Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

A very watered down version of what made the first two games excellent, you can really feel the "mobile game port" oozing off this one. The town building is bare bones and boring, the story tries to be dark and edgy to the point of comedic and the combat system is super shallow. The soundtrack is mostly reused from the other two games. Most of the playable characters are lifeless and uninteresting and lack the personal stories that made the original so unique. Even the graphics are a big step down. It's just an absolute mess and wasn't worth the full price they asked for. Not sure I have it in me to even finish it. After the fourth "NPC dies in a horrific and tragic way" scene, I just stopped feeling anything. I think I'd rather just play the first two again.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3/day in the week to Jul 30 → 4.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Every part of the game is shallow. Writting is bad, character developpement is abscent, music is reused from the other games, gameplay is too easy and exactly the same as 1 and 2, except you have more option because there's 8 character (which makes the game even easier). The town building is boring and shallow, and ends up feeling like daily quests as you constantly have to come back to talk to everyone to get all the ressources. Very poor game.
A solid addition to the Octopath Traveler series that I would definitely recommend! While showing its obvious roots as a mobile gacha game, the expansions and embellishments added when transferring to a single player game have on the whole worked. The story has very obvious act structures as a result of this inheritance, but enough interweaving has been done to provide an overarching skeleton that at least feels coherent, if not always particularly strong. The fun of exploring the world, discovering secrets, side quests, and using skills on NPCs remain as fun as they always were. Mechanically, it uses the same systems of the previous two entries in the series including break bars, multiple weapon and elemental damage types to hit weak points, and a turn based combat system. There is less general customization per character, on account of how many you can recruit, the one noticeable downgrade (or at least sidegrade) from the previous entries. A major innovation in this entry is the fact you can have 8 party members at a time, not just 4. These are arranged in a front and back row system that you can swap each pair between at your leisure during their turn. This is a great addition, allowing for increased tactical flexibility and a general faster pace of gameplay which I appreciated. If we could combine the faster combat engendered by this entry with the greater individual build customizations from previous entries, I think the series will hit new heights of its combat. Visually the game continues the series trend of beautiful HD-2D, with my system (admittedly quite hand end) having no drops, stutters, or issues, buttery smooth 120FPs at 4k. Whether the game is worth it at full price will likely depend on your experience with the series, but if it's on sale I'd say this is an easy buy. While you benefit a little from knowledge of the previous games, this one can stand alone for any newcomer.
