About

Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand introduces an all-new standalone wave defense experience, delivering thrilling, highly-replayable Company of Heroes gameplay. This standalone experience does not require you to own any previous Company of Heroes titles, making it easy for you to jump straight into the action and have fun, whether you’re a longtime fan or a new player.

Prepare to dig in, build layered defenses, and survive against escalating waves of enemy forces across 12 increasingly difficult rounds, including intimidating bosses and dynamic battlefield events unique to Final Stand.

Featuring a roguelite progression system, players construct a custom battlegroup from the ground up suited to their style of play. After each wave, choose between randomized units or abilities that persist for the duration of the run, ensuring that no two playthroughs feel the same.
Persistent upgrades like powerful perks and unique abilities will be unlocked between runs across faction-specific progression trees. These upgrades meaningfully change how each faction plays, encouraging experimentation, long-term mastery, and repeat play at higher levels.

Final Stand captures the classic Company of Heroes feeling of those pivotal moments where when faced with overwhelming odds, preparation, adaptability, and decisive command determine survival.

I love it
after playing 25 hours, i can safely say that if you are a comp stomp gamer, and you loved building a huge defensive line in company of heroes 1/2 or spamming bombard towers in aoe2, then playing wermacht in final stand is EXACTLY the kind of wave defense you would love from an RTS game. i don't like how much this cost for the current content available, but i think it's quite polished and the perk system is quite fun to progress. im really hoping that they will add more maps and maybe some sort of prestige perk system? like you reset the perk progress for a faction, get a prestige point, and that prestige point can be used for some bonus. maybe you guaranteed start with a unit of your choice to build etc. lots of cool things they can do. hope they don't leave this game as is.

Playtime through main CoH3 game is tracked separately from the individual Final Stand app. Actual playtime for Final Stand at the time of this review is in the 50+ hours range. Majority of the assets (units, maps, etc...) already existed as part of the main CoH3 game. This suggests that all the work Relic has done in order to justify the high price tag of this product is on the programming side (roguelike systems, perk progression, etc...) Despite all of this, the game was littered with game breaking bugs on launch (example: DAK vehicle fire rate perk upgrade actually reduces their shooting speed, you are sabotaging yourself by picking this; garrison range bonus did not also increase target acquisition range, the value of this bonus was greatly diminished unless you intensely micromanaged each individual garrisoned unit) Besides this, there are a lot of other small details that indicate a clear lack of polish, such as misleading tooltips (Riflemen Sprint is an activity ability that says "Passive" in its tooltip, ability icons (the Munitions Income boost Passive Technology icon show a Fuel symbol with a downward arrow in the top right corner, implying that this also comes with some Fuel income penalty). The fact that this had such a poorly timed release window (right before a holiday weekend, adding more downtime to the ability to quickly patch major issues suggest either poor planning or indifference on Relic's side. I would've been a lot more tolerant if this was a DLC in the $10-$12 range, but a $27 price tag implies a certain premium value that this product sadly fails to deliver. My advice is to not feel any FOMO to try this game out. Just wait for a steep 50% or more sale. By that time all bugs should also be fixed, so you're not missing out on anything by playing early.
For the people talking about "tryhards being the only ones hating"; this "standalone" game is objectively unacceptable. Think of any other $35 game/DLC, what do they usually entail? What can $35 get you on steam on a sale weekend. This isn't even on par with the coh 2 mod. They don't understand the community but what they do understand is that we will not allow this genre to die. As soon as DOW4 comes out let the franchise rot. As a community we have to stop allowing this slop to be fed to us.
It's a good mix between the original and a roguelite. A breathe of fresh air, and a good sense of balance that's different from that of the base game. The gameplay loop is okay, but can get old real fast since you're only going to want to get past wave 12 for the most part, as you get nothing more for going for endless. The perk tree needs a rework, as well as the randomness of the perks/upgrades you get during a run. There absolutely needs to be a block and reroll function as some runs just get bricked with useless and unnecessary upgrades/perks that give no value to your run. It's a good amount of fun regardless, playing solo or with a friend. Hoping that we get more scenarios and updates fast.
It's a fun game mode. Just needs more content such as more maps, workshop support to make and play your own maps. a nice base that i hope you flesh out more to make it perfect game
