Forspoken follows the journey of Frey, a young New Yorker transported to the beautiful and cruel land of Athia. In search of a way home, Frey must use her newfound magical abilities to traverse sprawling landscapes and battle monstrous creatures.

Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.89/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Overall this is a fun game, and doesn't deserve all the negative reception that it received. The combat is fast paced, the running aspect is handled well, the music is really good, and the voice acting is well done overall. That said, the game does have a few issues. The story is a little bland and has been done before, but it is works overall. Even on a fairly new machine, the game runs hot. It puts an oddly heavy demand on the computer for decent but not great graphics. Combat can be a little repetitive, but honestly I find this with any game that I play for over a couple hours.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 28: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

P. S. If you have difficulties in the walktrough, this guide will be very useful: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3561496240
BLACKSHUTYOUMOUTHSPEECH
You know, I honestly don’t even know how to explain just how not only bad but downright exhausting Forspoken is. Compared to Expedition 33, this Square Enix project looks really dull. It’s just more proof that this company is talentless both as a developer and as a publisher. I could maybe accept Murdered: Soul Suspect, but this… Even if your PC isn’t top-tier and can handle the latest games, Forspoken’s PC optimization issues are just terrible. During my playthrough, the game lagged and loaded textures while exploring the map or just moving around the world. It freezes and stutters because of all the unnecessary effects and particles, though, to be fair, there are a few scenes in the game that look decent, but that’s only if you’re not on the lowest settings. Now, about the price. I usually talk about the price at the end, but here it’s just ridiculous. I managed to grab the game on sale for a bit over 2000 rubles, even though on other platforms it costs around 5000. On Steam at launch, it was $80! And what are we supposed to be paying that kind of money for? An empty, nonsensical open world taking up 120 gigs? A story so boring you don’t even know what to compare it to? Trying to describe the plot basically needs a spoiler tag — you won’t miss anything if you skip playing it. The problems are everywhere, starting with the illogical and downright dumb characters, including the main protagonist. Tons of swearing, a bad Russian localization — that’s just the tip of the iceberg. No fresh or interesting ideas, inability to form emotional bonds with characters, lousy design of main and side quests — all of this makes the game unbearable and off-putting. Talking about the gameplay in general, we've got a magical bracelet that unlocks magical abilities. At first, we shoot earth particles like bullets. Over time, you learn four more types of magic (for melee, ranged, and mid-range combat) based on basic elements like fire and water. But, like I said, the characters and story are totally forgettable, not to mention the battles and mobs in this world – there’s pretty much no point in upgrading abilities beyond the default ones. All the quests basically boil down to forcing the player to use the 'killer feature' — magical parkour. In reality, it's just super exaggerated, mega-fast (and even 'fast' is debatable) movements and running, which are constantly restricted in some way and pretty clunky when it comes to controls and gameplay. The whole game is just endless running from point A to point B. There’s fast travel, but it won’t really save you time between missions in most cases. Extra activities are the same boring old stuff: beat the boss within a time limit, fend off a few waves of mobs, or clear a dungeon that’s just a couple of rooms and one boss. You might get a cloak or necklace as a reward, but there’s zero motivation to explore any of it. But the biggest problem isn’t even the price or the wonky optimization—it’s the story. The plot is super bland, predictable, and full of logical holes and clichés. It’s not interesting, it doesn’t make you think, and it teaches you nothing. The story is about nothing and really isn’t compelling. This is one of those cases where a huge budget and pomp cover up total emptiness. Forspoken is a perfect example of how players are sold a boring, technically unfinished game for a ton of money (remember that $80 price tag). Everything here is bad: from the stifling open world to the annoying combat system and a storyline thrown together last minute. Definitely not worth your time or money—the game should be avoided at all costs. Don’t buy the game, any DLC, and don’t fall for the illusion of pretty graphics. Mechanically the game is fine, the story, characters and protagonist is however awfully written.
So, after 74 hours of playing this game, I am very suprised at the amount of hate it got. Yes - not all is perfect. But a lot of things are very fun, and make it worth to buy and play the game. Probably not at the full price - wait for a discount - but still, good entertainment. The movement system / magic parkour is awesome, and very well implemented. Speeding around enemies and taking them out from all sides is quite a lot of fun, the magic itself is beautifully animated and will reward any magic-lover with rich and impressing animations. Sometimes even a bit too much - when all explodes at the same time it can be quite hard seeing what you're aiming for. But then a short run of magic parkour later, you're repositioned and can go at your target again. The story is... ok. It does have one or another surprising turns, but mostly it is quite straightforward - and often it feels like it jumps to conclusions too fast. One moment you only want to get the hell outta there, then you suddenly reconsider and set off to kill a mighty magical ruler because she killed a girl you literally talked a mere 5 minutes with but somehow grew SO fond of her in those 5 minutes. You get what I mean - there just seem to miss some personal development parts. The world is very beautiful and HUGE. You can easily run for more than 20mins, and not be at your destination yet - luckily there's fast travel. Still, when doing it for the first time, you run, and run, and run. Without any real story progression. You're given a task, and then just run and run and fight random monsters for what feels way too long without any main story interaction. The story picks up pace the longer it goes on (dont let yourself get discouraged by the overly slow start), and the culmination of your skills and possibilities is actually only reached with the endgame - after you beat the story. Now, thats kinda where the problem begins for me personally - I just cant motivate myself too much to complete a lot of stuff when I'be beaten the main story. Thats just me personally though. So tl;dr: Get the game on discount, enjoy the story (which is not too bad, but also not too deep), and enjoy the magic you can use to rip literal hordes of enemies apart. Go Go Magic!
Dont listen to the haters. Under the weak voice acting is a solid game that honors games like Infamous with an amazing magic system and beautify transversal. This game is worth the commitment.

Forspoken is a game for cat lovers. There are magical cats with wings called Tanta Familiars that fly around with Frey. Forspoken helps me cope with the death of my cat. I play it every year to honor her. Forspoken touches my heart and makes me cry. Like me, Frey's only family is her cat. I cry as I write this. So, for those of you like me and Frey, Forspoken will touch your heart too. It's my favorite game because of my cat. I'm reviewing Forspoken for my cat who died in my arms. My Tanta Familar. My sister. She is not gone. She lives on in my heart. Forspoken has revolutionary traversal mechanics, unlike any other game, and innovative magic combat so it's immensely immersive. Forspoken has a hauntingly beautiful magical-apocalypse world. Forspoken's world is like Shadow of the Colossus. The art is awe inspiring and the music is emotional. Like the times before the internet when you would escape reality by exploring a game world. Forspoken has a lot of witchy vibes in the story, too. However, the world is meant to be explored after you beat the game, not during the main story. I can't express that enough. Forspoken is not meant to be explored while you play the main story. You are supposed to explore after beating the game. If you try to explore the world during the main story you will travel literal days with only the base magical traversal abilities and base magical spells for combat. However, if you wait to explore the world until after beating Forspoken, you will have additional magical traversal abilities, in addition to more magical combat spells. When I play a game, I always explore whatever I can before progressing the main story. Forspoken is the only time that I regretted playing that way. After I beat Forspoken for the first time, I realized how many new and immersive magical traversal abilities I could have used to explore the world if I waited until after I beat the game. Frey is a character that anybody who doesn't have family, other than their cat, can relate to. Frey grew up in foster care since infancy. She was never adopted. Even through all that, Frey was an intelligent kid who loved reading and learning. The one time Frey came close to being adopted, the family had kids of their own and abandoned her. After that, Frey was on the streets but fortunately had a Judge that was looking out for her by trying to help her get on the right path. Frey's apartment was set on fire and her first priority was to save her cat. Anybody who loves cats knows that they will always be our first priority in a fire. It's psychologically disturbing that Forspoken haters took it so far to criticize Frey, for saving her cat, in a fire instead of her money. Frey has never known love, friendship, or what it's like to have a family other than her cat. In fact, after the fire, Frey was going to kill herself after she gave her cat to the Judge. Frey no longer had a home and didn't want to subject her cat to a life on the streets with her. So, Frey was going to end her life knowing her cat was safe with the Judge. That's when Frey was transported to a different dimension. In this magical apocalyptic world only 1% of the people survived within a sanctuary. Frey was immune to the dangers of the magical apocalypse and gave hope to the people. Because of Frey's trauma, she felt used and pressured by the people to be their hero. Their four spiritual leaders, (powerful witches,) have been corrupted and Frey was pressured into murdering them. Frey wanted to go back to her beloved cat and escape this danger. However, as time progresses, Frey starts to blame herself for the people's suffering. When Frey helps them, she doesn't have the self-assurance to understand that her necessary actions have side effects that are beyond her control. Frey blames herself when people get hurt or die as a result. Frey starts to push people away and tries to avoid heroic responsibilities because she doesn't want to cause them any more harm. By pushing people away, Frey thought she could protect them from being hurt. Even when Frey does the right thing to help others it has caused death beyond her control. Frey feels like being there makes things worse for the people. Unfortunately, people were determined to win a Culture War by review bombing Forspoken because of their influencers. What those people fail to realize is that those influencers made money off the angry clicks over Forspoken because they don't care about games. They care about money. If Forspoken was given its deserved praise for its revolutionary traversal mechanics and innovative combat, it would have helped inspire game evolution. Instead, now it's likely other Devs will just simply steal mechanics from Forspoken without showing respect. The propaganda and lies around Forspoken are feral. The top rated negative review for Forspoken has a measly 20 hours of gameplay on it. 20 hours is not enough time to explore the entire world. That reviewer did not experience everything Forspoken has to offer, yet, is somehow the top rated review. It's okay to dislike things, it's even okay to think things are bad when they aren't. I think BoTw is bad because of weapon breaking and Master Sword cool down, but, it clearly must be a good game because so many people praise it. The major difference here is that Forspoken haters went around stalking and harassing, with feral tenacity, any outlet they could, including the Devs, to destroy the reputation of Forspoken and embarrass others with shame for liking it. Majority of haters didn't play Forspoken, because their influencers showed them rage bait videos to monetize their clicks and gain subscribers. Destroying one game's legacy, regardless of it having an effect on the future game evolution, is of no consequence to influencers because they made money off the propaganda. Also, having inadequate PC specs is not a justifiable validation to say Forspoken is unplayable. I have hundreds of hours on PC and PS5 without experiencing any issues. Either that, or people played for an hour or so and quit. We don't have discussions about movies being bad with people who haven't watched them. So why are we having discussions with people who didn't play Forspoken? Propaganda didn't stop there. Forspoken haters went on to lie and boast about it being so bad that it got the studio got shut down. The studio did not get shut down. The studio, Creative Business Unit II, still exists because it was merged into Square Enix. The voice acting is superb. The humor is enjoyable. The serious scenes are emotional. Interestingly, the dialogue will change if you save exploration points for after beating Forspoken, because of a massive plot twist. There is even an option to change the chat frequency to be minimal if you want. Yet, even with an option to change the chat frequency to minimal, there was propaganda about the dialogue. Forspoken haters have never been to New York to understand how differently people talk because they live within an internet bubble. Forspoken haters said the world is too big with nothing to do. Shadow of the Colossus is a world where there is nothing to do other than explore and appreciate the art. Forspoken is an immersive work of art with a world much like Shadow of the Colossus. However, putting exploration aside, the world is actually full of stuff to do. There are secret magical traversal spells to find at Mana Founts. Spell power upgrades via combat challenges. Dungeons with Super Bosses. Super bosses outside of dungeons. Lore archives after clearing challenges. Combat challenges. There are secret cloaks and nail designs to find. Best of all, there are magical cat familiars to find that will fly around with Frey! Additionally, this is a magical apocalypse world. Only 1% of the population has survived within one remaining sanctuary. Forspoken haters complaining about the world being empty can't be bothered to pay attention to the narrative.
This game is very confusing for people, so I am going to do a double review. For the game and other reviews. With a little comedy, enjoy. First of all, this game is good. Very good even. Most everything said in reviews whether good or bad is not trustworthy due to ignorance, expectations, etc. Secondly, this game mostly had problems because of the original price being like 90 dollars US, an engine most computers could barely run when it came out, (also during the time of my review, need at least 16gb VRAM for even low settings at 4k), and realistic character/story elements and dialogue made for kids which most older people didn't care for. Why didn't people like the main story/main character? This is a niche JRPG, (Japanese) Alice in Wonderland story of realism marketed to the younger audience with the classic life lesson draw. The main character is a flawed teenage orphan whom grew up on the streets of New York city, (realism). This is a fantasy that tries to identify with the underprivileged and lost in a real way. Why didn't the game and its young, poor, street rat, African American, female, New Yorker protagonist appeal to a lot of white, male, older, privileged people relaxing in a chair playing video games?........ Well, obviously its cause of the rude New Yorker bit. I mean have you ever met one on a business trip? Calling them rude, doesn't do it justice..... That's the part you were thinking of too, right?...... right?... Seriously though, is the gameplay worth it? The gameplay is fantastic. Near perfect compared to so many other JRPG's. The engine and long autosave interruptions make it run a little wonky if you don't know how to turn down the settings properly. The annoying autosave interruptions are my only real complaint. The magic combat at 4k, the amazing character movement speed and parkouring cliffs instead of climbing. Such an improvement over most open world games. Throw in the ol' auto-item pickup and you even parkour chests and doors. Even games with flight don't really compare for ease of open world exploration. Despite every single older or younger gamer giving their onerous opinion of this game, I'm going to do my list of pros and cons as well. Without exaggerating one thing in the game to be oh so terrible. Exaggerated whiny voice, "They make you stop in the intro to do dialog for like more than a minute one time. And... And... And even though you can skip through it really easily, It was soooo NOT ok. Why couldn't I walk and do the dialog?! Huh, Huh?! OMG, it even happens almost like 2 more times in the game where you are forced to stop and do dialog at important points in the game for almost, like a minute. Can you imagine?!" No joke, that is literally one of the biggest complaints on this whole game from the beginning from its release to even now in the reviews. I'm honestly not sure whether to laugh or cry. Pros: --BAM-- Almost no game compares to the speed and ease of movement parkour, this is Mirror's Edge level, (Saw multiple reviews saying the speed and parkour wasn't good enough cause some sheer face walls blocked later parts of the game. Yeah, imagine the game blocking off certain areas in the beginning and giving you upgrades to your abilities later that are not given to you in the first 5 minutes of exploration. How dare they?!) --BAM-- The magical combat in this engine looks fantastic. --BAM-- You have constant and continuous dodge capability. I'm sorry. Did you say what invulnerability window is on your dodge? What's the timing? Why would I need that, I'm dodging remember? **ickin' Finally. How hard was that?....... *Smacks the back of someone's head.* "No, we aren't talking about cars Steve. OMG, go back and talk to your dad about it, nobody cares." --BAM-- Includes max of 3 self revive potions and a regenerating lethal hit blocker. That's why I don't need no party members punk. Best walk on. --BAM-- Fall damage is highly mitigated and off the map falling is not instant death. So have Fun! --BAM-- The story has some good twists and turns. --Auto item pickup is a boon, gotta turn it on though. --BAM-- Equipment can be upgraded with any of the perks you want! Change anytime! Do people have any idea of the amount of games where you don't get to just upgrade and switch perks around? Where instead you spend 10 hours of the game going back forth into your inventory every 10 seconds to check dropped equipment, dps, perks, rarity etc. Heck sometimes it is like 15 different pieces of equipment or 6-8 for 4 or more characters! This games has 2 pieces of equipment, nice and simple. Each with 3 perks you get to choose. --BAM-- Can upgrade and use any cosmetic equipment variant from the first item to last with all your favorite upgrades. Pick and switch, resources are aplenty to support multiple changes! Does having 2 pieces of equipment mean the game doesn't have style?! No it does. And you can actually choose the one you want instead of losing it after 2 minutes because some new item drops that has 0.2 higher dps or AC. Anyone notice the survival games and rpg's starting to do stat equipment and cosmetic look separate? Super important. However, this game has the solution that is arguably the best of both worlds. --BAM-- Charging your magic is not interrupted even when it is, What?! After you dodge or get hit, you start at the charge you made it to, not back at the beginning! I don't think I have seen that in any rpg game Cons: --BOO-- I'm going to give one boo for having several things you can't do until after you complete the story... Not always a bad as long you Tell Us Right? So, we don't have to look it up and chance hitting spoilers. -- I'm not going to give this a full boo, but not being able to turn off auto saves is an issue. Only because of the heavy engine your computer is trying to carry. Then you ask it to make a heavy save every 30 seconds to a minute for new combats and the like. Small issue, but without it you could calibrate the graphics to be almost perfectly without skipping if you wanted, even with a lower end amount of VRAM. -- The dialog that comes off a little lesson learny/cringy is totally normal for a family rpg or jrpg. The swearing and freaking out was more fun though and more family friendly these days too. --This game is mostly the open world grind with only a couple bosses and written snatches of story and dialog like so many open world games. Not a real con per se, but this where people can complain about pacing etc. Of course if you are a real completionist, you are going to do the whole grind anyway, so why complain about one or two less bosses. --Only one type of puzzle, with many variations for opening special chests. Honestly this was my only issue with the gameplay. I am a Zelda fan all the way. Prissy dress and everything. I love lots of puzzles, but this game really doesn't have any. And I can't even really count the chest one. Cause it isn't part of the environment, just a popup. I think that is one of the real unspoken reasons people describe the world as empty. Didn't see it mentioned in a single review though, which was weird. Batman was full of puzzles. Assassin's creed not so much. I guess it just depends. -- No stats on difficulty difference during choice Easy to guess but still. This game will go down as an unrecognized gem. A victim of price hiking, heavy engine, larger than life hero fantasy expectations, and a bunch of whiny negging group mentality. Like many of its type whether tv show, movie, game, book, whatever. No faster way to fail than having your audiences' initial expectations be off. Then trying to rip them off just cause your budget was high.
Tried giving it a chance after having it on my wishlist for years, everyone telling me how bad it is. It really was that bad.
