Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut

Game would be fun if it works. But it doesn't! So.

Started off great except for needing to reopen the game multiple times for the left stick to work. Then the further i got it started crashing consistently. Tried dpfix and modding. Nothing works. Wish they would fix the game.

Deadly Premonition é aquele tipo de jogo que, à primeira vista, pode afastar muitos jogadores por causa de seus gráficos datados, controles duros e uma performance técnica bem abaixo da média. Mas para quem decide dar uma chance e mergulhar no universo bizarro e fascinante criado por Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro, a experiência é simplesmente inesquecível. A história gira em torno do agente especial Francis York Morgan, um dos protagonistas mais excêntricos e carismáticos dos videogames, que chega à pacata cidade de Greenvale para investigar um assassinato com traços sobrenaturais. O mistério se desenrola de maneira envolvente, misturando humor, terror psicológico e muito surrealismo. A forma como York conversa com seu “amigo imaginário” Zach, enquanto dirige ou interage com os moradores, cria um vínculo estranho e cativante com o jogador. Apesar das mecânicas de tiro e direção rudimentares, o charme do jogo está nos detalhes: os diálogos absurdamente únicos, os personagens secundários memoráveis e a ambientação que lembra bastante séries como Twin Peaks. Há algo mágico e autêntico em como tudo isso se junta — como se o jogo soubesse que é esquisito, e justamente por isso, entrega uma experiência única que só ele pode oferecer. A trilha sonora é outro destaque: varia de músicas suaves e descontraídas a temas tensos e dramáticos, sempre encaixando com a estranheza do momento. É impossível ouvir algumas faixas e não se lembrar imediatamente de cenas específicas do jogo. No fim das contas, Deadly Premonition não é um jogo tecnicamente “bom” nos padrões convencionais, mas é uma joia cult que conquistou seu lugar no coração de muitos jogadores por sua alma, ousadia e autenticidade. É uma experiência como nenhuma outra — estranha, charmosa e, acima de tudo, inesquecível.

I've gotta say, the bugs and crashes of this game gives hell and hard to fix by mods, but totally worth the hardships!

Amazing game. HORRENDOUS port. I've owned this on PC for a decade and I've not once been able to go more than 10 minutes without crashing. Across several computers, several versions of Windows, several mod setups(or without any mods), this has always been worse than Arkham Knight on PC on release day. This will be most playable on X360. PS3 has worse performance, but it's at least stable, and gets you the Director's Cut content. Even the Switch version, as bad as it is, at least is still technically playable. This version is not. Even running those console versions on your PC will be a better experience.

Buy the Nintendo Switch Version "Deadly Premonition Origins". The Steam Port is straight up broken. Even after doing A LOT of fixing via fan-patches, trying diffrent windows compatibility modes and fixing the deafault wrong controller inputs (right stick axis is roted by 90° for some reason). It was barely playable with a lot of game crashes for the most part but it completely fell apart. After starting the second chapter i had to stop my playthrough and buy the switch version. Deadly Premonition is an amazing game. Give it a try. But not here.

I love this game, but the steam version is so broken, the list of fixes no longer work. If you want to play the game, get the Switch version. That version is still not perfect, but at least you'll actually be able to play the game without the save file becoming corrupted and constantly crashing.

Game was playable back on release, but nowadays is borderline impossible to play on PC. Get the Switch version or emulate the PS3 version instead.
