and remembering locations, this mission caused me a lot of pain and suffering. 😅 Luckily, it was just one part of the DLC, and the game got back to being great afterwards. Despite these issues and the small bugs that are still present, I really liked the DLC. The developers are actively fixing the bugs, and nothing seriously affected my experience. The story was enjoyable, and I especially liked the Freedom ending. Overall, I'd give Cost of Hope an 8/10. I had a great time with it. It's a very solid addition to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and absolutely worth the price.

LOVE THIS DLC!

A bit buggy, but otherwise excellent. Mavka is a blue-eyed, red-haired beauty. Of course, I joined Freedom. The spatial bubble reminded me of a lot of things. The environment was like the movie Prince of Darkness. What a depressing place to die! Like Divinity: Original Sin 2, it has death fog and puzzles that reminded me of Portal and Atomic Heart. Really wonderful stuff! The Amok mutant reminds me of the Siblings in Undying. You couldn't kill them off unless their backs were turned first. Excellent weapons, particularly the Arev and SIC battle rifles. I'm not sure what good the Oasis at the new Freedom base will amount to but I love the sunflowers. Highly recommended. 10/10.
