Dear Esther immerses you in a stunningly realised world, a remote and desolate island somewhere in the outer Hebrides. As you step forwards, a voice begins to read fragments of a letter: 'Dear Esther...' - and so begins a journey through one of the most original first-person games of recent years.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 22 → 2.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
7/10 Very moody first person exploration game.
Somber. Beautiful. Dark. Desolate. All of these are ways I would describe Dear Esther. But it's not a game, its a museum; an art gallery. You have no meaningful way of interacting with the world whatsoever. You just walk forward at a painfully slow speed, listening and observing. To make matters worse, the narrator is unreliable, making it a frustrating effort to piece together any sense of narrative. This art project is beautiful in its visuals and audio, but that is literally all it has going for it.

"Even the rocks and caves will shimmer and blur, with the right eyes" I almost dropped this game more than once during the start cus I didn't understand half the ♥♥♥♥ going on lol. I'm so glad I didn't. The vibe oh the vibe, the visuals and sound designs are so so good. Gave me chills. love it.
This game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. Go play What Remains of Edith Finch.
This is NOT a game for everyone. If you like fast-paced action you most likely won't enjoy this. For anyone else, this is an incredible piece of literature that should be treated as more of an interactive poem than a game. The atmosphere it evokes is beautiful if you can just let yourself be taken in. This is, I repeat, not a game for everyone and that's okay.
One of the greatest arguments in favour of "games are art", and in defense of 'walking simulators'. Still to this day the Chinese Room's magnus opus, and replaying it after roughly 14 years, I can say with confidence that it is a masterpiece of an experience, and if you are dissuaded by the lack of gameplay elements, give it a try anyway. I'm sure it will leave an impression.
What Remains of Edith Finch,
