Oldie but Goldie. Nach wie vor die beste Art TR zu spielen, wenn man keine Möglichkeit mehr hat das Original zu emulieren.

It's a faithful "remaster" (though of course it's not using strictly original assets as the word would suggest in its original meaning), the textures are often as if they were original but of higher resolution. The game runs at 60fps. You can switch to "original" graphics I guess, though for most of us "original" graphics meant the anti aliasing versions and higher framerate. The "original" representation looks more like the PS1 games, but maybe they really looked that rough without any enhancements. It's been so long since I played the original discs that I can't remember. Nevertheless, would've been a good idea to give the players an option to set the original to 60fps and smoother textures. Nobody almost ever plays the originals in the way that they are represented here. There's also no graphical settings of any kind, you're stuck with what you have. The game does scale to different sizes like ultrawide though so generally no issues here. One option that I also wish were included was the option to switch off the environmental sound effect tracks while playing Tomb Raider I. Their addition, I would say, was a mistake in the PC version, and the console versions are therefore audio wise superior as they communicate the sense of isolation that TR1 was known and praised for. Sometimes less is more. Anyway, a successful re-release with a few quality of life improvements. And finally a version of Tomb Raider I that doesn't depend on Dosbox or won't randomly crash!
