Playing as Alyx Vance, you are humanity’s only chance for survival. The Combine’s control of the planet since the Black Mesa incident has only strengthened as they corral the remaining population in cities. Among them are some of Earth’s greatest scientists: you and your father, Dr. Eli Vance.
As founders of a fledgling resistance, you’ve continued your clandestine scientific activity—performing critical research, and building invaluable tools for the few humans brave enough to defy the Combine.

Valve’s return to the Half-Life universe that started it all was built from the ground up for virtual reality. VR was built to enable the gameplay that sits at the heart of Half-Life.
Immerse yourself in deep environmental interactions, puzzle solving, world exploration, and visceral combat.
Lean to aim around a broken wall and under a Barnacle to make an impossible shot. Rummage through shelves to find a healing syringe and some shotgun shells. Manipulate tools to hack alien interfaces. Toss a bottle through a window to distract an enemy. Rip a Headcrab off your face and throw it out the window.
COMMUNITY-BUILT ENVIRONMENTS
A set of Source 2 tools for building new levels is included with the game, enabling any player to build and contribute new environments for the community to enjoy through Half-Life: Alyx's Steam Workshop. Hammer, Valve’s level authoring tool, has been updated with all of the game's virtual reality gameplay tools and components.

I played about 25% of the game a few years back on a friends account, and finally tried it on my potato via steam link streaming. I was surprised at how well it runs with a solid router. and with the resolution scaling I was able to run it on my old system no problem. There's some very light blurring sometimes via the streaming but totally playable.
As for the game itself. This is the only true VR experience. The full works of physics and world interaction, tense crafted levels, and that oh so familiar setting of Half life 2. Every aspect is so good that even not playing on a system as intended it still a 10/10

Hi. This game is amazing. It’s beautiful, the combat is fun, and the hands are WONDERFUL!!! The story is also amazing. All of those things make the game worth playing if you have a VR headset, but it certainly has some major issues!
I should mention the one thing that really annoys me. The innovation is disappointing, it came out after all the innovative games, like Bonelab, Boneworks, and Blade and Sorcery, I just loved this games, and they’re cheaper and you can’t get way more time out of them and they have great performance, but the big thing they didn’t add is melee combat. I mean, the crowbar was such a big thing about Half-Life! Not the end of the world, but sad nonetheless.
Let’s talk about the obvious one: the performance sucks. This game was made in 2020 and it can’t run well no matter how hard I try. On my first playthrough, I was forced to upgrade my RAM just to get it working at 40 fps, and it would crash on 50% of the loading screens. I would blame this on my PC (recently I upgraded to an exceptional gaming/AI laptop that should be able to run this at 70 fps, but I’m stuck at 30), but it ran other games (Bonelab, Boneworks, etc.) at a stable 60-70 fps! I mean, for such an old game that’s supposedly “the most well optimized VR game,” I expected better. Again, I would blame this on myself, but it seems like a common issue. Give it a try, but if it has terrible performance, I suggest you refund it! Enjoy exploring City 16!
