Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
13 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 5.67/day in the week to Aug 4 → 6/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

this game is fun af if you dont have a 40 year old misogynistic incel breathing down your neck telling you its the worst of the franchise
THE XIII QUESTIONS

I. Is FFXIII a bad game?
No.
II. Is FFXIII a corridor simulator?
Yes, most of the time.
III. Does that make it bad?
No. It does make it linear which is by no means bad.
IV. Does the game play by itself?
No. The combat system has a lot of depth if you actually pay attention and learn its mechanics. If you think you'll get by the end of the game only by selecting "Auto Battle", you're gravely mistaken.
V. Is the combat fun?
Yes, it's fun but not for everyone. I really liked the Stagger System as well as the Roles presented for each party member. Also the ATB system in this game is good but has its flaws. But nothing game breaking.
VI. Is FFXIII only playable with mods?
Absolutely not. Just go to settings and select 1080p resolution and you good to go. I played it on a big OLED and on Fullscreen and didn't have any problems. The game is gorgeous even at 1080p at locked 60fps with rare drops on the Crystarium.
VII. Is the story good?
ABSOLUTELY! You'll have to read some of the entries to fully grasp what's going on about the world, but even so this is one of the best stories of a FF game I've played.
VIII. What about the characters?
They're perfect. Just perfect. I can't believe how much I care for each one from the start and their dynamic with each other is second to none. FFXIII has one of the best parties of the series.
IX. Is FFXIII overhated?
Unfortunately, yes. I do understand most of the reasons, however, this game does not deserve all the hate it gets. Most people just don't have the patience and worst of all: they follow the opinions of others like their own without even trying the game for themselves.
X. Is the game time consuming?
If you only playing it for the story -which was my case-, no. You'll have your standard JRPG time of completion and I beat it with 64 hours doing everything I could and doing all the side content available at my level. FXIII is quite challenging and if you are under prepared, you'll certainly die a lot. Now if you want to 100%, then yes. It's VERY grinding.
XI. Is the music good?
No, it's not good. It is fantastic! It's incredible how memorable all of the OSTs are.
XII. Which language did you play it?
Original japonese. However the eng voices and performances are really good for the scenes I saw in some videos. I just don't like and don't agree with the English localization of the script. But that's just me.
XIII. Do you recommend Final Fantasy XIII?
Yes, definitely. The game isn't perfect and that's exactly why it's so beautiful and worth the experience.

13 on sale2 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 2 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 11: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 13 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Once you install the fan patch to prevent the game from crashing this is one hell of a game. I'm not sure why it's such a controversial game. The gameplay is the peak of ATB, its super fast paced and satisfying to play. The visuals are insane too, I refuse to believe this ran on a PS3 or 360. The story and characters are all really good too. 10/10 would recommend if you're on the fence.
You may have heard a lot of bad things about this game, and over all, pretty much all the criticism is valid. I won't mince words, the gameplay in this kinda sucks at times (although the strategic element does come into fruition towards the end). The levels really are walking-simulator-tunnels. The tone might get a bit sappy at times, the main protagonist might rub some the wrong way with her broodyness and there are not a lot of RPG-esque choices to be made. It is overall not a very great game. However, behind this friction lies a truly great vision of an underappreciated art piece. A creatively written and interestingly executed story with timeless themes, set in a world whose rules and ideas keep you on your toes, whose setting makes you sit through every mediocrity just to find out what more lore there is to offer. The breathtaking art direction oozes 2000's nostalgia without ever seeming too corny, Hamauzu's stunning aetherial soundtrack hits the highs of Uematsu frequently and even surpasses it at times. The incredible world design makes you stop in your tracks to look at the timeless 7th-gen-crunchy graphics that still look beautiful to this day (!). Final Fantasy XIII is an experience, I just can't ever forget about. In a weird way, the contradictions between the narrative mantle and the gameplay aspects make this a really unique game that shines not in spite of weird and subpar game design, but because of it. The clash between the often tedious combat and disengaging levels with visual design that keeps you hooked with a story whose dialogue hits a perfect balance between personality and philosophy creates a unique love-hate relationship that will stick with you if you want to or not - a unique complex feeling that hooks you, makes you seek out more, nests itself in the back of your mind. The overall piece of art that emerges from all these aspects really is one of a kind, and even as it may be hard to approach this game as just a gamer, I think everyone should have tried it at least once, just as art-loving humans. As games are more and more accepted as an artform over just pure entertainment, I predict Final Fantasy XIII will regain both popularity and acclaim. If this outlook resonates with you, I can wholeheartedly recommend this game. I can also recommend playing the whole trilogy, which thematically ties everything up nicely and elaborates more on the strongest aspect of FF13, the lore. Still, the game works quite well on its own as well.
Given that this is currently on sale, I have to STRONGLY suggest no one buy it. I for one really enjoy this game and have fond memories of it despite the criticism around it. Ignoring that, I advise anyone considering this to *NOT* buy this as it essentially won't play on most PCs. Its just buggy. Look at the discussion tab about this game and you'll see endless posts about how they can't even get the game to play. Some people have got it to work but only after dealing with hours of research and trial and error changing system settings, etc. And these people are seemingly fairly computer fluent. Now imagine a person who isn't comfortable digging into system files and you're just lost. Unless they finally fix this game to properly function, people should stay away from this. You are essentially wasting money.
Final Fantasy XIII ignores every step forward the series had taken in terms of gameplay, world exploration, and RPG mechanics, offering nothing of comparable value in return. The first thing people criticize about this game is its linearity, and the problem goes well beyond the structure of individual locations. Technically, most of the game is a sprint from cutscene to cutscene through narrow corridors, with larger areas only opening up near the end, where there is almost nothing to actually explore. Final Fantasy X was also quite linear, but it had a lot of side content: optional quests and minigames. And Final Fantasy XI more than made up for it with a huge open world full of things to do. This would not be such a problem if the gameplay itself were good. The combat system is an attempt to evolve the classic ATB formula: you control only one character directly, while assigning Paradigms, that is roles, to the rest of your party. The main challenge is switching roles at the right moment, building the enemy's stagger gauge with offensive magic as fast as possible, then dealing maximum physical damage once they're staggered. Each role determines what a character does: physical attacks, magic attacks, applying status effects, or healing. The system has serious flaws. In battle, you can only swap Paradigms using pre-made presets set for the whole party, not for each character individually. Every time the story changes your party composition, those presets are reset. On top of that, the system leaves you with almost no feeling of control over the fight. The game is not particularly hard if you fight every encounter, but battles go on far longer than they should, because simply dealing a lot of damage is not enough: the stagger mechanic stretches every fight into the same slow pattern. The Auto-Battle button almost always picks the best action anyway, which turns the whole game into a slow auto-battler. The combat combined with the linear levels gets tiring very quickly. The linearity carries over into the progression system too. You can technically choose what to upgrade, but every upgrade path for every role is completely straightforward, and it is hard to understand why the player is given this choice at all. There is basically no build variety, and leveling secondary roles is mostly pointless: it costs a lot of upgrade points while those characters stay weak in those roles regardless. On top of character progression, the game has a weapon and equipment upgrading system, and it is awful. The game barely explains how it works, so you will waste a lot of resources before you even figure out the basics. The economy makes it worse: money and materials are always in short supply, and getting good gear to its maximum level requires a lot of grinding. The story and characters make things even worse. The game has a Datalog, a journal where summaries of past events are recorded. The problem is that the game does a poor job of easing players into its world: right from the start it throws a huge amount of unfamiliar terms and confusing events at you, so for the first third of the game you basically have to read the Datalog to understand what is going on. There is very little interaction between characters; for most of the game they have no clear plan or goal. Most of them come down to just a couple of annoying personality traits and nothing more. The few characters who seem genuinely interesting never get the development they deserve. The same goes for the world, which is actually pretty interesting on paper. The idea of a floating sphere-world above a wild planet is a genuinely original concept. But the game tells you almost nothing about it: any real information has to be found in the Datalog. Because of the linearity and the near-total absence of NPC dialogue, the world ends up feeling dead and artificial. A few words on the PC version: it is pretty bad. Controller detection is unreliable, the framerate is locked at 60 FPS, the game crashes from time to time, and pressing Escape closes the game entirely with no warning. Without third-party patches this version is basically unplayable. The only real strengths of the game are its visuals and music. Yes, the world feels lifeless, but it looks genuinely amazing: despite its age, the game keeps showing you beautiful scenery. The character designs are detailed and memorable, which is not something you can say about the monster designs, which look noticeably worse by comparison. Even so, the game still holds up visually. The soundtrack is just as good as in other entries in the series: there are a lot of memorable and epic tracks that are worth listening to on their own outside the game. Final Fantasy XIII is probably the worst mainline game in the series. A weak story and gameplay with almost no depth, arguably even shallower than the earliest games in the franchise. The few good things about it do not make up for the rest. Yes, many of the problems were fixed in Final Fantasy XIII-2, but going there only makes sense if you somehow ended up caring about the story here. Either way, this is a game that takes dozens of hours, and that time would be much better spent on something more worth it.
I played this game when it came out on the PS3 and I was mesmerised by how beautiful it looks, the soundtrack is godly, the characters have interesting stories and development, and the combat is interesting and fun. Yes the game is pretty linear but aren't other beloved FF games as well? At least to me it isn't a dealbreaker. HOWEVER if you want it to run on Steam you NEED to download the FFXIII patch and the 4gb patch, play on windowed mode and use the lowest settings your PC can get if you want to avoid random crashes and actually play the game. I almost gave up on playing it on here, but with BOTH patches and lower settings I haven't ran into any more crashes.
This was the only mainline Final Fantasy from IV onwards that I hadn't played yet. Early impressions: it's already clear that, worst come to worst, it's at least not as bad as 15 (the one in which SquareEnix forgot that women exists and the protagonist looks like someone's first DeviantArt OC) or 16 (the one that looks more like edgy euroslop than JRPG). The game does suffer from a terrible case of the PS3-era Ugly Green Filter when you're in dark areas of scenery, though. At least the characters are really pretty, the models and animations are legitimately fantastic for the release year. Hair might look better in this game than in some modern releases. And the brighter areas are free of the green filter. The combat starts extremely simple and dumbed down, but I've taken a quick look at the ways that it will expand later on, and it looks promising. I think the mistake here was that it seems to take too long before the combat truly opens up. One of the major complaints that I've always read about this game was that it's too linear, but that one never really resonated with me. I played something like eighty trillion JRPGs in my life and I think there's very few ones I'd call non-linear anyway (some SaGa and the older Atelier games come to mind). The level designs is indeed tedious with all the claustrophobic corridors, that's indeed an issue - one that FFX shared too. It was probably doubly jarring since this came after FFXII, which had some quite open field zones right at the start. Update: Really enjoying the battle system after it opened up some more.
