Railroads Online started out promising. But this game has had nothing but trouble its entire devolopment. From homophobic team members, to the original team getting booted out and replaced by the current studio, to the producer completely abandoning the game and leaving the studio completely in the dark. Avoid this game. Its not worth your time. Save your money and wait for Century Of Steam or play Railroader.
amazing concept, terrible execution, so terrible, that a roblox game outclassed it, for only 5 dollars compared to this horrid 35 dollar dumpster fire of a game, with optimization so bad it makes early access ark survival evolved look good do not even bother getting this game it exists for 1000x cheaper on roblox and its called steam & steel trust me.. even if it looks a little jank, it is literally everything this game is offering, better handled and more

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Do not buy! This game hasn't been updated for almost 1.5 years at the time of this review. There's a lot of jank mechanics and bugs that still need to be fixed in the game. It's a dead game. Great idea but poorly executed then forgotten.
Its dead. Loved it like a dog but the devs shot it :(
Where to begin on this poor polished turd of a tired dev group that took on too much and released a hot pile of hotdog water, No communication , buttsore over posts from people trying to give feed back, toxic community ( can be) simply i love this game its fun enjoy the loop of it, but Mp Is a hottmess of A** even a year later and still yet no updates no hot fixes nothing, cause they tired, simple fix add in modd support stop making games and go be a bum then, Fundamentals are wicked physics are good, track laying industry hook up is pretty solid minus a few industry buildings need updating for diff style for track options, Performance Needs attention, graphics needs attention , more attention to the train physics And god forbid do not play mp it is a disaster waiting to happen, From being kicked from the train n pretty much locked out of it while train is in motion , to just a fulll derailment out of nowhere when the track was fine the other 1000 times you rolled over iit, The devs pushed to hard for console imo and stopped updating the pc and rerealesed a unstable mess, ive gotten a few hours in the game i enjoy it but when the devs jus money dump and piss off im sorry you should be held responsable to the people buying the game, Shape up or ship out, fix this game before Century of steam Comes out i can promise you will loose big time , im sure the devs will delete my review, cause the salt in the wide gaping wound will make them cry, stand up n fix this dam game almost a year later since realease and your Vaca isnt deserrved do youre JOB, other then the rant, solid idea but lack of game developement is around anymore, 50$ more like 15 it should be and should still be in EA not 1.0
Abandoned game :(
I really, REALLY wanted to like this game. It has some things going for it. It looks good and the physics are decent, but where this game really let me down was in building track. It's extremely difficult to get your track to look and work well. Nothing lines up automatically, so I feel like I have the choice between being absolutely anal about placement of everything and finding workarounds to line things up or having everything just be out of whack and weird looking. There is almost no interest in the scenery you're building through either. There are no real towns, buildings or cabins that make the scenery you're trying to build through look interesting. You can place scenery and create those kinds of scenes, but where's the fun in that? At that point, I might as well build a route in Trainz Simulator and actually get things to look the way they're supposed to. One other important thing to note. Most of the maps are set in the mountains. That's great for creating operational challenges, but what's not great is the fact that you can't modify the height of any terrain or build any sort of tunnels. You can't cut a narrow ledge for your track to run on or blast a tunnel through a hill that's in your way. You just have to either build around or over those obstacles, which make for some pretty unconventional track layouts. There are prelaid maps available as part of the game if you want to just run trains, but there is way too much track on every map. You feel like you just go around in circles passing under and over lines that you just travelled on. There's no sense of getting anywhere. Just moving from one industry to another. In a game that's about transportation, feeling like you're not transporting anything anywhere is a pretty big disappointment. I get the appeal of this game. A game that takes place in the wild west using old narrow gauge equipment is a fantastic idea. However, the execution on this one was poor. My advice? Don't bother with this game and just wait for Century of Steam to release to get your narrow gauge fix.
This game has barely changed over the years since I started playing. They've added the most basic of features and nothing else but locomotives to run and stuff to haul but there's no substance to make the loop of running engines interesting. The multiplayer is still a buggy dumpster fire and the community tries to ask for fixes but the devs seems more interested in making money off a dying product than actually making a good game.
I got railroads online vary early in its life. back then i would have recommended it. but now absolutely NOT do not buy. The game used to be simpler back then but now it is not. The game crashes all the time, a lot of the stuff isn't animated properly or an all (mason bogie), they take to long to fix stuff, AND THEY THINK IT'S READY FOR A DLC!??!?!?!?!?!?! If they made the game work, animate stuff properly, use proper historical stuff like paint (Coal Cookie) , added a sandbox mode, Updated old locomotives to have paint, and just make it fun then i might recommend. 2/10 DO BETTER
