Opus Magnum is the latest open-ended puzzle game from Zachtronics, the creators of SpaceChem, Infinifactory, and SHENZHEN I/O. Design and build machines that assemble potions, poisons, and more using the alchemical engineer’s most advanced tool: the transmutation engine!

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.29/day in the week to Sep 10 → 5/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
How have I not reviewed this incredible game? This is simply the best Zach-like ever made without a doubt. I started working towards finishing it again recently and I have not done it yet but I plan to!
This is a great puzzle game with an alchemical theme. Similar to several other zachtronics games it involves building a machine and programming it with a simple set of instructions. In this one you are trying to assemble a "molecule" out of "atoms" of various alchemical elements, including transmuting elements into another. It's good fun.

Solid automation game. It's a pure form of Factorio et al; and I'm not saying that as a virtue or defect. Sometimes you want the fluff and sometimes you want the pure, clean thinking.
cheaper than the official diagnosis
Sure, you can look try to get the best scores in Cost, Cycles & Area, or even Sum... but there's a 5th category. The Cursed Solve. When you're terrible, so whilst you can get somewhat decent solutions, you purposefully enjoy making abominations. Anyways, the game is great. Factorio-esque buzz of creating machines and watching how they function to make optimisations. Was on my radar and recommended for years before I picked it up. Worth it 100%
An excellent puzzle game with an open ended story leaving room for fans to form their own entries to the universe's history. The semi-recent DLC expansion, while not owned just yet, appears to open the door to many new machines and puzzled previously thought to be impossible without mods (and was in fact derived and polished from a fan mod by the og devs iirc). A natural expansion for a game with virtually limitless opportunity, even with only a handful of pieces and mechanisms to boast. The extra solitaire side game, Sigmar's Garden, is a neat little past time as well and doubles as semi-reinforcing a few of the core ideas of the game's workings in the main gameplay. Its variant(s) are interesting and extra challenging too (have not quite won a round in these other versions just yet). Overall, the game is quite the gem, and worth the price if making machines and programming them is your cup of tea. I personally got it during a recent 50% discount, and that was enough for me to get this game. Virtually endless content, many ways to play from its three categories of optimisation per puzzle, and even the recent resurgence of occasional journal entries (which as a little note from me may contain DLC parts, so if you want a taster of the mechanics there, then try some of them if you already have the game but not the DLC!) I probably should look at other games from Zachtronics, and probably would be if this one wasn't as entertaining as it is!
Very challenging and interesting puzzles. It is very satisfying to go back on a rough but working solution and refine it to be as fast as possible.
