Really nice game, the cases in each chapter have some of the best detective puzzles in any game I have played, some of them really stumped me but it was because of me overlooking something or not paying enough attention to the stage. It always felt satisfying to solve the puzzles but the story is what kept me engaged, it just effortlessly tells such an engaging and compelling narrative with so little, and it makes the player use the puzzle solving skills to fully build this narrative. The main game along with the DLCs are a must-play if you liked games like Obra Dinn.
Pretty decent game, I enjoyed many of the puzzles but toward the end there is so much clicking back and forth required that I just lost interest a bit and resorted to walkthroughs. I feel the game could be improved if there was a better hints system (ie it recognises you're stuck and points you in a certain direction).
This game is amazing, it is smart and it expects you to be, too. It is solvable if one pays attention, far from being simple, and is extremely satisfying. P.S. Played on SteamDeck, great experience.
My partner was glad when I finished these games because I became a worse person. The puzzles range from fantastic and you feel great from figuring them out, to like a complete moron because you couldn't READ APPARENTLY. Fun fact, I copy and pasted this from my other review of the sequel to this game, why did I do that you ask? Because their the exact same game and truly no difference at all. Take that as you will.
The game is perfect. The art the music and the puzzles. Its all perfect. I was put off initially because I thought I didnt even like this kind of game very much because of past experiences. Ive heard many people refer to it as something akin to obra dinn, and I didnt think obra dinn was a great game, I thought it was just fine. So anyway, the game is quite like obra dinn! BUT the quality in how they put this together was done so well that it just completely erased any of the problems ive ever felt in any game like this. So nice to look at and listen to and figure out. Nothing ever felt cheap, nothing ever felt like it was too difficult or obscure or logic leapy. An amazing experience.
This is such a well put together game! I played the demo years ago, and enjoyed it, but had just let it languish on my wishlist for years. Finally decided to get it during this year's Summer Sale, and have no regrets. It's basically like a much cooler version of grid logic puzzles. The story is extremely convoluted, but the clues and connections are breadcrumbed out in just the right tempo to provide a number of very satisfying "aha!" moments throughout. The complex and ever shifting allegiances, the multitude of characters with different motives: all worked together to create a fascinating plot web. The graphics are really distinctive and interesting, making every character slightly grotesque, and the tableaus are all so cool looking and fun to inspect. It's not a super long game, but I'd say it's really just right: not so short you feel unsatisfied, but not so long it turns into a grind. And the increasing complexity of the story ramps up the logic puzzles nicely as well. It's also cool how the various chapters fold back into each other and provide meta-clues for the overarching story. I just found this really satisfying and would heartily recommend it to anyone who enjoys sleuthing and solving logic puzzles.
I've been a massive fan of puzzle games for over 20 years. This game scratched an itch that I didn't even know I had.
I think this was a great puzzle game! It has a fun and beautiful artstyle and i think the gameplay is also great. It was a bit short for the official price, but I got it on sale and I also understand a game like this takes a lot of work, so I think it is fair.
Great Game but you can't replay it. (You physically can't start a new game)
