Really felt like an epic finale
I binged through the first 5 Trails games and that was one of the best gaming experiences in terms of immersion. Starting Cold Steel 1 was like hitting a wall. Contrived school setting, even less voice acting, jarring 3d graphics replacing the detailed portraits. A bloated cast that impressively keeps bloating, not once getting pruned throughout the series. I took almost a year off, unintended, just couldn't stomach it. Though I still love it, I was so ready to say goodbye to this whole cast. It ended up feeling like a lot of unused potential in an attempt to give everyone equal coverage. Anyway, I can't complain, I knew what it was. I think 4 games was really way too long. Did people really love Rean that much? Then again, I would have gotten tired of ANY character across that much time. The overall grand scale conflicts were interesting, but much too drawn out. And ultimately nothing really plays out, it keeps sort of circling back to the beginning, where nobody really faces any consequences beyond "sorry about that, I actually had good intentions all along, I see clearly now" I think in some way this has always been a Trails thing, and maybe my negative disposition towards Cold Steel caused me to see the problem with it. And after that much repetition of the same hooks and gimmicks, I suppose it was bound to wear off at some point But I can't complain, or well, I haven't complained. I consumed it all and it was too much. Sunk cost fallacy, and not wanting to skip over anything. I can't complain.......

Repetitive, boring, and too harem for my taste. I finished 1-3 with no problem but this one is just eww.

Very good jrpg
As a grand finale to the first half of the series I greatly enjoyed it, the pay offs to character arcs leading all the way back to the first Sky game were great and Osborne was by far the best villain so far. Act 2 sucked though
Already finished the Cold Steel series on PS4, but had to buy them again on steam in order to write this review. This is the best conclusion to a series you could ask for :)

17 hours in and still have not played as Rean. WTF
While there were minor changes that I had to get used to, such as turbo mode not working during Order animations and the nerfs to breaking enemies, I greatly enjoyed everything this game had to offer. Build expression is as diverse as ever. The concept of the curse pretty much allowed the story writers to do whatever, and while I would've preferred a more concrete story, it was fine nonetheless with a satisfying ending.
