Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 102.43/day in the week to Aug 28 → 237.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Eighteen years I wanted MGS4, but I compromised. I emulated RPCS3 at 40 FPS instead.
The best part of MGS4 is how you'll see Snake in the most worst and depressed state of his life ever, then a funky little bald monkey shows up and makes him laugh a bit.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

What can I say, Kojima ate and left absolutely no crumbs. 10/10 would let Ocelot kiss me again.

It's not just a Video game, it's a Hideo game. This is it. This is Hideo Kojima's reward to you for playing all the MGS titles that came before it. And if you didn't, this is your last chance to go back and play those games before this game spoils those experiences forever. It builds upon past events, rides hard on nostalgia with fan-service, and lands the payoff perfectly—provided you've been following the overarching plot and the unforgettable characters met along the way. While the game tries to explain previous lore through dialogue and player-initiated flashbacks, it simply won't hit the same if you haven't played the earlier titles.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay is a massive leap forward. We have proper third-person aiming, a camo system that adapts dynamically to your environment and a tool that lets you scout ahead for danger to minimize nasty surprises. But the improved gun system deserves the spot for being the best feature this game has to offer. At any point, we can access the gun-shop from the menu to buy and customize our weapons or restock ammo. Any duplicate gear we find gets sold, so that means as long as we keep scavenging, we rarely run dry on the battlefield. It actively encourages taking risks and experimenting with different loadouts. Mentioning which, some of the missions in the game tries to emulate a soldier-on-a-warzone experience. There, we will see two factions at war with each other. And we have the choice to either sneak across quietly. Or befriend the rebels so that their side wins the area for us and we can roam around collecting loot without worry. This also means getting into gunfights a lot more. But thanks to the improved gun system as mentioned above, fighting battles can be really fun. Controls on the PC is serviceable. But this game is still best played with a controller. Not just because it feels more intuitive with a controller, but also because mouse aiming actually makes the game a lot easier.
CUTSCENES
We can FINALLY pause the cutscenes! And just in time too, because they are long, and they are too many. This is the one thing this game is rather (in)famous for. Critics often give the pacing flak for breaking up gameplay with cinematic marathons, but it isn't nearly the flaw people make it out to be. First, the cutscenes are incredible, bold, and integral to the game's identity. Second, the narrative was designed as the definitive curtain call for the franchise, delivering its grand finale through pure directorial flair. Kojima's cinematic ambitions shine here at full blast. Finally, the cutscenes remain surprisingly interactive: button prompts regularly appear to trigger hidden flashbacks, alter the camera angle, or offer alternative perspectives. Even during set-pieces and cinematic scenes, Kojima finds a way to let you frame the experience.
PROTIPS
- Call contacts frequently and repeat until lines cycle. Even if the main narrative relies heavily on cinematics, plenty of lore, humor, and callbacks are tucked away in the radio calls. - Game can only save your data on area change or some major cutscene events. So only bother manually saving after you change areas. - Try to befriend the rebels by giving them gifts. They will start giving you gifts in return! - Don't hoard points. Modify attachments, buy non-lethal munitions, and lean into whatever playstyle suits you best. - Despite the runtime of cutscenes, the gameplay sandboxes give you immense freedom. Stealth and non-lethal routes are always viable, but going loud is far less punishing than in past entries. For the intended experience, clear MGS1, MGS2, and MGS3 first. At the absolute minimum, having a firm grasp of MGS1 is essential.
CONCLUSION
MGS isn't like most video-games in the sense that it simply can't be described as "good" or "bad". It may establish rules only to break them later when Kojima wants to prove a point or provoke an emotional response. And boy does this game succeed at that. Whether you are witnessing the absolute crazy or the heartbreaking tear-jerkers, you won't find another experience quite like this. Love it or hate it, there will never be another game like Metal Gear Solid 4. This is peak Kojima.
