About

The Idol was lost — but not forgotten. In this followup to the award winning detective game The Case of the Golden Idol, you are an observer that must investigate 20 strange cases of crime, death and depravity - all somehow connected. Use your detective skills to make sense of a grand mystery that unfolds across an age of hallucinogens, disco, fax machines and parapsychology.

Two hundred years after the unspeakable fate of the Cloudsley family, the Idol's legend lives on only in whispers and myth… but some are determined for this to change. Discover the mysterious forces connecting a tenacious treasure hunter, a team of scientists, the members of an enlightenment-seeking cult and corporate profiteers drawn to the all-powerful artifact.

The Rise of the Golden Idol is a new type of detective game where you freely explore each crime scene at your own pace, using logic to build your own theories. Click to collect clues and analyze each discovery to determine what happened, why, and who was responsible.

Convicted prisoners, new age cult leaders, corporate middle management and many more figures have a role to play in the wider mystery that unfolds — each driven by their own agenda. Scour each scene for key details to put names to faces and deduce their motives.

A reworked interface lets you quickly gather key terms from observations and witness testimonies, greatly expanding the depth and variety of each scenario. Upon the conclusion of each chapter, a new type of puzzle lets you revisit past deductions, recap the events of these interconnected cases, and investigate the threads that unify them.

好玩
Also good addition for the first one.

great detective game, played everyday to finally solve it
Engaging story and just the right level of difficulty. Much longer and more content than Curse of the Golden Idol.
These two games are so insanely good that they made me feel like i was on crack. the stories and misteries are so well crafted, so original, and the perfect balance between tough to crack and entirely solveable. i strongly recommend not using the hint system if you can help it.
Golden!
Pretty good follow up to Case of the Golden Idol. You can tell the writers figured out the plot in advance rather than the slightly improvisational quality of the first game. The game switches to the (alternate) 70s giving things a (more) contemporary theme, and develops pretty nicely. Obviously the titular Idol has resurfaced, but what sort of effect is this ancient piece having on an oblivous population? The scenarios jump around timline-wise, but as you uncover pieces of the mystery you gradually piece things together. The puzzles are generally good, engaging and diverse, with not too many leaps of logic. Quite a few times I "guessed" the scenario correclty first try. I still like the system where the game will let you figure out parts of the scenario, and confirm whether its right, before tackling the overall scenario. In terms of cons, another reviewer said the interface is slightly worse, and I agree. Also, loading times are slightly longer which is annoying as especially towards the end of the game you want to switch between various solved scenarios and pick up clues on the overall narrative. But yeah, overall I paid for a good quality follow up to The Case of the Golden Idol and that's just what I got, so I'm happy.
