Reviews
While there were minor changes that I had to get used to, such as turbo mode not working during Order animations and the nerfs to breaking enemies, I greatly enjoyed everything this game had to offer. Build expression is as diverse as ever. The concept of the curse pretty much allowed the story writers to do whatever, and while I would've preferred a more concrete story, it was fine nonetheless with a satisfying ending.
Perhaps my favorite series that I will never convince any of my friends to play. ilysm Kondo

One of the best JRPG games out there. PERIOD. The legend of heroes franchise is so underrated it can get. I love that you have to play the old ones to understand the newer ones too. You get more play time , stories , combat etc. BUY BUY BUY! <3
Trails of Cold Steel 4 is one of the only games in this series that has left me this conflicted. The story isn't terrible but not amazing either, just decent. If you played every other Trails game up to this point you will be rewarded BIG TIME because you will see A LOT of familiar faces from both the Liberl and Crossbell arcs. Their interactions with the story, and each other, are easily some of the best moments of this entire game. On top of that both new and old Class VII have some great character growth/interactions as well with Atlina being a big standout for me. Additionally, the game will constantly make nods and references towards the previous games storylines, as well as finally concluding some of the bigger plot points that were built up over the series up until this point. Combat is just as fun as it was in Cold Steel III. Most notably, Falcom did a little rebalancing of the Brave Order mechanic to make it less game breaking by gating some of the stronger orders behind optional challenge chests. But other than that you have a enormous cast of characters to build a party with allowing you to make a party filled with your favorite characters, or fully optimized party designed to break the game. Now to my gripes with this game. For some reason it seems that Falcom was absolutely terrified of killing characters off or making ANYONE a villain in this game. Two characters towards the end of Cold Steel III are tragically "killed" leading to some very impactful moments in that game only for this game to say "erm achsually they missed their vitals and are being controlled" or "erm achsually we can revive X character now because of this" leading me to believe that there is no sense of danger in this game at all. Also, if you think ANYONE is a villain in this game, well think again. Every villain in this game is either manipulated by a curse or is just "misunderstood". This is so frustrating because Osborne is made out to be this ruthless and cunning villain that knows exactly what to say and what to do, only to do a complete 180 and be like "erm acshually it was the curse doing all that and I was actually rooting for the heros the whole time". Cold Steel IV also continues the horrid harem bit making almost every single female fawn at the sight or idea of Rean. It is honestly such as disservice to the female cast because Falcom could have easily used their bonding events to flesh out these characters more, but instead only use it as a way for you to romance a teacher, classmate, or, in some cases, a minor. Falcom should just give up on the harem or pickable romance bit, and instead just make a canon romance like how Metaphor did it. In that game there is an implied/canon romance, which seemingly forced/allowed ATLUS to flesh out the female cast of characters because now instead of doing the social link to romance a character, you're doing it so that you can learn more about their character. Overall Cold Steel IV is such a messy and conflicting game. This game is at its peak when it comes to certain overarching plot points and when you're in battle engaging with its great gameplay. But Falcom's cowardice towards killing off characters, making anyone a villain, and fleshing out certain characters kick you straight off that peak and into gross, messy crevice. Even though I'm heavily conflicted on how I feel about this game, it is a must play for anyone who has played through the whole series up until this point.
An epic conclusion to an epic tale!
a bit overstuffed and predictable in comparison to how perfect cold steel 3 was, but the gameplay is just as good as always, the music is at its peak, and seeing the resolution of these characters after so many years of play is another level of exciting that i dont think you can even get out of any other game series a worthy conclusion of an 8 game saga, im waiting to see what falcom has for me next!
