Successor to the roguelike RPG "Elona". Adventure, survival, crafting, home-building, myths passed down, and stories of humans and Elea spun. What scars will you leave on the land of Ylva?

This game has the groundwork for a very entertaining RPG with a variety of races and classes, plenty of open world to explore, as well as nice graphics and music. Unfortunately, you cannot enjoy any of that because of the tacked on survival crafting mechanics, which are not only extremely grindy and very punishing, but are also barely explained by the game. Edit: It has since come to my attention that this game has far greater issues than being boring and tedious, it is ripe with pedophiilia. This game allows you to seduce children, to marry children, to use sexual mind control on children, to have sex with children, to keep children as slaves and/or pets, to extract "eggs" from children, and there is even a worldgen option to make all characters stop aging at 13. Needless to say you shouldn't support this game or it's developer. The game also makes use of Generative AI, which is far less severe than the pedophilia, but is yet another reason to not give your money to this.

This is a real RPG, you can do anything you want to in this game. Want to play Stardew Valley? You can do that. Want to be a real-estate mogul? You can do that. Want to be king of the fairies? I'm pretty sure you can do that. Want to lose all your money gambling? If you really want to, you can do that. This starts out as a traditional RPG, but quickly opens up to be a sandbox RPG.
It's really good. Great even. As good as your creativity wants it to be. The "roguelike" tag is a bit misleading, as the only element of it are the dungeons that are indeed structured like a traditional roguelike. Realistically, it's an RPG sandbox and kind of a colony sim? Getting that out of the way, it's more than clear the amount of love the developer has put onto his product. Don't let the "dated" visuals affect your decision to purchase this one, they are an aquired taste and the rest is well worth it. Seriously, you can do anything here, and it's being constantly updated with more content of all kinds. You can work primarily as a farmer and focus on developing a ton of land, you can beekeep, you can focus on combat, you can earn a living by singing or playing instruments, focusing on board quests and muuuuuch more. It really is that deep. My full playtime has been poured into a single character and I cannot begin to think what I can do with time both with my current one and with new ones. My single gripe is the fact that if you're low on creativity, it can feel a tiny bit aimless until you discover something new. So yes, I do recommend it and strongly believe what the dev has done is insane and deservers more recognition.
Can't recommend it right now. The game has a pretty massive foundation, but that's largely all it is. A bunch of different features that have almost no depth to them. I largely enjoyed my time with it, but every time I started feeling like I was making real, tangible progress I just came to what was effectively the end of the road of progression and was expected to just play around with the thin list of features that had no depth. Yes, it's early access. But I'm also allowed to not recommend it because I don't feel like it's amazing value right now. Maybe some time in the next couple years it will be INCREDIBLE. Right now it just shows potential, and I don't recommend games for potential alone. If you can enjoy a bare-bones everything and make a functional town, that's great. I'm happy for you. But for me, I need depth, and I don't like when I'm expected to make my own fun past the first ten hours. I made multiple characters, approached things differently, but it always came down to the same thing - crafting tables with a long list of basic materials, no specializing - no progression in making weapons or armor. Features that felt more introductory but didn't reward you for investing. The list of issues I have with this game go on and on. And I'll reiterate. I ENJOYED the game, I WANT to continue playing it. But right now, there just isn't enough depth to justify spending a large amount of time, personally. It's deceptively shallow, and because of that, I don't recommend it (right now.) The dev team seems to have a really hard time focusing on core features, too. They made a big update about how you can now turn yourself into a baby for an NPC and get milk...? Investing that much time and effort into fetish content is just wild. All the marketing for the game is serious, but then there's features like that in the game. It kind of makes sense that there's a wide selection of nothing when they make a big deal about transforming yourself into a baby to be breast-fed.
A perfect game to get into right before an important exam session or other important commitments. Don't worry about it, just take off some steam looking at cute pixels :-)
This game is a really cool concept, but it almost feels like the Dev has a bizarre draw towards self sabatoge. First, the game is one of those that seems to be perminantly in a state of perpetual early access and is still quite buggy despite being around for years. I can forgive that, but there are a lot of aspects in the game that seem to exist just to almost entirely ruin it. - The save/backup system. Just why? Why not use a normal save system? This is awful, and it's not really explained. Lost my first playthrough to a bug that the game auto saved on me. Reading online comments, this is a pretty standard first time player experience. It nearly turned me off the game. It's not clever or inventive, just use a normal save system. - The tax system. A. Again... why?? B. It's so broken and unbalanced. I get a tax note. Go and pay it, come back to another one that's 2x the amount. I HAVEN'T EVEN DONE ANYTHING! I LIVE IN A TINY GRASS HUT! WHY AM I SPENDING SO MUCH TIME RUNNING BACK AND FOURTH BETWEEN MY HUT AND THE TOWN PAYING CONSTANTLY DOUBLING TAXES!? It literally gets in the way of actually doing anything else in the game. Again, awful idea. If you HAVE to have a tax system, at least make it sensible and not so utterly intrusive that it takes away from the experience. - Recruting people is obnoxious, overly complicated, unnecessarily frustrating, and just a massive slogfest waste of time. - The social interactions as a whole are just random nonsense. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Just pure chance and you have to do it 500,000,000,000 times to progress status with any NPC in the world. Even using a mod to block repuation loss, it's more of a grind to get an NPC to tolerate you than it is to get most end game gear in MMOs. Completely ridiculous. There are about 100 other things that are annoying, but not game ruining like these. I'm 41 hours in and I've barely been able to progress because 85% of my time is spent running back and fourth paying all my money to the constant tax notes. Most games by now you're way deep into the story line or game mechanics aspect, if not just already beaten it, but this game it's just mostly been 41 hours of oppressive tax simulator. The basic concept of the game is really cool. If you're going to have it set to "I really hate my player base and want them to develop crippling depression", could you maybe consider giving us the option to turn off the "Oppressed masochist" mode so we can just relax and play a cool sandbox game without having to play this game like it's a full time job?
205 hours in. Still learning a lot. Tutorial still not finished. This game was one of the best purchases i did recently. I *really* hope there's something useful in that locked chest.
