Faery - Legends of Avalon

Faery - Legends of Avalon, która bardzo dotkliwie została nadgryziona zębem czasu. Wygląda strasznie, niezależnie pod jakim kątem by na nią nie spojrzeć. Jedyne co mi się przy tym tytule podobało to niemała ilość decyzji i sposobów na rozwiązywanie zadań. Często ma się więcej niż jeden sposób na osiągnięcie celu. Elementów które mi się nie podobało było znacznie więcej - klaustrofobiczne lokacje (które gryzą się mocno z konceptem swobodnego lotu naszej postaci), powolne i mało angażujące walki, irytująca kamera, słabo napisane dialogi (do tego bez dźwięku), niejasne opcje dialogowe które sugerują jedno, a w rzeczywistości oznaczają drugie. Licznych wad nie da się usprawiedliwić śladową ilością zalet, więc niestety nie polecam tego tytułu. Bardzo chciałbym, żeby było odwrotnie, ale się zwyczajnie nie da. Mam wrażenie, że nawet w czasach premiery ta gra to był co najwyżej średniak, ale nie jest mi dane sprawdzić prawdziwości tej tezy.

Faery: Legends of Avalon is a charming little turn-based RPG that genuinely surprised me with its creativity — flying freely through whimsical fairy realms, watching my character physically transform as I spent skill points (butterfly wings, scorpion tail, ram horns and all), and solving quests through diplomacy rather than brute force gave it a personality most budget RPGs lack. The four worlds are compact but imaginative, drawing from Norse, Celtic, and Arabian mythology, and the combat system has just enough depth with action points and elemental gear sets to stay engaging throughout the 8-10 hour runtime. That said, be warned: the game ends on a hard cliffhanger that was clearly meant to set up a sequel that never came, which stings more the more invested you get in the story. There's also a real technical hurdle on modern hardware — you'll need to apply a third-party patch just to launch it, and doing so disables Steam achievements. If you can accept a bittersweet, unresolved ending and don't mind a bit of setup, this is a genuinely endearing fairy-tale RPG worth picking up on sale.

o jogo é ótimo, as historias são interessantes e o visual é bem único. Uma pena que é tão curto, eu passaria meses jogando isso.

Two thirds of a Faery is what this is, as many others have said, this game end abruptly in what is obvious sequel bait, though frankly feels more like they cut the ending to make a sequel. Then done nothing with the IP since (and is unlikely ever too now). It surprises me how much better reviewed this is then Bound by Flames, the worlds are okay but all kind of plain, not really selling there fairy tales and fables they are based on, even as isolated as the segments are the areas are decorated little even for a game as old as this, with the surrounding ending in mist. What little of the dialogue I did pay attention to was dull and long winded for no good purpose, the twist obvious (the really twist would have been letting us become his queen to rule over the lands), predates Spiders inclusion of queer romance option, the first romancable's gender being based on what gender you pick. Controls are awkward, others even much older than this had characters exploring flight and a 3d space far more intuitively than this. And it runs fine on Steam deck, but really just spend those hours on a complete story or at least one likely to see a continuation. This is a nice premise but just doesn't live up to it's potential anywhere near, even for a small studio. Folklore was a 2007 game, Fable was a 2004 game, this is barely playstation one levels of depth in 2010. Honestly all in all the game lacks ambition, while other spider games may not meet that ambition but this never even had it, just went for generic fae slop 6 years after the trend started and couldn't even be a fraction as good.
