Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.14/day in the week to Aug 31 → 6.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Game is amazing one of the best metroidvanias ive played ina while!!!!!
Awesome game. 9/10. Very much like Ninja Gaiden, but with improved and more varied gameplay. Would be 10/10 but for me the music isnt as good as Ninja Gaiden, and the sprites are a bit small for how much screen real estate there is.
Holy moley

As someone who grew up on PC gaming whose first Nintendo console was the Switch, I never had any nostalgia for the SNES gaming era or any of the retro titles like Ninja Gaiden. But pure enthusiasm can sometimes be an infectious thing, and The Messenger was a game so full to the brim with it that it left me wistful for a childhood past that I had never experienced. The lovingly crafted pixel animations and the rich chiptune music brought the world of The Messenger to life, and sparked in me a genuine interest in the Nintendo classics that had inspired it. But more than anything, what I loved most about The Messenger was its experimental creativity. I knew from the marketing material that this game would be a very unorthodox Metroidvania, but I was still a bit worried when I saw just how linear the first half of it appeared to be. It was essentially a Super Mario style scrolling platformer, albeit a very fun one. Then the game suddenly morphed. In art, music, genre, and story, its transformation into a Metroidvania felt natural and complete. The playful details in both the level design and visuals that persisted through the two halves of the game enhanced the magical feeling of finding a new layer of unexpected mystery underneath the familiar and well-trodden paths. This spirit of playful experimentation permeated the entire length of The Messenger, culminating in the free Picnic Panic expansion which had some of my favorite mechanical twists. The story never took itself very seriously either, and seemed to thrive on humorous subversions more than any kind of dramatic conflict. I even enjoyed the 4th wall breaking dialogue and self aware meta-jokes, which I think would’ve become grating without the wholesome cast of characters to balance them out. Because of the bisected design of the game, I’m sure most players would end up preferring one section over the other. I personally liked the latter Metroidvania half more, but appreciated the morphing nature of The Messenger’s structure which made it a more memorable experience overall. The game also had some rough edges; the flow of the game would’ve been much tighter with more flexible fast travel options, and some of the upgrades in the skill tree could’ve been just default features instead. But if you’re the sort of person who values unconventional games with imperfect yet ambitious ideas, then I would highly recommend The Messenger.
Great game, i loved the storys and the writting. Very fun game play would recomend.
I have not had this much fun since Super Metroid
