About
The game takes place on the Western Front between 1914 and 1918, in one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history - inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun in 1916.
Verdun is the first multiplayer FPS set in a realistic World War One setting, the game which started the WW1 Game series. The vicious close quarters nature of trench warfare means that skill with a bayonet can be as vital as good aim with a rifle.
The game offers 4 distinct game-modes with many historically accurate features such as realistic WW1 weaponry, authentic uniforms, horrendous gore, and maps based on the real battlefields of France and Belgium. The dynamic Frontlines game mode features 64 players taking turns to go over the top and attempt to capture the opposing trench line.
Experience World War One gameplay: Accurate weaponry with realistic bullet physics, skill based weapon handling, poisonous gas with a claustrophobic gas mask experience, horrendous gore effects, and ferocious artillery barrages
Tactical squad-based FPS: 15 distinctive squad types representing soldiers from 5+ countries, each with distinct weapons and equipment
True trench warfare: Real-time dynamic frontline with momentum based attack and counter-attack gameplay
Authentic World War 1 setting: Typical WW1 music and style, historical battlefields representing the most active parts of the Western Front
Challenging game modes: team-based Frontlines, tactical Attrition, skill-based Rifle Deathmatch, and relentless Squad Defense
The gameplay in this true WW1 battlefield experience is as immersive and gritty as it can get, with features such as optional realistic gore which portrays the true horror of the First World War and authentic weaponry including artillery and gas. Weapons need to be handled with skill - each gun handles differently and there are no floating crosshairs to aid your aim, along with realistic bullet physics to contend with.
Battle your way across no man’s land to capture the next enemy trench line, before switching to defense to protect your gains in the Frontlines game mode. Keep your head down or quickly don your mask in the event of artillery strikes or gas attacks. This unforgiving war isn’t for the faint hearted!
The WW1 Game Series currently includes Verdun, Tannenberg set on the Eastern Front, Isonzo set on the Italian Front and Gallipoli set on the Ottoman Fronts. These authentic WW1 shooters let players choose from a range of squads from across the war, as they fight for control of the ever-changing frontlines. For Verdun, we carried out extensive field research at the battlefield itself and were advised by knowledgeable historians to make sure the individual elements in Verdun are as historically accurate as it can get. Uniforms have been recreated to the tiniest detail, the weapons are modeled to exact references and the maps use realistic props and terrain layouts. Everything in the game has been tailored to recreate the grim atmosphere so typical of WW1, from the immersive interface and war torn maps to realistic sounds and voices that evoke the feeling of actually being there in the mud covered trenches, peering out over no man's land in search of the enemy.

I find it strange that each game is stand alone. It makes sense. This is 10 years old. It's still fun. It's quite empty and the bots fill the game. Well there was one game that had 40 odd people. Glad I bought it years ago, before the price went up dramatically?! Bots are quite accurate. Attacking their trench can be hard. Other times they stand in the "No mans land" wide open, and aim. They're not perfect but they are hard. It's better to start from scratch/build using data pieces. Instead of DLC. Especially when gameplay elements or the engine is altered. Though I would only buy them on sale. There's a new one "Ottoman Front" coming out soon. That one. I might buy too. Each game is a different front. I have Tannenberg but not Isonzo. I had Isonzo, returned it. More people were playing Tannenberg. The gameplay is slightly different too. I like the squads and extra points for staying in the leaders proximity, following commands/having commands followed. You're going to need help. You can't run and gun. You run out of ammo/need to reload and there are too many enemies. For me, It runs on ultra, with shadows on high. 1080p 60fps It's nice on sale. I was playing with someone from Europe and Texas. Most people had 40-80 ping. some 170. Better connection than Ubisoft's Rainbow 6 Siege. But it doesn't really matter, you poke your head up and die. You hide in the trench and artillery blows you up. If you play the objective, you die. If you desert you die. You're going to die. It's "The Great War."

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

If you're interested in a very focused WWI experience you'll surely enjoy it for a good while. There's always a server with some players in it, bots aren't that bad and are available even if you solo play. There's a good variety of weapons. In general a good feel of trench warfare. It shows its age now, and there aren't many game modes so it will get repetitive unless you get fixated on unlocking every weapon and such.
Also ehrlich - da verzichte ich lieber
The game first became available through Early Access in 2013 and then launched its formal PC version two years later in 2015. The game does not incorporate a single-player campaign which would have been amusing to experience an adventure from that time period. 🎮Verdun provides diverse game modes. Squad Defense is a co-op game where we fight off waves of opposers. It's not a peculiarly cliffhangging game, and most individuals will give up after the first playthrough. Rifle Deathmatch and Attrition are two merciless modes that are stubbornly refrained by gamers, and primarly only serves as a testing ground for new arrivals to their soldier classes and arsenals. If you're onlooking to play, the only sensible option is Frontlines. The game Frontlines manifests most resemblance to the Rush game mode from the Battlefield series. It trademarks two teams of 32 players who wage war in matches organized into 4v4 player crews. The squad must apprehend a secured point to progress their front line. The attack ventures become more grueling because opponents exploit their operations during specific time limits which allows them to launch counteroffensive attacks after the delegated time phase ends. Battles can last thirty minutes, so each person should reminesce that this isn't a game for a quick round prior to heading out the door. Game Takes venue during World War I. However, after just some moments that i spent in the trenches, I realized this isn't some other EA brawl or the haywire slog that usually is released annually by Activision. Verdun looks like it has strived in recreating what scuffels of a century ago were like, without jeopardizing to please the masses. Jumping out of a trench and mindlessly charging in results almost in a abrupt death. In most cases, a solitary well-placed shot (not necessarily a headshot) is sufficient to kill an enemy, so forget about jumping and rabidly flicking the stick to make the bullet miss. So how do we play it? Above all, composure is the key. Gaining ground involves laborious maneuver through trenches, seeking natural cover in exposed terrain, and persistently avoiding barriers. Using your head before going into action is essential like nowhere else. Here, even getting your legs entangled in wire can conclude in a respawn… The one shot, one kill principle instigates something rarely found in FPSs. Bolt-action rifles of the era required reloading after each shot, so a missed attempt leaves you virtually defenseless, unmasking you to wait for the enemy's bullet… unless they miss too. Machine guns, on the other hand, have such vigorous recoil that hitting the lot at mid-range is essentially impossible. I swiftly appraised my skills and, having learned humility i began to respect munitions, seeking the element of surprise, and working in unison with your squad. Squads, or four person crews within a team, play a similar role to those in the Battlefield series. Team members differ in their weapons and apparatuses, and one player becomes the commander (NCO), able to issue orders from a convenient command wheel. Unlike the previously mentioned high-budget productions, we can choose from various units of the discrepant sides. Detailed rendition of the Entente and Central Powers military units have been carefully studied, and most importantly, their noteworthy weaponry has been retained. Depending on the side and class chosen, both long and short arsenals vary, and soldiers have variance skills. Some run faster, others have a dependable hand, and commanders possess exclusive weapons (e.g., mustard gas). Interestingly, in addition to trooper leveling, squads also advance. Playing with comrades is easy to level up and unfasten perks, but co-oping with "random" players can also yield considerable rewards. The game lucidly looks staggering. The elaborate maps (which are recreations of real battlefields) are bathed in very stark colors. It's clear that furrows are dusty, dirty, and stinky, but the lack of any contrast is simply jarring. The evidently identical locations cause bearings problems, and irregurarly even worse, soldiers' uniforms often merge into the background. The sound is mediocre, the sounds of gunfire and detonations are lush and resonate heavily in headphones, but there's a lack of music to accentuate important significance during combat. 👍Strengths. - Faithful armament and unit reproduction - Teaches humbleness - Prizes cooperation - High realism - Challenging gameplay - Historically veracious 👎Weaknesses. - Maps and modes can feel unvaried after many hours. - Focused on realism over spectacle - Lag sometimes occurs even on a good connection - Can be chaotic - High entry threshold for the uninitiated 🏁Summary. The online shooter game bestows a bona fide experience through its unflexible gameplay and its ability to let players work in unison at combat. The game appeals to players who favor to use stealthy movement through tactical landscape to find opposers instead of spending time on optical effects or weapon handling. It's dismaying that there's only one fruitful game mode. 🎯6.5/10
Lots of highly intelligent people leaving negative reviews after buying what was already a niche game that is now over a decade old and complaining it's dead. The game is perfectly fine to buy on sale if you don't mind playing with bots like I do. Game is still immersive and fun.
full of cheaters and they do nothing about it, like 40 people play at a time, games dead
bought the three games on sale, tried this one first. almost refunded everything until I tried Isonzo and learned that's where all the players are at. I dont see why the devs didnt just release each other game as dlc rather than splitting them up into different games. game itself is ok, but kinda dead.
