Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 322.75/day in the week to Jul 15 → 6.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
Had framerate issues playing it on my PC for some reason. Played it on my Steamdeck and it was alright for some reason, haha. Anyway though, Metal Gear Solid is just classic. I feel like everyone should play it at some point in their life.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 31: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Just as good as I remember, quirks and all. Now I'm someone who grew up playing Metal Gear Solid as a kid so of course I've got rose tinted glasses here looking back but despite that I still feels this holds up incredibly well. Controls can be a little clunky at times but entirely forgivable considering this is an original Playstation game which is a few decades old at this point. Outside of that the story, voice acting, and everything else still shines. Mechanics are iconic at this point but it's still great to revisit where everything got its start for Snake and the Solid run of these games going all the way up to MGSV. All of it feels tightly designed and run through making for a run through that almost feels like a movie in its presentation and pacing. From fire fights to fisticuffs, sniper shots to sabotage, betrayal and brutality, Metal Gear Solid knows exactly what it is and never pretends to be anything. Price wise the Master Collection Vol 1 feels pretty good at $30 with everything you get. $10 and under for Metal Gear Solid 1 is more than worth it in my opinion too if you're just looking for the individual experience. You're still looking at a dozen or so hours of game to get through, a variety of boss fights, and narrative filled with all sorts of spy tropes and reveals that play out until after the credits finish rolling. If you haven't played this before do yourself a favor and check out this classic. And if you have why not give it another visit? Even after not playing it for nearly 20 years it still feels like a great time.
故事和玩法真有趣,就是战斗系统的手感在现在简直一坨,要强忍着才能玩
Over 12 hours, I built an extreme hate and love for Kojima all at the same time. The boss fights made me want to die, but it was genuinely an incredible experience. Play Metal Gear Solid.
명작은 어디 안갑니다. 코나미 신발새기만 정신 차린다면....
Quite an amazing game, worth playing for the first time on Steam if you've never played MGS before, now that all of the mainline games are on Steam, the present is the best time. Despite being very primitive, the gameplay is honestly not bad at all, it ages better than you might expect. Story is pretty nice, though I personally recommend playing Metal Gear 1+2 for the best story experience. The games get better overtime, so if you like how one of the games play, you best believe it'll get better.
Eurogamer writer Rich Stanton wrote in 1998 that "Metal Gear Solid" is the "first modern video game". With the game boasting detailed 3D graphics, a compelling story, and many memorable characters, it's hard to argue against him.
