Oh man, remember Impulse? A digital store that tried to compete with Steam in the late 2000s? I used it because of this game, a huge 4x strategy game that I played quite a bit when I had too much time in my hands. Its one of those games I will never have time to play anymore. :(

[h1]I recommend the game if you enjoy space strategy sims. I do not recommend it if you want to 100% its achievements.[/h1] [b]This Negative review is if you're interested in completing the game's achievements for 100%.[/b] Motive: The game is riddled with time wasting bugs that even the most complete guides only partially cover. Example: If you want to do 'Go big or Go home' achievement, it says you have to only build capital ships. What it doesn't state is that: you need to disable Quick Start and Rampant Militia groups, which would award you free frigates. You have to avoid building certain capital ships that spawn units, excluding strike craft, which will count as frigates. You have to make sure you didn't accitentally click on 'dev.exe' in the game launcher, easily selectable with a misclick. There are many more, especially if you do the Civil or Military tree achievements, you'll have to be sure for instance for TEC Military to choose Loyalist, otherwise you'll miss on one exclusive upgrade and have to waste another 30-40 minutes of your time to redo it, or depending on which tech tree you're researching, be sure to only build Military, or Civil labs, respectively. If you misclick accidently on the Military lab whilst you research Civil tree, you may restart. I also encountered some sort of bug, which nobody on their Discord knew how to fix. I assume some file got corrupted and it prevented achievements from recording. To solve it, simply uninstall and reinstall, but make sure before you reinstall you delete EVERYTHING related to the game ( file from Documents - My Games - Ironclad and from the Steam folder) If you want an affordable Space Combat sim, and don't care about achievements, 10/10, recommended, however playing the sequel, according to my friends, is a lot better, albeit still filled with bugs. I'll wait on that one till 2026.
