We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.

Strange buggy mess with inconsistant texturing that tries to make itself special by having source physics. This game has moments the ruin gameplay, and is also valves most forgotten game, its even delisted so if you are here and found it you probably found this review from your library because Valve even wants to forget about it. Play the original, this is a broken buggy mess that has grand downsides. The release of this game was a big deal of community content relating to half life though. So it does have that going for it.
Listen, if you somehow got here, do not get this game. It's a broken buggy mess that's barely playable. If you think I'm joking in some way, look at the notice. Valve unlisted their own game on their own store. Go play the original or even the fan made remake black mesa, both are far better then this.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

It's buggy and unlisted for a reason. But if you really want to play this for the subjectively better looking textures and rendering, search up Half-Life Source fixed on moddb. That mod fixes just about every issue with the game. If you're here, it's likely because you've already played Half-Life and are curious about it's other versions. Half-Life will forever remain a revolutionary piece of history that deserves to be played until the end of time in my opinion. Thanks to the modding community, you now have an option on which version to play while having an equally good experience. But personally, I'm going to vote the original as the better option for 3 reasons. 1. The source version is 7 GB, while the original is barely over half of 1 GB. If you are very limited on hard drive / SSD space, then this can make a difference. 2. Crisp HD textures don't make or break a game for me. Developers tend to do the best they can with the limitations they have at the time. In a world where majority of films, games, and media want to appear "realistic" even when they aren't. I always feel it is a refreshing experience to go back to old games with creative video game styled art and aesthetics. It's like they always say. "Limitation breeds creativity." And that's created a timeless art style to me that can only be provided by old school graphics. 3. Lastly, there are way more custom made campaigns to download and play for the original. We are talking months worth of content you can download and try to have even more Half-Life, if you love the gameplay and exploration elements. Which I do. I have played at least 70% of them now, and still check back to see more every once in a while. A few really good stand outs below. - Half-Life : Echoes (Action packed scientist experience, closer to the Original Half-Life.) - Half-Life: Field Intensity (Action packed soldier experience, similar to Opposing Force but with more depth and story focus.) - Half-Life: Arctic Incident (Short but sweet experience with an artic theme.) One thing for certain, I will miss the flashlight from this game. Man do I wish the one in the original worked as good as it does. But it's small price I'm willing to pay for all the other benefits of switching back. I'm still happy I purchased this and tried it for collection purposes. A shame Valve never came back to fix it up themselves.

Ok, I want you to hear me out here. It is absolutely not nearly as bad as people say it is. Yes. Don't hear me wrong, it has a few bugs. But will it ruin your experience No way. With that said. Only purchase this game if you have played the original Half-Life that is still the best way to play. But if you are already a fan of the franchise. Go ahead it is Not that bad, and has much improved graphics.
es como fumarte un porro en un colacao, sabe a mierda, pero por lo menos el porro con colacao no da cancer de ojos
it's suprisingly good but people are saying that this game is full of bugs but when i played the campaign i haven't experience any bugs at all
Its... Its Not the best. Its literally the same game. Not really of a remaster like they claim. There are some changes though, some good, some bad. The decent changes that look somewhat cool but jarring In half life 1 are: water, particles, when you destroy wooden crates you get the broken wood from source engine, ragdoll physica and blood. The few changes that made me raise a eyebrow, one of them Is.... source engine sounds for opening doors on places It should not be. yeah... Im not kidding. that one section in the game where you get the shotgun and have a choice to save barney clone 685 from the zombie behind him. when he opens the door for you It has a sound of a door being opened like one of those doors you open in RP_downtown_v2 when he rolled the valve. That was the only change that stood out to me that I would say was questionable. the worst change I would say was that you are not able to gib the enemies you kill, as whenever I tried to hit them with crowbar, sounds that you get when you hit a metal surface. unfortunate, gibbing enemies and allies was always my favorite thing to do In og half life. the best out of all changes though I would say... was the flashlight. and the fact that you can also push items without it erratically going to some sides you do not want it to. The game Is also very buggy which Is where all my complains go. remember the vending machines in OG half life? one of the coolest small details that brought life to the game, with colorful cans and allowing you to gain small health as you press all satisfying buttons. however, I come across two issues. I sometimes could not use the can whenever I press the use button. whenever I tried destroying them, the colorful cans that would fly out instead looked void-black. even the AI for enemies and other NPC's Is broken. Including the cockroach AI seems to be. Which Is depressing, since they are a small detail yet they are very lively. instead In the source 'remaster' they all are running around everywhere rather than display other intresting behaviours. It just reminded me of the cod Ghosts fish AI.(Not sure if anyone gets the joke or If Im that old lol) even the detail where bullsquids are distracted for a moment from you when you gib enemies or shoot the meat bags in that one freezer level, where It just stops for a moment to sniff before coming to the area where the meat Is and just starts eating it. forgetting you for a moment If you are far enough. Overall. I would not recommend this game unless: 1: you want some new stuff added to gmod. 2: you wanna have the whole valve complete pack bundle or half life complete bundle. 3: you love half life series. My reason was to get it for gmod. I would say get it on sale. as valve makes their games cheaper on sale. If you want to have remastered half life 1 there are better choices. like half life 1 rtx, or half life 1 mmod, mod it however you like, or even better. the black mesa by crowbar collective. Its pretty affordable on sale too. and better than this 'remaster'
On the one hand, they added ragdoll physics, and corpses now fall naturally rather than animatedly, water now shimmers, dynamic shadows have appeared, the interface has been redesigned to match the style of the second game, and the menus are now more user-friendly. But that's where the positives end. The version is terribly crude, and although I did encounter some bugs, they weren't critical, but still. In some places, the developers even simplified the levels, which I didn't notice. I'm not a huge fan, but it's still disappointing. I wouldn't be so categorical, and I don't see the point in giving it a negative rating. It's more of a showcase for the capabilities of the new Source engine.
