Valve is known for (amongst many things) their amazing ability to make FPS games. Think Team Fortress & Counter-Strike, those are some great games but where would they be today without Half-Life as a starting point. Half-Life got some multiplayer FPS games but none of them were set in the Half-Life world, so when they eventiualy made a Half-Life FPS game I thought it would be good. In my oppinion, it fell flat of that. It dosent have many players so when you get a match with somebody else two things will happen. Nr.1 The enemy is just troling or Nr.2 the game f*cking crash. This is not a problem with my Laptop, this is the game just being ass. It's also built off of the (inferier) Half-Life: Source not the original so y'know it's bad from that alone. Idk how Valve fumbeled the bag this bad. I got this game (And Half-Life 2 Deathmatch) for free and I still want an emotional refund. I wouldnt get this game if it's not a free-with-purchase. I give this a 3.6 / 10 on the T-T-TV rating scale. Also in my first match after just saying hello, some guy told me to off myself so that should tell you all about the game.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

This is a great game for its age (it released in 2006 but its basically 1998 half life deathmatch throwed into source engine with little to no changes) and surprisingly alive, you can get atleast 4 online servers that have atleast 1-2 players, if i should list a con, its definitely the missing enemy: username or ally: username text when you hover on a player, which is shown in the banner but is not featured in the vannila game, and its a huge con since hldms doesnt have in base game team vs team gamemmode, so its not like in hl2dm where you can difference an enemy with ally mostly cuz many servers play on team vs team so its combine vs rebels, anyways this game is good and its sometimes very fun, it is not 100/10 and not THAT great, but i recommend it to anyone who likes half life multiplayer and old games. Rating: 8.5/10 Thanks for reading this review!

it was a funny experince got made fun of by an argentinian and an american talking about guns
Half Life Source den cidden iyi ama bazı ufak sorunlar var.
This review holds zero nostalgia, and I’m sorry, but this does not hold up in 2026. This is an online-only deathmatch game where you are relying on someone still hosting a server. When I played, there were only a few active lobbies, usually with maybe 4 to 6 real players. Once you get in, that is basically the whole game. You spawn in, pick up random guns scattered around empty maps, and fight until you die. No progression. No unlocks. No real reason to keep going. Just unbalanced weapons, mostly empty maps, and people who have clearly been playing this since 2006 (half-joke). I also had server issues, and the game crashed when I tried switching lobbies. If you grew up with this, I’m genuinely happy for you. I understand why nostalgia might make it feel special. But for everyone else, don’t bother. At the current asking price, this is absolutely not worth it. Honestly, even if it were free, I’d still tell most people to skip the download.

🔸 PUNTUACIÓN FINAL: 7/10 📝 REVIEW IN ENGLISH 🔶 A shot of pure competitive nostalgia that revives the unhinged chaos of classic online multiplayer and the golden era of 2000s LAN cafes. How many hours must I have spent in an internet cafe when this game came out before Counter-Strike! I was able to reminisce about those matches while playing with a Russian player who completely danced around me—sending a hug your way if you read this review. Decades later and despite the port to the Source engine, the blistering combat speed, the iconic Tau Cannon, gravity gun tricks, and the constant scramble for map pickups still deliver that straightforward, fierce, and addictive multiplayer experience that needs no battle passes or character classes to be insanely fun. ✅ Pros: • Immediate hit of nostalgia for anyone who experienced the golden age of LAN party internet cafes. • Fast-paced, frantic gameplay built 100% on raw aim, map control, and reflexes. • Serves as a time capsule with dedicated server communities where you can still land memorable matches with global players. ❌ Cons: • Visuals and engine feel severely outdated compared to modern arena shooters. • Very small active player base, making it tricky to find populated matches at any time of day. • Steep difficulty curve when matching up against the few remaining die-hard veterans. 🎯 Conclusion: Half-Life Deathmatch: Source is a time machine back to a time when competitive FPS games were purely about movement speed, map control, and straight-up fun. While it stands today as a niche title with a handful of active servers, jumping back into its dizzying multiplayer chaos remains an unbeatable tribute to LAN cafe memories. 🔸 FINAL SCORE: 7/10
