Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold - Episode 1

Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold - Episode 1 is a retro pixel adventure point and click using ScummVM and trying to cash in on Curse of Monkey Island nostalgia. Set in the wild west, click around an solve comedy puzzles. A few problems here. There's no point in trying to "revive" old games like Monkey Island, because they're available and playable today. Releasing a game which looks the same as something 20 years old ignores the point. They would have had better success using modern graphics. The price tag here is way too high, as well. The game series was abandoned after this first chapter, so the story goes nowhere. I can't recommend this.

Bardzo dobra przygodówka, w starym stylu, choć poziom trudności nie jest już tak wysoki i abstrakcyjny jak bywało w latach dziewięćdziesiątych. Dla jednych będzie to zaleta, a dla innych wada. Humor - jak za dawnych lat, a do tego z głośników dobiega dopasowany i klimatyczny podkład muzyczny. Z niecierpliwością czekam na kolejny odcinek, pomimo informacji wydawcy, że projekt został anulowany i nic więcej już nie powstanie. Jest to jedyna wada tej gry. Nastały czasy, w których większość chce zarabiać... epizodycznie.

Pros - Charming art-style, really nostalgic - Mostly playable with just the mouse, you do need to press ESC to save and exit the game. - Fun dialog and lots of quirky characters. - Fantastic puzzle design, really can't praise it highly enough, its all extremely logical and makes for a really satisfying experience. Don't think I've played a game before that pretty much the first thing I try is the correct solution. Also the verb table can be problematic in some games due to the amount of choices it generates but the implementation here is spot on. At no time was I stuck because I was using the wrong verb. Very intuitive. Cons - Very short and ends on a cliffhanger only part one of a planned trilogy that will never see the light of day. Overall its a really polished and enjoyable point and click. Very disappointing we will not get to see the conclusion of the story.
