For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.

About

At the turn of the millennium, the world of Tahnra is headed for a reckoning. The long and bloody conflict of Veridian Succession left the Empire of Veridia scarred, its people subject to brutal hardships. Under the reign of Empress Florina, the vicious cycle seemed to be broken, until a rogue General abducted her from the capital, mustering his own armies and raising the flag of rebellion. You, a young academy graduate, will command an expedition against these forces… a conflict that will set off a chain of events and shake the very foundations of the world.

Great strategy RPG, it's my first time fighting with squads, as I'm more used to tactical RPGs, but it was quite fun. There is quite a lot of customization even at the individual unit level, so if you like min maxing and trying out different builds I think this will be right up your alley. On things I did not like as much, UI is a bit cumbersome at times, and for many things you need to check the tutorial notes since the game will not tell you. Story was actually decent during the first half, then it started spiraling down and the ending felt very rushed and a bit anti-climatic. Overall if you come from tactical RPGs like I do I think you will find the squad fights quite novel and the gameplay quite fun. Totally recommended!

Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga es un gran SRPG.

I have a soft spot for indie games and turn based strategy which really attracted me to try this game. For those who are browsing what kind of game SoW is, the nearest comparison I can get from what I have played before is Unicorn Overlord and Fire Emblem. It's core gameplay is turn based strategy similar to FE with you and opponent taking turns moving your own units and battling each other. It takes the Unicorn Overlord twist of using an army/group as a functional unit during battles which you create and develop in between chapters. You mix-&-match different unit types (like paladins, swordsmen, mages, dragons) to create a group that serve your needs as vanguard, support, or artillery. You further customize each group through use of different systems like artifacts which provides a group buff/debuff/unique effects or through skill books which you can give to each unit in the group. With permadeath function on, the game becomes classic FE with positioning and strategy becoming much more important. In terms of gameplay, I really enjoyed the freedom of customization the game has provided. I honestly spent a lot more time customizing the armies in between chapters as I enjoyed building specific concepts for each army. I appreciate the fact that the customization level is relatively free and not something that can make or break your run (unlike TTRPGs like Baldur's gate or Divinity 1&2) so you can play it without resorting to guides and playthrough reset. The stage designs are for most part good and challenging with some great stage designs on several key chapters. Actual battles is pretty much straightforward with how they go. It will definitely scratch that classic turn based itch. The new game+ in the DLC provides good replayability value as it staggers how you can access your old units from previous runs. In terms of world building and story, I honestly think it has a good premise but is just lacking in the story telling skill. Political intrigue, fantasy, sabotage, and betrayal are good tools to use but the script and dialogue are kind of lacking in delivering emotions or story. Some of the plot sometimes do jump around ahead too much without proper context or buildup which can really confuse the player at times. Overall, given the scale, budget, and limitations of the game engine used, I still highly recommend SoW for those who like turn based games and customizing their units. For the price point, its a really great game and hard enough to enjoy strategizing. For experienced players, I highly suggest going straight to Warlord Permadeath run for your 1st run - Challenging but not impossible even if you do not grasp the systems right ahead. I highly suggest not reading build guides and just read gameplay mechanics/guides to help you understand how battle and army building works. Gameplay 9/10 Game customization 10/10 Story 8/10 Overall 9/10
Recommendation: if you like turn based RPGs: Buy! Buy! Buy! Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga (SOW) is bursting with old school, console game vibes, but in truth, is an outstanding modern rpg. It presents a perfect blend of unit building, tactics, tech tree advancement, and resource management, all driven by an engaging, although sometimes a bit melodramatic storyline. It is a very impressive effort by an indie developer, Dancing Dragon Games. Had I known about it and played it back in its 2022 release year, I probably would have voted for it as the RPG of the Year. SOW is an auto-battler. If you're like me and don't really like auto-battlers, don't let that throw you off. In this game, it works. While the actual battles are handled automatically, you have complete control over the movement of your units on the battlefield. Only when you commit to an attack - or get attacked - do you enter the auto battler mode. Battle are presented in a you go, they go format. Whether you are fighting on offense or defense dramatically changes how some units react. Judicious use of resources to optimize offensive units and defensive units in their respective roles makes your playthroughs much easier. The game is divided into Chapters. Except for a few Chapters, each Chapter begins with you being able to hire new troops, buy items, sell items, or exchange items for things you need to promote your units You can then flesh out your armies in whatever way you desire. But, choose wisely, because certain troops need certain enhancements to be effective and the things you need will always seem to be fewer in quantity than what you have. Some special battles called Arenas can also be accessed. Arenas are great places to help train up newer armies, gain some cash, and get some nice rewards. There are also some additional side quest-like battles you can pursue. Don't worry, all uncompleted side quests and arena battles carry over from Chapter to Chapter. Once you have all the unit building done, you can Deploy to the main Chapter battlefield. Unless you are playing with Permadeath on, armies you lose in battle reappear in the next chapter. Most Chapters have multiple criteria for success, including building captures, turn constraints, varying characters surviving, and more. The Chapter scenarios change up enough to keep battles from being repetitive - and they sometimes throw in surprises that will have you scrambling if you haven't played the chapter before. Armies consists of a Leader and up to 8 additional units. Basic classes are Light infantry, Heavy infantry, Light Cavalry, Heavy Cavalry, Casters, and Healers. You will also gain access to Dragons and War Cats as you progress. Dragons are the stars of many battles, but do not neglect the War Cats; they can be game changers. While losing certain characters result in losing a Chapter (and having to replay it), losing your Main Character (MC) results in losing the game. Most successful playthroughs will see you building your MC as a support Army. There is more than just the insta-loss aspect to this: as the story develops, your MC becomes to only character in the game able to resurrect units on the battlefield, so it makes sense to grow the MC's army as a support Army. Resurrection is also available at Temples if the Chapter battlefield has one. However, they are not always at the most convenient locations and meeting turn requirements significantly helps you advance your progression up the tech tree, so relying on temples is iffy. It really doesn't matter much in the end. You end up growing attached to all your armies, so just go into the game knowing your MC will end up becoming a healer army. You gain 4 other main storyline characters (who eventually become the Nephilim) you will end up liking just as much as your MC. Overall, you have 30 Chapters to complete, many Arenas (the numbers depend on the luck of your drops and what you find in the stores), and multiple side quests. There are 4 difficulty levels levels to try and you can always turn on permadeath if it becomes too easy. It all combines to create a game that is more than worthy of its asking price. Strongly recommended!
