FINAL FANTASY IX

A great sendoff to traditional FF. I love how it blends high fantasy with an industrial steam punk era, and its world is inhabited by a fun mixing pot of different species. At it's core, it tackles grappling with one's purpose, and each of its charming cast deals with it in different ways. I highly recommend the Moguri mod to make it feel like a proper remaster. Also, it works great on Deck!

Una gran entrega de la saga que recupera la estética más clásica. El remaster deja no obstante con ganas de más. Lo recomiendo no obstante para jugarlo hoy en día en PC, pero se queda a medio camino de lo que podría haber sido. Sin embargo existen mods, como el moguri mod, que sí permiten tener esa mejora. Así que si, aunque sea a base de instalar un mod, este juego es 100% recomendado :)

大学生時代に断念したゲームを20年以上ぶりに再プレイしクリアした。 結論から言うと素晴らしすぎるゲームで、万人におすすめできる。 ストーリーが素晴らしく、操作性についても、調べるべき箇所にビックリマークが出るので迷いづらい設計となっている。 映像もpc版となり美麗であり、ps時代のガビガビしたものとは雲泥の差だ。このゲームが宿す本来の映像美を表現できていると言える。 一言でまとめるなら「JRPGの王道」という感じで、日本人が好むRPGの要素を盛り込んだ、日本人が想起するRPGのど真ん中を突いている印象を受けた。この辺りはおそらく、全作のFF8がやや難解だったことの反省もあるのだろう（断っておくが私はFF8も大好きで2000時間くらいプレイしている）。 あくまで個人的な感想だが、RPGのひとつの完成形と言ってよいと思う。たとえばFF7リメイクなどはもはや戦闘がFF9とは別物なので、私の中では別ジャンルのゲームという認識だ。古き良きJRPGというくくりで言えば、このFF9が一つの到達点のように思える。そのくらい感銘を受けた。年齢を重ねた人ほど本作に感動できるのではないだろうか。

The most recommended way to play this is the Moguri Mod. It replaces all of the art in the game with "upscaled AI textures" that look like crap. I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate AI so this is the worst way to play in my opinion. You want to download the Memoria Launcher instead. If you just play this game vanilla without the Memoria Launcher, you're not getting the full amount of dollars that you paid for this game. Memoria gives you Quality Of Life updates that you expect on a PC port, and it makes the game actually playable with a better framerate and customizable UI that doesn't look like it's still stuck on the Android version that this Steam version is a port of. Yes, I know that Moguri comes with Memoria automatically but I can't stand the awful AI upscaling and I don't think there's a way to disable that on Moguri. Now about the actual game, it's a very solid Final Fantasy game. Combat can feel stiff compared to other games in the franchise and the story kind of lacks direction near the ending of it. I do not recommend 9 as a first-timer getting into the Final Fantasy franchise not only because you have to mod this game, but also because the storyline doesn't make that much sense unless you play the game multiple times over and over again. Or just go on YouTube and spoil it for yourself like I did. You want to play X if you're a beginner just getting into the franchise, also known as Final Fantasy 10.
