I have never played such a boring game Everything from the gameplay loop to the music, menus, maps, story feels like it was made to be the blandest possible. It's a shame because a management/jrpg sounds interesting but then you boot up the game and there's NO management and barely anything rpg wise. It's simply a grindfest where you : -make a party with 1 OP student and 3 low level -join a mission -complete it as fast as possible but making sure to kill every monster -come back, level up what you can and do it all over again There's 2 types of missions in this game, the classic ones where you control a party and the "errand" ones where you just send them off and they do whatever. But at the end you don't even bother doing the errand ones because the XP they bring is meaningless, these can last up to 10 weeks and not even bring enough xp for a single level up it's meaningless. I'm ranting a lot due to the disappointment this game gave me, save yourself the trouble and go play a good game, this is not it.
i cannot recommend this. This is a very grindy game that is not fun. base building is barebone and RPG too. Don't bother.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The game tries to combine an action RPG and building sim together and manages to do neither of them well. The action RPG sections are bland. You have one basic attack and one "special move" which pretty much boils down to "basic attack that hits stronger". The character progression boils down to "chose 10% more health, attack or magic" and you only get that choice every several levels. So characters pretty much cookie cutter. The building sim is also lackluster. You have a limited number of slots you can build in and you only get more once your prestige goes to the next level. This means there is no real customization because all your spaces are taken up by building you have to have (for example you need three different buildings if you don't want your student to stay apprentices). Finally to top it off with missions that reuse the same assets over and over again. For example one mission is go kill 2 slimes in the field. Then the next mission is go kill 5 slimes in the same field.
Really tried to like this one... seriously. Explored a bit and grinded in the repetitive level... with the same design... again.. and the same encounters and decor... again. You'll see.
Going 3D was a mistake, and boi this game already had too many
This was quite a simple game, more an RPG than a hero school builder. I put it as 'recommend it' but it's more of a mixed review, preferably you should wait for a good discount to get this. First off, graphics are fine. I'd say it could be better, but it works. The music is decent, and the credits song is a nice one. The story is simple, although it could have been better (both the story and also side quests), and the execution of some areas could have been differently approached. It almost seems like stuff happens out of nowhere, and it did get a bit dull. I probably think all this because of the typos and not so great grammar. At least the characters seem pretty nice, they look good, but they are also simple. The gameplay once again is fine, you get students, you build them up, and then you use them as your characters during the missions and combat, simple and to the point. Buy stuff, level up, and fight. I'll give them this though: the RPG and simple combat were the parts I enjoyed most of this game, there's definitely *some* fun to be had here. I'm also glad there's no time limit inside missions. Speaking of combat, it's also simple just mash the button and use skill if needed. Of course, I also found it to be annoying when it reached a point where you need to level up a new set of characters to replace the old ones, which can take forever, so I only did it one time until I got further ahead, at which point I just used 2 good characters to slowly level 2 other ones to max by going to a good mission, killing high-level enemies, and then abandoning on purpose. After all, ain't no way I'm losing access to these easy levels. Obviously it made the game a bit more dull and boring, but it's either that or spend a LOT more time on a MUCH worse mission for levels.
The drake ambush mission with Eve, 'Eve's Holiday' I think it was, is fantastic.
For the bad, besides what I've said above, there's: Typos. The pathfinding is hit or miss sometimes. Clipping errors with characters in missions or in cutscenes clipping into the world The controls take a bit of getting used to, clearly, this is built more for controller given the prompts you can see inside missions next to your students names. It can become difficult to train new recruits later in the game as you don't have access to a good training area and will just have to send them to actual missions with someone that can actually fight and, well, do the same as I did in the combat section. Seriously, those Novice Training Grounds need to be better, or have another open up that gives a lot more XP. And some bugs, like in the Netherwood mission, I think, don't remember what it's called, there's no pathfinding, everyone was on walking animation but stood in place, including my own team, except the one I controlled, which is good otherwise, I'd have been stuck. Overall, it's a VERY simple game with simple systems that can get a bit repetitive while having some bugs, but you know what, I kinda started to enjoy its simplicity towards the end, although if you're going to get it, do it when there's a good discount on.
Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story offers a charming blend of school management, light RPG mechanics, and fantasy adventure, inviting players to step into the role of a newly appointed principal tasked with rebuilding and leading a prestigious academy for young heroes. From the very beginning, the game leans into the appeal of nurturing students from humble apprentices into capable warriors, mages, and specialists. The premise is playful yet full of potential: you must balance academic growth, campus expansion, political expectations, and hands-on monster-fighting missions, all within a world caught in the middle of a shifting power struggle among five queendoms. While the narrative foundations never reach the complexity the setting suggests, they provide a pleasant frame for the school-life strategy at the game’s core. The academy itself acts as a lively hub where your decisions visibly affect student life. Constructing classrooms, dormitories, training yards, libraries, and crafting studios gradually transforms the modest school into a bustling institution. Students wander the grounds, attend classes, and react to small events, giving the environment a lived-in charm. Each semester introduces a rhythm of teaching, training, and upgrading facilities, followed by the graduation of at least one student—a mechanic that reinforces the idea of generational growth. Watching your pupils evolve across multiple class tiers, unlocking new skills, and outfitting them with increasingly powerful gear gives the academy a gratifying sense of progression. Where the game adds more texture is in its mission system. At any time, you can dispatch squads of students on autonomous errands to collect materials or raise experience, or take direct control of a party for real-time action missions. These playable missions place you in small, linear environments where you hack, slash, cast spells, and navigate short objectives. The combat is simple but satisfying, relying on basic attacks, special abilities, and cooperation between party members. Although not as deep as a dedicated action RPG, these segments add welcome variety and help you feel more connected to the students you train. Completing missions earns loot, resources, and reputation, fueling further upgrades back at the academy. As engaging as the structure is early on, Valthirian Arc struggles with long-term pacing. The management systems, though initially refreshing, become more repetitive the larger your school grows. With dozens of students enrolled and only a limited number of active squads allowed at once, many recruits simply sit idle, gaining little experience and feeling underutilized. Similarly, the mission pool begins to lose variety as the campaign progresses. Objectives often boil down to similar “defeat enemies” or “retrieve item” setups, and enemy encounters don’t scale in ways that meaningfully alter your approach. This repetition becomes especially noticeable during the mid-to-late game pathways, where grinding starts to feel more like a necessity than a natural extension of progression. Narrative ambitions also fall short of their promising setup. The political conflict among the queendoms, introduced early as a major influence on your academy’s future, rarely plays a meaningful role in gameplay or student development. Story events are spaced out and often lack impact, leaving the main plot feeling more like a distant echo than an active driving force. While the light-hearted tone and colorful world are enjoyable, the sense of missing narrative weight becomes more apparent as you invest dozens of hours into the academy. Despite these shortcomings, the game retains a distinct charm. The visual style is bright and stylized, with lush environments and expressive character designs. The soundtrack is pleasant and unobtrusive, contributing to the relaxed atmosphere. More importantly, the core fantasy of running a hero school remains appealing throughout. There is something inherently satisfying about shaping a roster of students, guiding their growth, and seeing them graduate as fully realized heroes who carry your academy’s crest into the wider world. In the end, Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story is best enjoyed as a light, cozy hybrid of management sim and RPG rather than a profound or deeply strategic experience. It offers a compelling early game full of discovery, a charming world, and an addictive sense of developmental progress. Over time, the repetition and underdeveloped narrative become more noticeable, but for players drawn to the idea of nurturing heroes and building a magical academy, the game delivers exactly that fantasy with warmth and enthusiasm. It may not reach the heights suggested by its ambitious premise, but it remains a uniquely enjoyable journey for those who appreciate gentle management gameplay wrapped in a whimsical fantasy package. Rating: 5/10
The game is quite good, it's just that when I play it, sometimes there are bugs in the missions that require me to restart the game or complete the practice mission first to continue the mission that has the bug in it, which I think is a bit annoying. Otherwise, I think this game is quite fun and worth playing.
