One word to describe this game: Boring. The game has no pacing. From the moment you get to control your characters and til the end of the game, there will be no ups or downs, just a steady pace from a to b. The game is stuck in an intermission that you're waiting for to end so that you can have some fun with the main event. There are no minigames either. All you do is walk, combat, walk, combat, cut-scene, walk, combat. And the combat is boring as well. Yes, there is a strategy to the harder fights, but after reaching chapter 14 I dont have anymore patience for it. The story itself is good, but with the lack of interesting mechanics to keep me entertained... Meh. The way you level up your characters is somewhat similar to FFX, just less. It's a TEMU version with an extremely annoying sound playing as you use the points. I had to start cheating in the game to speed up the fights so I can try an complete the game. FFX too is liniar, but that game had more things to keep me entertained, this however... It's just bland.

At first the gameplay is pretty alright, but then you realize that it just keeps going on, and on, and on....until you realize that it's literally been 2 hours of the one same looking corridor and reskinned enemy encounters, then multiply 5x. It feels like this should've actually been like a movie/series (similar to Kingsglaive, Brotherhood or Advent Children) with the ammount of cutscenes and rather lacking and very linear gameplay style. I think that the world/story can be interesting, but unlike something like Death Stranding, it's just not good enough to make up for the gameplay.
Decide to try this since evercold preorder references 13. This is probably one of the worst rpg I have ever player. To the point that I think people who say this game is good, are just trying to trick you into playing this trash for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles. Just a heads up I'm in chapters 11 stuck grinding since there was a difficulty spike and haven't finished this yet, but there no way it get good and if some how it did. It still wouldn't excuse the 11 chapter of trash I played. Let start with the combat. Enemy's prioritize attacking the character your playing as unless there a tank most of the time, and if the character you're playing as die you have to restart the fight. No switching to another party member or having them try to rez you. There also the problem that you can't manually move your character position in battle so what end up happening is MY TANK STANDS NEXT TO ME AND GETS ME KILLED. it happens so often, and even if they're not right next to me the enemy pushes them back on hit and they end up next to me anyway. Using cp is insanely slow there no way to quickly use it so you have to watch it slowly fill the grid. Now for the story. It bad like insanely bad and nonsense at some point. Take snow for example, he has a hero complex and proceeds to put people in danger because of it. Even after he get confronted on this and you start to think he going to change for the better. He go right back to act like a hero and now all the character suddenly decide to forgive him and are ok with his bs. Or the fake out death. I ♥♥♥♥ you not, they have a character off themself. You can can clearly tell the gun pointed at their own head from the shadow and get rolled out the room in a coffin. Just to find out 10 min later that He actually aimed the gun up and didn't go through with it and is fine. EVEN THOUGHT YOU CAN CLEARLY TELL FROM FROM HIS SHADOW THAT IT POINTED AT HIS HEAD. Then there lightning, she a idiot. They have flash back scene where her sister tell her she a l'cie and show her the mark. lighting think she lying and she run off. Now this wouldn't be that stupid if the game didn't spend so much time making sure you knew how much l'cie are hated, to the point that no one would be stupid enough to say that they were one. As for the rest of her personality it just soldier that it. It really that simple, it probably get more complex in the other games but in this you can sum it up that easily. They're also not consistent with how getting turn into a crystal works. A later character you meet turn into one even though he didn't complete his focus. They even make a point saying he didn't and then there all the people in ch 11 that are failed l'cie but they still turn to Crystal in the end for some reason. It just conflicts with the rules the story set earlier where they explain that people only turn to crystal when a focus are complete. They try to explain it by saying it a different type of crystal but honestly it just brings up more question than answers. (Apparently this is such a big issue that they had to add context in the ultimania so hope you read a book that only been printed in Japanese. no? Me neither.) I just don't understand why every time there a moment where they could have real conflict in the story or character drama if feel like they tried to speed run through it. There a lot more I could say on the story but I think you got the idea. Let briefly talk about the good. The music nice, I just wish there were a few more battle tracks and the animations on specifically lightning are good. You can tell square-enix want her to be the next cloud. Please don't play this i'm trying to save you from a headache. Just watch the cutscene on youtube if you are that curious.

Richiede riflessi pronti e una gestione intelligente dei ruoli per mandare i nemici in "Crisi" (Stagger), rendendo gli scontri più impegnativi molto gratificanti. Cast e Narrazione: Sebbene divisivi, i personaggi (come Lightning) hanno un'estetica iconica e la storia affronta temi maturi, anche se la terminologia (l'Cie, Fal'Cie) può risultare inizialmente confusionaria. Le Criticità Linearità Eccessiva: Per circa 20-30 ore, il gioco è letteralmente un lungo "corridoio". Non ci sono città da esplorare, NPC con cui interagire o missioni secondarie fino a quando non si raggiunge la piana di Grand Pulse verso la fine dell'avventura. Progressione Guidata: Il Cristallium (il sistema di sviluppo) è molto rigido e presenta dei "blocchi" legati alla storia, impedendo al giocatore di potenziare i personaggi oltre un certo limite prestabilito per ogni capitolo. Tutorial Infinito: Molte delle meccaniche fondamentali vengono sbloccate solo dopo diverse ore di gioco, rendendo l'inizio dell'avventura lento e talvolta noioso. In sintesi: Final Fantasy XIII è un esperimento di Square Enix che punta tutto sull'estetica e sul ritmo cinematografico, a scapito dell'esplorazione tipica dei JRPG. I played this game as a kid and was in luv with it. I cannot say the same now. I luv the design and the music, and sometimes the combat can bring me in, but other than that this game was not fun for me. The story is very mid to me. Every one of the characters was kinda annoying except for like 2. I do fw Lightning heavy, she swagged tf out. The enemies are so mid it's crazy, and the main antagonist is damn near nonexistent. Like I said earlier, the combat can be fun when you constantly have to switch Paradigm stances, but that shi can get so old when you're not locked in. Now the world had potential, but ts so linear it's not even funny. Nothing is memorable. Lastly, the enemy design is ahh. I hear Part 2 is better, so that's next. 5.5/10 for me. Byeeee.

[h1] FFXIII: Grab your c**k chair and watch the game play itself. [/h1] It's a long review. So, TL;DR: This game sucks. I never had a PS3. After FFVIII I skipped the series entirely. People spent years telling me Final Fantasy was dead, FFX was a disaster, and Square had lost its mind. So I avoided all of it. Then I played FFX. Loved it, despite the miserable minigames and superboss nonsense. Played FFXII next. Didn't love the combat, but I loved existing in its world. I wandered into places before the story wanted me there. It felt like an RPG. Then I got to FFXIII... Nope. This is where the corpse starts smelling. Everyone complains about the corridors, but that's not even the main problem. The real problem is that the world doesn't exist. It's a gorgeous wallpaper. You walk ten feet, fight enemies, watch a cutscene, walk another ten feet, trigger another cutscene. The game constantly interrupts itself to remind you it would've rather been a movie. It's style devouring substance in real time. You're not playing an adventure; you're escorting a screensaver to its next cinematic. Congratulations, you've been promoted to passenger. Combat isn't much better. Forget party building, experimentation, or those little moments where you outsmart the game. Everyone eventually learns everything. Most fights revolve around filling the Stagger gauge because enemies apparently have diplomatic immunity until the bar says otherwise. Meanwhile your AI companions fling abilities around like raccoons fighting over electrical wiring. The story hides basic context in a datalog. Not extra lore. Context. The writers throw a thousand made-up terms at your head and expect curiosity to do the heavy lifting. By the time I understood what was happening, I didn't care. That's not mystery. That's administrative failure. Reading supplementary entries should enrich a story, not perform CPR on it. If your plot needs homework before it can function, you've already failed the assignment. The cast doesn't help. Lightning spends hours acting like a human workplace complaint. Snow delivers motivational speeches with the energy of a malfunctioning action figure. And every cutscene has somebody obsessively fiddling with the same prop like a first-year acting student who just discovered stage business. Lightning flips her gunblade open and shut. Hope stares at his knife for the seven-hundredth time. Nabaat removes her glasses, says something sinister, then puts them back on. Snow tosses his crystal around before delivering another speech nobody asked for. It's like watching a theater class where everyone was told the object in their hand [i] is the character [/i]. Vanille never stops being irritating. Fang is fine until she repeats herself into irrelevance. Sazh is the only character with genuine humanity, which is probably why the game keeps shoving him into comic relief instead of letting him carry the story. Then there are the Eidolons. They don't arrive naturally; they materialize whenever a character reaches the contractual obligation phase of emotional development. Cue another round of recycled dialogue, another personal crisis, another giant transforming summon dragging an already tedious battle out for longer than human patience was designed to tolerate. It's less mythology and more HR paperwork for magic robots. And then people tell you it "opens up" after ten chapters. Ten. Chapters. Imagine defending that. That's like serving someone a burnt steak and proudly announcing dessert gets better after the third hour. When I finally reached Gran Pulse, I found what fans call freedom: a large field full of monsters. Not exploration. Not discovery. A field. The reward for enduring dozens of hours of hallways is receiving a bigger hallway with wildlife in it. Revolutionary. I've disliked games before. I've refunded games. This is the first time I felt cheated after buying one on sale. FFXIII is beautiful and spiritually vacant. A hollow machine wearing Final Fantasy's skin. Progression isn't exciting. New abilities aren't exciting. Even upgrading equipment somehow becomes a chore. The game keeps handing you new systems while making you dread interacting with them. And to the people posting essays about how we owe this game an apology: absolutely not. If this is your idea of a masterpiece, I can only assume the last RPG you played was a microwave. Avoid this game like you're smuggling narcotics through airport security and FFXIII is the TSA. It's a bad movie periodically interrupted by gameplay, a monument to style over substance, and the moment I finally understood why people spent years saying Final Fantasy had lost its way. They were being generous.
