Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.86/day in the week to Sep 10 → 2/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Honestly, reading these negative reviews makes me feel upset. I feel like half of these critical reviews are missing the point. This game is the most faithful interpretation of what playing old JRPG's, especially the Suikoden series, could have been. Sure, there are some new QOL aspects to the game, but 100%ing it takes nearly 100 hours in game. Sure you could rush it, but this is even with these QOL additions. If the game feels too easy for you there are difficulty settings and even then if its not hard enough, well sorry? This game wasn't intended to be a great challenge, it was meant to be new and refreshing while triggering all the nostalgia it could for you. For that purpose, it does exactly what I need / want from it. If you are seeking a true challenge, maybe look for something that markets itself as such. Honestly, I don't mean to come off so biased in my stance, but a lot of these negative reviews seem focused on the wrong aspects of what this game is and what its meant to be. I greatly appreciate my experience with it so far and will continue to and I really hope you give it a shot. Regardless of whatever the "recent" reviews say, this game to me is a masterpiece.

I am a backer for this game and i was expecting much from the Suikoden series. Turns out, i cannot recommend this game at all. Pros first - because there are very limited few pros one could think of but like hundred cons. Good music, very nostalgic in a good way, especially in those duel scene. (I am talking about the music only, the duel system is very lame.) Battle animation - moves are good, even with so many characters they still make the animation kinda cool for each character. Also some chain attack from two characters is a highlight (but only from animation perspective, the chain attack is not worth spending two character's action in a turn at all). Overall the game pace is slow. I am not talking about how the story progresses, but rather like something's wrong with the game engine and game design. Slow walking speed - they even make one of the support character's function as boosting movement speed when you walk around the map. Also takes you an accessory slot to further boost the walking speed. Does walking speed mean for anything like dodging traps in the map? No such thing. It simply serves for no purpose to have such low walking speed. Also there is always 1-1.5s loading time whenever you try to make interaction with NPC, investigation on clickable stuff in the map, opening a menu, etc. Many lame conversation lines. Combat design is mediocre, as many said your mages or archers could easily be one-hit by random creeps (NOT a boss fight). MP & MP-skills design is a disaster. You would only do skills which uses SP where SP is granted to you per turn for free. Casting a MP-skill costs you one-third of your mana and the damage is low AF. Front row + back row combat design - it doesn't make the combat into anything technical. Most of the time random creeps can hit your back row while the your team does not easily have ways to access back row of enemy's team. Enemy don't usually attack your tank which you normally placed in the front row, and there is no mechanism to make your tank to be enemy's primary target. Again given the MP issue, plus random creeps can always take half of a character's HP by one hit, you rely heavily on healing items. But then the game sets a inventory capacity for items you can carry. 30 In the beginning, shared by armors not equipped, runes not equipped, and all consumables. It is a meaningless system as it is not really trying to ask you make good selection of items to enter a dungeon, but rather just simply copy pasting their own old JRPG mind, which adds no value to player at all. Elemental attacks are meaningless, since most of the time SP-skill (usually with no elements i have seen so far) are the most powerful attacks. So the whole game is like looping base attack + wait for SP > SP skill > base attack / healing. When it comes to boss fight you may add a block or dodge for some alerted attack. Dumb and boring combat. There is no strategy at all. You just want to maximize your team's damage from the team formation as enemies ignores tanks and do random attacks, healing skills is useless with the large MP consumption, and elemental attack does not outplay SP skills. NO STRATEGY, simply all about STATS & DPS. RPG part - leveling up gives fixed stat upgrade by system, with no alteration could be made. Armors simply boost stats with no other elements. There is no "build" for the game, only thing you may customize your characters would be from the 3-6 rune slots. But please bear in mind some of the rune slots are not alterable. And most of the useful runes are again boosting stats only. So after all, it does not make a "build" viable, you would only focus on putting high stat-boost runes for characters with high base stat. UI - there are tons of issues. They are still using like PS1 style UI and menu systems. Like for modern games when you open the menu options, it shall allow you to select "characters status" / "items" / "Armors" / "Map" / etc and enter into the detailed tab after selection. This game is like default menu first page being "detailed character status", and you may press LT / RT to go to next detailed page, e.g. press LT once then you would be directed to "items" detailed page. So in case you want to go to "Armor" option you need to LT twice and wait for 1.5-2s loading each time a tab is being loaded. Not to mention many other annoying stuff like whenever you do fast travel (which is only available like after 5-6 hours of progress), you always got to have some character repeating the same two lines before and after each fast travel. And again each time it takes 1.5s - 2s for each line to be finished. Changing character's armor is another disaster - you can only manage the armors from characters who is under current team formation. Those armors being put on characters not in the current team is not manageable at all. So if you wish to get the armor / accessory from the non-team member, you need to go all the way back to INN to change the team formation (yes you may only swap team members in INN even the game is with over 100 allies), lay off one of your current team member, then put the non-team member into your team, just for unequipping a piece of armor from him/her. Then you need to lay off this character again and put the desired character back to the team and install that wanted armor piece. Make no sense at all and only annoys players. Cant speak of all the cons here - but please do expect all the PS1-gen-JRPG issues are still perfectly copied to this game. Probably it is acceptable if this game was out 25 years ago but it is a nah for now. My standard - BDFF, Octopath Traveler are what a mordern JRPG shall look like.
BUGs every where, translation just a joke, NOT recommanded.
Calling in the original Suikoden writer and character artist to make a spiritual successor should've been a guaranteed home run. Fourteen hours in, it becomes clear that pedigree alone doesn't resurrect magic — it just makes the failure more disappointing. This is what happens when talent can't overcome a bloated, incoherent story that mistakes scope for substance. The 100+ characters are the game's original selling point and its fatal flaw. Having that many potential allies sounds like Suikoden's greatest strength replicated, except most of them are nobody — forgettable NPCs with one-line motivations grafted into your army because the game needed to hit a quota. The writing struggles to juggle this cast; story beats land with all the impact of a wet napkin. Character arcs feel truncated, development is surface-level, and the narrative never builds genuine momentum. It's technically a war story, but watching it unfold is like reading a checklist of plot points crossed off without dramatic weight behind them. The original Suikoden writer is still in there somewhere, but something broke in translation — whether it's scope creep, localization mishaps, or just the difficulty of managing an unwieldy narrative, the story simply isn't compelling. The charm, the character-driven moments, the emotional resonance that made Suikoden memorable — none of it's here. Just mechanical plotting. The irony stings hardest for Suikoden fans: this game had the architect of two classics on staff and still couldn't deliver what made those games work. Nostalgia for Suikoden doesn't transfer. Getting the old crew back doesn't guarantee the old magic. Skip it. The pedigree makes the miss worse, not better.
Man, I'm trying to enjoy this game but it's treating me like I'm a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ at every turn. Dungeons so far suck..they're just walking simulators with long hallways with absolutely nothing in them except maybe a treasure chest with mid look or running into a random fight. puzzles are boring and bland...push this cart here so it's not blocking mentioned long hallway. Push the carts into the pressure plate there...now put a rock in the cart and push it full speed into this boulder so you can destroy the boulder somehow... but let's not be able to clearly climb this small bit of debris that's blocking our way here... definitely can't jump over these 3-foot-tall obstacles. nope. The menus suck as well. They don't navigate smoothly and there's a lot of tab-switching beteen then where you have to press rb/lb or whatever other keys they're assigned to for you to 'rotate' between them, which takes time. You can't smoothly just navigate through them, no, you have to give the stupid animation a whole ass second before you can move to the next tab over. Menus in battle also suffer this slow ass issue where you can't just move through it quickly because you already know what you want to do... also the auto battle thing, which the game seems to want to promote you to do, sucks. As others mentioned, the dialogue sucks, it points out stupidly obvious things and tries to handhold you sometimes. I ♥♥♥♥ you not even games like Golden Sun 1 did this ♥♥♥♥ 100% better, yes, the FIRST golden sun, on a gameboy advance. Better puzzles, cooler fights, more responsive menus, better dungeon layouts, actual plot from the very beginning where you set out on a journey to save the world from an alchemy/psynergy based doom and even dilemas between who is right and who is wrong. this pile of crap here isn't even worth half of its base price. This is a joke. Sadly I can't really refund this because I got it from Humble monthly, but man I really wish I could take this to a gamestop and trade it in for something else.
Needs a x2 , x3 speed key. Would shave off 70% of the time spent playing the game, making it far more enjoyable.
The character dialogue is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad.....please don't hire woke gen z idiots to do your writing. Apparently they had to remove the political slop, but its still so bad. I started skipping entire scenes because things that could be said in 2 or 3 lines started taking 10 minutes to get through. I can forgive a messy story, but the entire thing doesn't make any sense. The big bad guy just exists because they needed an evil bad guy. Speaking of which, the one actual guy who would have worked was an evil lich, Markus. Just some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lich with undead minions shows up and now I'm all of a sudden helping him.... I should be putting him AND his arch nemesis into the grave like Viktor and that vampire ♥♥♥♥....THEN take his undead army as an option to add to my own. No, they could have spun that into a great side quest/story and instead its just "I'm the good undead guy! I'm just misunderstood! The bad undead guy took my castle! We're friends now! We put 100 hereos in the title and need to pad it!" That is just the tip of the ice berg. The early game characters you start with are blatant rip offs or people you want to strangle. That being said, the characters matter little, due to the rune system there is no real difference. Only a handful of them, maybe 15, make an actual difference to your party. A bunch of them have main character syndrome, especially the 3rd wheel Marissa. Seign and Nowa are alright and make sense, but this ♥♥♥♥ just gets hamfisted into the story. The combat is just slow.....and I honest to god can't understand how that happened, even Suikoden 1 had multiple characters acting at once. This? No. Its actually worse. The "war" system is pretty bad, there is little customization - you select from presets and a lot of it is locked. I'm at the last segment of the game, the last fight I had wouldn't let me select captains, groups, etc. Exploring was ok...until you hit these invisible walls...literally. They wanted to reuse some areas for hunting and resources. That is fine, understandable and makes sense to a point.....but their way of gating that is to just put a soldier there to tell you that you can't go any further until they finish scouting....there's a big bad monsters around. I wish I was kidding. They went from reasonable things like clearing an avalanche to just "Nah bruh, you can't go that way." I would have rather gotten my ass kicked and learned the further you go in the stronger the monster sets are. = You can tell where the passion started, the DEI slop got introduced, then patched over, then became a mess that looks like it was designed by committee. If Mediocre was a game, this would be it. $60 is an absolute joke to ask for, I honestly feel robbed at $20.
