This "game" and all the lies and manipulation of it's customer base is why Paradox is a totally garbage company that needs to fold. There are mods for Stellaris that show a great amount of hard work and sincere love for Star Trek. Far more then this quickly abandoned waste.
It's broken, or never finished - take your pick. Campaigns can't be customized, and all the races start out right next to each other, already discovered. That's as far as I got in 39 minutes of playing. Fastest refund request ever. I don't know why I expected better from these guys.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

In short this is a officially licenced, full price, total conversion mod for a stripped back version of Stellaris. I hadn't played stellaris at the time of get this and I was genuinely exited to play this, though I was quite disappointed at how hemmed it feels and unfaithful the game is to it's source material, having now played the two this is more clunky and less vibrant which is a shame given the huge potential a star trek 4x game could have. This suffers from the same issues as all star trek games since the Activision days, what I mean by that is that it's too safely nestled in canon, no one wants to make a new story line, new characters or concept for a game because they know they will get Paramount upset. Birth of the Federation this is not.
This is a great mod off the Stellaris game. Better than the original, in my opinion. It's a tragic shame that they aren't still developing more of it.
It was abandoned by the devs
It seems the development for this game was quite rushed, as many of the patches include trivial things as typos of the word "Starbase". It's a good game but far more limited than Stellaris, you're probably better off playing that with mods. Having said that, the devs were very active throughout 2023 patching all the smallest details so I say we award them for that care, even if the game isn't as great as it could have been. I haven't seen any updates throughout 2024 though so... That's not great.
This game should have been a DLC for Stellaris and not a separate game. I almost forgot I even own it, I only remember it because of Stellaris. I do not recommend this game at all. It has no replay value. I've played it a few times and then I forgot about it. I post this review so people don't make my mistake.
It truly pains me to leave a negative review on a game that had so much potential. A Star Trek Grand Strategy with a Paradox stamp and framework sounded like a dream come true. Unfortunately it's been abandoned and is no where near ready. In the current state the game is average but it could have been something special. Sadly, we'll never see it get that chance and therefore I could not recommend buying a game that will never again see an update and still has some base game issues that will now never be fixed.
I am sure the game could have been fun, but no updates from the developers, dead on release.
