super glichy
I hadn't touched this game for a long while, but decided to check it out again out of boredom today. And boy, was it really a journey. To start, the track laying system is not good, at all. It took me a solid 15 minutes of fiddling to make the track actually connect, because most of the time it will "connect" and the rails won't even meet. Switching it back to the older mode(the "precise" mode in game now) helped, but still it was way more of a chore than it needed to be. Then, the locomotive I chose(the Shay) had low water. Alright then, I'll drive it up to the water tower and fill it up. But why, WHY is the control method for lining up the water spout the single most annoying thing I have ever had to do in a train game. It's incredibly over sensitive compared to every other mouse control in the game, in the areas where it would let me control it I couldn't see whether it was actually lined up or not, and anywhere I tried to stand where I could get a good view it wouldn't let me stand. Why this couldn't have just been a "line up locomotive, click button, and it lines up and loads" like it is in Railroader is beyond me. The popups that warn you when industries are no longer producing is also incredibly annoying. They pop up very frequently at the start of a new game, and they take up way too much space on the screen. I didn't check if you can turn them off but I only hope you can. Overall, this game is a peak example of "what could have been". It's been in it's current form for over a year, has not had any notable updates, and there has been zero communication from the dev team over whether there will be any updates. There are so many minor issues that could have been worked out to make this game truly an enjoyable experience, but it appears is was just a "release to consoles for a quick cash grab, then abandon" game. I really wish I could recommend this game since it's always nice to have extra train games on offer, but in it's current state, I cannot at all tell anybody they should buy this game.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

the game at the beginning of its development looked good, but in the end we got a version with more bugs than significant improvements to the gameplay in general (I mean the lack of realistic physics within the game) like the wheel slipp, or a more entertaining economy and game loop, the game was initially on the right track (ignoring the scam that was American Railroads - Summit River & Pine Valley since that garbage stopped updating and also those who bought it did not give them a copy of railroads online although they promised) but the development of the game went to hell along with the optimization and more realistic physics, the game is not bad but the dev is not worth a damn, also the requirements in steam are not real, I bought this piece of junk thinking that I could play it with my toaster because it met the requirements but no the game would not open and when I tested it on a more powerful PC it had miserable performance, being that graphically it is not that great either, in short the game is not bad but its dev and The community managers are some miserable liars saying that this thing is a realist game and also releasing the supposed final version as if the state of the game was good, but it is full of bugs, poor optimization and lack of what they promise, the game is not worth what you have to pay for it in the state it is in (even more so if you were among the first to buy the game when it was worth almost 40 dollars) I was quite disappointed and I still hope that Century of Steam will finally close the coffin of this mess.
I was always fine with this game having alot of bugs especially when having longer consists but when the full version got released and cars still "rattle" and seperate randomly and the camera just "jitters" all over the place for me and all my friends, it's a little frustrating that this wasnt fleshed out beforehand. Track placement has a learning curve and can be difficult, even when you have a vision in your head of what your trying to accomplish and it feels like it was "it's still in early access so thats why it's buggy" to "this is the completed version now so deal with it". Did I have some fun with this game with my friends? Yes. Do my friends and I play it anymore? Never. Do we regret our purchase? 100% because we wrongly assumed the bugs would be fixed at some point in development and theres strong limitations to what you can do in game due to the bugs like for example, even if your locomotive has enough tractive effort to pull many full cars, wont matter because the cars will just vibrate very annoyingly. and jitter the consist, your loco, and your camera. Railroads online had a ton of potential and is disappointing seeing its end state.
Played this game under development, was a pretty ok game with the occasional annoying bugs until most of the dev team left. Since then it has gotten worse and worse. Old bugs are not being fix and now pushing out DLCs with more locomotives and rail cars without fixing the original ones. Honestly if I had a chance to buy it now I wouldn't
only game on my mid to high level gaming pc that seems to be unplayable... wont even get to main menu without crashing, and if im lucky enough to get to the main menu, it wont make it past the loading screen into a game before crashing. was playable many many many updates ago, i think before they started adding new maps.
I do like the for being able to build and run your own railway. In that it is rather fun. Ultimatley tough it is a rather bad and frustrating if you want to make things realistic. On no map so far was I able to link up all industry when trying to stay with a gradient or curves that would be manageable by trains. Some industry on the map even require ridicoules gradients right after the loading area. I was looking at the prelaid maps to see if was just not able to find the right way, but they laid the tracks just as ridiculous as the maps suggested, leaving me with crazy bridge systems just to get to a logging camp. This really shows that the developers are most likely not having a clue in regards of realism. Further it seems this was abandoned at version 1 and only serves as a huge hint for me: No more from this developer.
Eh... not really. kbyethx
Its very disappointing that after so many years of development, they still have not fixed the stability issues with this game. Its very difficult to play the game and progress a save when the game crashes every 15 minutes for no discernible reason.
