Just finished playing it. So the good first. The creators of Escape From Monkey Island wanted to think outside the box and use the advances in computers to improve the game. They made it 3-D game and changed the controls. Only keys. No mouse was needed. THIS took time for me to get use to., Also, let us move into the bad. Being 3-D AND having new controls made moving around a pain. And because everything WAS 3-D it sometimes hard to find items and many times I got trapped by objects in my way. Or no objects at all. Also the islands were small, many of the characters I loved were no longer in the game, the puzzles were either too easy or too hard. I had to cheat, look up stuff on the net, twice. One, I had to look up how to find a coffee cup. Not joking. The ugly. Monkey Kombat. Which took me hours and had a hidden puzzle in it that I never even knew existed. In fact it seems many players did not know it existed and had to look up the answer. Because without the answer you can't finish the game. Which was the second time I cheated. Also I really didn't find the jokes in the game funny and the main storyline was meh. If this was a amazon review I might give it a two out of five stars out of pithy. But it really is a one out of five. Just skip to the next Monkey Island game.

Cuidado: o jogo quebra o seu save! Se você quer jogar Escape from Monkey Island, evite a versão nativa e vá direto para a emulação. O port é tão bugado que impede o progresso; precisei recorrer a arquivos de salvamento de terceiros para não desistir. Embora tenha suas qualidades, é definitivamente o 'patinho feio' da saga e pode te estressar mais do que divertir devido aos problemas técnicos.

This one is a mixed bag but still an enjoyable entry in the series, overall. The shift to 3D and new controls doesn’t always work, and it loses some of the charm and simplicity of earlier games. Still, the humor and characters are strong enough to make it a worthwhile experience.

It does have it's flaws, mostly towards the end, but it's still Monkey Island magic.

Against the overall reviews of Escape of Monkey Island as lower level if compared with the others of the saga, this one is the adventure I liked most! More interactive puzzles, long story, and really amazing music scores! It suffers of primitive 3D engines, and the movements of Guybrush are not always fluid. Even if I found The Curse of Monkey Island as the most humorous (Murray LOL), also this one has fantastic comic moments. Great way to complete the saga! Ahoy!
