Foundation is a grid-less, laidback medieval city-building game with a focus on organic development, monument construction and resource management.

Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 18: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.5/day in the week to Jul 21 → 4.2/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A lovely and (should have been) relaxingly simple city builder, let down by badly conceived and poorly explained systems, seemingly little development progress and a ridiculous price tag. A tech tree made meaningless due to the requirements and/or costs of unlocking many of the levels. and which is barely explained in any meaningful way mean hours wasted only to end up locked out of being able to progress. Want to simply move a building, maybe your lumber camp to the big new wooded area you just paid most of your gold to unlock only to be told it's "too far away"... but not explaining what it's too far away from? What do i need to move first? Why doesn't the game tell me anywhere? Modular buildings that, again, are horribly introduced, and you can only "resize" in height? Why is it ALL so stupidly convoluted when you blatantly make it appear like this is a relaxing city builder!? After all this time in EA and there's still so little improvement to accessibility for new players and that's a real shame. Could have been, and in many ways is, a beautiful little game, but it's still absolutely obtuse despite years in early access (play the demo, it's pretty much everything you're getting in this!) The ultimate insult for me though... They're advertising DLC for an already overpriced and undercooked product. Nope!
The game is charming and got something to it, but the stubborn lack of building roads, villages getting lost, and things like gates for fortifications suddenly not working puts a heavy damper on the game. I had to abandon multiple runs just because the game broke on me and gave me no options to fix it. Oops, your villages can't find one of the seven paths they used to use before? -40% happiness, everyone leaves, you are in debt. Better luck next time!
Gridless building and economic management that isnt too hard. trade your way to success. fun gameplay
Needed a cosy game to enjoy that had some nice city building mechanics and some decent building creation and this game really hit the nail on the head!
Time flies when you're having fun with Foundation. As far as city builders go since time immemorial, snapping things to a grid has always been a given in them. Fictional cities, no matter the time period, end up being a perfectly organized set of squared places, all fitting nicely together in an invisible leyline. Foundation shakes all this up, and from this stems many of its advantages. The vibes in this game are cosy and charmful, as there aren't any direct threats to your countless serfs in this colorful and chunky town. You've got to keep track of their needs, but if they're lacking they just move out of town. Graphics are cartoonish and pop right at the screen, contrary to many other muddy medievalist simulations. The most difficult part of any regular game is the beginning, getting the production chain up and running; as soon as you get there, you hit a stride and it's smooth sailing from there, the only limit being the time you have to wait for more serfs to arrive. This is remedied in Challenge mode, which makes decisions all more crucial. There still isn't a total loss scenario, or at least none I have reached yet, but stuff can become as grindy and slow as you want, with plenty of sliders to customize your experience. All in all, I really enjoyed my time playing this game and will be looking forward to newer additions when I feel like playing the harder scenarios.
