I read a review saying that this weird but lovely horror-sandbox requires a computing degree to play. I have one, and I still wanted to try it; however, now I'm questioning whether it's worth the effort to fix the game just to complete it on PC. As a Twin Peaks fan, I can say I loved a lot of things about this game: the shameless homage to the TV series, the surrealist horror/murder mystery atmosphere, the Washington setting, the jazzy soundtrack, the quirky characters, and the way the script unfolds with timed events within the map. Even the jankiness of the controls and the dated graphics grew on me. The game certainly has its charm; sadly, all of this comes packed in one of the worst ports on PC ever produced. The constant crashes prevented me from completing the game (I tried twice), even after I installed the DPfix. :( I don't know if I'll give it another try on PC. I might just play it on console next time.

Deadly Premonition doesn’t even let me play the damn game. Not “quirky jank,” not “haha cult classic,” no—this thing just straight up refuses to work. Crashes, infinite loading, random bugs… it’s like the game is actively telling you to go fck yourself for even launching it. I wanted to give it a chance, I really did, but how the hell am I supposed to enjoy anything if it won’t even load properly? People hype this up like it’s some hidden gem, and I’m sitting here staring at a broken mess that can’t function for more than five minutes. this isn’t “so bad it’s good,” this is just straight up garbage. don’t buy this unless you enjoy getting scammed by a game that barely works. 1/10, absolute f*cking disaster.

Un juego que puede crashear bastante y que tiene una de las jugabilidades más toscas que he probado en mi vida, tanto a la hora de caminar, como de disparar, como de conducir, pues lo más normal es no darle ni tan siquiera una oportunidad. Pero en mi opinión sería un error grande, porque tiene una historia fantástica, muy bien contada, llena de misterio, humor y locura. Bebe mucho de la serie de Twin Peaks, y sí, tiene muchos fallos a nivel rendimiento y a nivel jugable, pero la historia es tan buena y las situaciones surrealistas son tan inesperadas, que merece mucho la pena jugar a este juego. Porque además es un juego variado, que nos permite aunque sea de aquella manera, hacer muchas cosas distintas, ya sea en minijuegos, coleccionables, misiones secundarias o conocer personajes, todos con mucha personalidad. A su manera, muy particular, es un juegazo, aunque mucha gente puede no estar dispuesta a descubrirlo, y con razón además.
