About
Set in a huge open world reminiscent of the Americas during the golden age of steam trains, Railroads Online puts you in the role of a pioneer helping to shape the future of America. Build tracks, traverse vast landscapes in various steam locomotives, transport goods to earn money, and customize and buy new locomotives and equipment as you grow to become a railroad tycoon. Play alone or with up to 15 friends in the online cooperative multiplayer mode on 4 different large maps including Lake Valley, Aurora Falls, Pine Valley and Mesa Plains.
Tracks, trains & more
Design your dream rail network from the ground up. Explore the world, scout the best route and lay down embankments, switches, turntables and more. Select and build tracks, bridges and other infrastructure buildings afterwards. Then cross the vast, open landscape in finely detailed locomotives and wagons. Interact with regulators, valves, brakes, couplers, and many more features in first-person view as you drive your vehicles. But you won't simply be driving around aimlessly! Your mission is to build up your company by transporting goods across the country, including timber, ore, coal, cattle, gold and other various freight items for a broad variety of industries. Earn money for every successful shipment and invest in new vehicles or upgrade and customize your existing locomotives. Plus: build stations, yards, and other infrastructure along your routes to service your trains with fuel, water, and sand. You can also build up a wide variety of iconic buildings and objects to create a beautiful surrounding for your railroad network.

buggy, incomplete mess that, like the first game (yes this is the 2nd game which feels like a sequel and more like the first game again but slightly more finished) is basically abandoned at this point just don't buy this and get other games instead. id recommend derail valley and railroader or wait for century of steam which is the most similar to this game

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Just buy Century of Steam when it comes out. Do not give these people your money. I followed the development of this game since the very start in October of 2021, when this game was promised to be something great with a team of dedicated volunteers working with the (at the time) sole developer. Over time, key volunteers left and so did the overarching vision and expertise required for this game to be what it made out to be to the supporters. The developer brought in mobile game devs and a publisher to try and fix his mess but by then it was too late, updates become less substantial and less frequent and now the game is 15 months with no update and I can say with some confidence that it wil never receive an update that will fix its many key flaws. This game got me through some super tough times, so it makes me sad to see it go to waste. The communities that spawned from this game live on though and is working on bigger and better things, consider supporting Studio 346 as they work on Century of Steam, the game that Railroads Online was meant to be.
I like it, i have also been called very autistic by friends, 60 hours into this game, might get my self checked.
Its ok. Needs to have a steam workshop where the community can add tools and things.
Rail roads is a very dull boring game this game makes me want to eat rocks and dirt I would reccommendd if you have a severe autism and love for trains
I can't recommend this game. My pc is better than the minimum requirements but after the setting change from directX 11 to directX 12 (which my pc uses) the game gave me the "fatal error" and wouldn't launch. After a wipe of the directory und a new clean install of the game it would finally launch. But none of the prepaid maps would work as the game gave me a error message saying it took longer than 120 seconds to render and then closed. I decided to try a empty map which did load but after choosing the starter locomotive the game froze and then crashed. Meaning it was completely unplayable although fulfilling the system requirements
Great potential, no progress. As soon as the game was released to console, that was the end. No significant updates, gameplay that doesn't even come close to a train simulation. No wheel slip, bare minimum physics. Performance is laughable online. If you host a server, prepare for pain. I have a Ryzen 7 5700x 64GB DDR4 at 3200 and a 4060 8GB. FPS can drop to 20s-30s when online with players connected.
I used to love this game but the devs have unofficially abandoned it and the last word from the devs was 10 months ago. The game was good, it needed it polishing but overall it was fun gameplay. You build your own tracks you can choose from a decent variety of locomotives the maps were fairly balanced but as of now its just abandoned. I hope they choose to continue working on the game.
I have had it sit in my library for a long time waiting for proper updates as when i last tried playing it the game was litteral ♥♥♥♥... They shall never come as this game is definition of Abandonware. release it maybe 1 hotfix and then totally forget about its existence.
