Foundation is a grid-less, laidback medieval city-building game with a focus on organic development, monument construction and resource management.

Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 5.43/day in the week to Aug 27 → 5.43/day in the week after.

Each DLC is estimated with the same model as a game, then summed — a modeled figure, not reported DLC sales.

Needed a cosy game to enjoy that had some nice city building mechanics and some decent building creation and this game really hit the nail on the head!

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 18: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.5/day in the week to Jul 21 → 4.2/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The map generator is awful to work with. Let us just draw it ourselves..
This is a beautiful game but the UI is so unintuitive. I need to build a building. It tells me what the criteria are (when you learn how to hover over the criteria) but it gives you no clue as to why you can't place all the requirements. At the moment it's searching the internet time after time to find out how to do every single action. I'll revisit in in 6 months because it is SO beautiful and shows SO much promise but the UI needs a LOT of work, especially as it is sometimes inconsistent between building types. At the moment I am stuck on 21 population with no prestige. I've built a LOT of stuff which the UI says should give me prestige which I need to unlock the next steps, but nothing has worked. EDIT: it's just so beautiful I gave it a few more hours. I worked out (from online searching) how to get the prestige I needed for more villagers. Everything seemed cool. Then I built a tavern. I made sure I was producing berry beer. I promoted several villagers to Commoner. I made sure there was an entrance hall, and a service area. I even added a nook. There were still zero customers and no clue in the UI as to why. Almost all my villagers have left through unhappiness. Why? I have lots of decorations but they refuse to get drunk at the tavern, which has 100% stock of beer. I can't play this until either the UI improves drastically or mods tell me what I am missing. I reiterate my previous view: AVOID until it is playable. And I've been a gamer for over 30 years with many hours in builder sims.
I'ts the worthy successor of Banished. There, I've said it.
It's an endless tutorial, slow and annoying
