We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Reviews
Don't get me wrong, the game itself is great. They took the best parts of the older games and put it all together. But the problem is the need for always online connection. I was in the middle of a cutscene in story mode and I get thrown into the title screen suddenly because bandai's servers fail to communicate through no fault of my own. Thats a big problem there.
A live service game that asks for full price at the door. The single player component is 10-15 hours of braindead-easy hack & slash with the typical simplistic writing you normally see in anime crossover games. The single player component alone might be justifiable at $5-10 if you're a big SAO fan. Multiplayer is lacking in obvious QoL features and endgame content. The playerbase tanked by 90% after the first month and never recovered. Games need 5 players to even start and it's a fight to achieve that. The game's matchmaking was region locked for months and forced most players to figure out they had to switch to the JP server to even find games and then always suffered lag for their trouble. There is no competent way for games to be filled due to all players being skewed between account levels that only affect stat inflation when mechanics could have easily been designed differently to full everyone into a smaller number of queues. The game isn't designed to deal with AFK'ers running in circles at the start of a level to get mission rewards when the rest of the room finishes. Games in progress only have a tiny window to fill and then you're stuck with 15+ NPCs that can't pull their weight and if anyone drops it compounds the slog. Levels are randomly generated from a very small pool of possible rooms so they get stale fast. All gear drops are locked behind RNG and key components of your build may take hours before the game graces you. Most builds themselves lack depth and most equate to the same skill choices regardless of character with barely any unique options for individual characters. Half the cosmetics are locked behind a brutal season pass system grind or absurdly expensive microtransactions. Most cosmetics are colour swaps of existing costumes or ripped straight from previous games. DLC characters are way too expensive. Multiplayer should have been free-to-play and even then this is far from acceptable as a live service. But uh, Silica is playable and I can change her outfits, so 10/10.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 29: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I have played this game for 1110 hours honestly it was fun especially if you are an SAO fan however the game is made of paper if it crashes randomly WHICH IT WILL it can just corrupt all your data WHICH IT DID to me and Steam WILL save the corrupt data into the ONLY steam cloud save data I have lost nearly all of my work All characters above level 30 Most of the female cast above level 50 (for outfits) Most outfits I've grinded out All story progress All Neige fragments Strea level 130 (cap as of right now) Silica level 100 Max player Rank THE ENTIRE PLAYABLE CAST INCLUDING DLC CHARACTERS ALL OF THE RARE DROP OUTFITS and accessories FROM Individual missions that have less than 1% drop rates ALL my currency like 50mil ALL my secondary Currencies (besides the new one just added for some reason) I've kept All my Tower progress (challenge mode thing) My weapons and Accessories The new Accessories they just added Outfits and accessories gained from promotions (maybe not all of them don't have access to ANY female characters so I cannot actually tell) or SAO Tickets I didn't check rememberance crystals or their buffs which would be pretty frustraiting to lose HOW has this level of incompetence been allowed to exist for this long this was an issue known from week one and THEY CLEARLY could fix this at ANY TIME This is an issue that is part STEAMS fault as well as Bandai Namco and the Fractured Daydream's team Steam Why do we not have MULTIPLE Steam cloud saves spanning over multiple days at any given time? BN & SAO Team HOW DO WE HAVE SYSTEMS IN PLACE TO SAVE SOME THINGS BUT NOT EVERYTHING WHAT IN THE HECK IS THE FREAKIN POINT FIX YOUR DANG GAME AS SOON AS THESE THINGS COME ABOUT I am quite upset about this as you can tell spending 1110 hours to lose everything does that to you Back up your saves if you decide to play the game and good luck ye who enter I think I'm done till the next one unless they make a dumb game breaking update that trivializes the grind completely ignores story requirements and potentially ruins everything for the remaining players to bring in new players even then it's a maybe for me as I don't want to see the game in that state Well every game has it's end I guess stay safe out there
DO NOT BUY!! Play any other SAO game than this; look at Steam charts. This game is the most pointless grind. You don't get new moves; it takes forever to unlock the higher-tier stuff. All that changes is the number on the screen. It doesn't matter if this game is 50% off or 90% off just don't buy it. The solo play was mid at best. I went in wanting to love this game, wanted to 100% it in achievements, but I stopped because it was repetitive, boring, and not worth the effort. There were fun moments, but the game was designed to fail. If they added skill trees, more progression, anything like the other games, it might be better. This game has about 160 players online on Steam. It’s meant to be a multiplayer experience, but there’s no one online. Save your money. All they basically do is add a new character to try and get money with little to no new content. Don’t look at that price tag and think, "Not a bad price." It’s not worth it.
i will start by saying, this game was incredibly fun at launch and had immense potential. the combat was pretty fluid, most characters were fun and none felt like you were purposely holding your team back by playing. unfortunately, that's where the the good things to say ends. I noticed real quick that once you were done with the story, the co-op events were the only kind of content you could do. that doesn't sound too bad, but with how low the player count was even on launch, that quickly became a real problem for Australian's, meaning that only about a week after launch, you would either have to wait 10+ minutes, or play on worse servers just to find a game with real players. Now, onto the actual content: nothing. that's right, other than harder bosses, and maybe an occasional different map for the higher difficulties, there was little to nothing different to do. beat enemies, teleport, beat some more enemies, either teleport again or press buttons for awhile THEN teleport, beat the same like 3-4 bosses, rinse and repeat. at first, this seems okay, but once you're deep enough into the game and you start doing endgame content, it becomes extremely tedious and boring. if more unique content was brought out instead of just releasing new characters, this game might have lived for much longer. Now, as I said in the previous sentence, I'm going to talk about the character situation. what the hell. on launch, there was already a decent amount of characters, but of course, for some people, myself included, felt it was weird how certain characters wasn't included immediately, but once it was announced basically before the game even came out that strea was going to be a character you have to buy with real money, it was obvious what they were going to do. sure enough, they started to churn out character packs, all costing real money. I stopped playing around 3 weeks into the game being out, but from what stuff I had heard, pretty much every character that came out after launch was broken in some form. I'm making this review after seeing the announcement of alo kirito, and the fact that it was a skin for base Kirito that changes virtually nothing about him. Sadly, I dont believe this game can be saved at this point, and really wish that a company that actually cares about either sao or making a good anime game that keeps faithful to the original source would takeover.
*Edit for January 2026* Please let this game die. There will never be an update for this that adds anything. Do not buy any sword art game, period. They have milked that teet for way too long and it is raggedy. *Quick Update* Game is still very dead. Do NOT purchase it, period. Game should honestly be removed and servers shut off. 55 in game right now on SteamDB. Check it out. Need 20 to run most things.. or 5 and 15 bots. Let those 55 poor souls go from your wrath and kill the game. Pretty dead game. Bought it because of hope, they've added no new content since it came out. People in the discussions only talk about "Oh, they just patched it. for one bug. and added a free sticker based off an anime they are running", but there isn't anything coming. No talk of content, nothing. Steer clear of this Scamdai game until they actually do something with it.

bought the game hoping for decent action game, didn't get that. stayed for 300hrs to figure out whats good, what works, how it works etc. in the end, the experience is layer 1 shallow, there is virtually no skill expression, and the gearing/content loop is absurd, although they're *attempting* to address some of it in *season 2* they are still not fixing the fundamental errors that make this game absurdly unfun. >progression is complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you will spend the first 70-80hrs of your game experience just trying to reach rank 100, post season 2, the grind to 50 will be reduced, but the worst part of it (85-100) will be untouched. there is also no-one playing the content of the lower ranks/world-tiers. CPU/bot lobbies are dreadfully slow and teach you nothing of the game, even worse, is that the content you're doing is Co-Op quests, which by r100 you will find out all the knowledge you have accrued is absolutely worthless as r100+ content is exclusively boss raids >the enemies don't fight you you either roll the enemies to death in half a second, or you find arbitrary ways to avoid or mitigate them entirely. this includes bosses, but with how bad the ping is, you essentially just smack a big wall until it kills you (you're only dying in EX) for an action game with perfect guards/dodges, you almost never use them (also a DPS loss.) >the gearing is abysmal in endgame, you will need to setup your build with a specific set of equipment with desirable traits. getting a legendary item, is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rare (1 in 10 on average iirc) then getting the item for your class-type (1 in 6) AND then getting the correct legendary trait (1 in about 5 or so depending on the item) AND then you need to farm several legendary and epic items to take stat lines for to create a desirable item. for every character. for every build. weapons are almost entirely worse as for most characters, 75% of legendary effect options are ass, and one is locked to a specific element. even then, you require a weapon of every element that character has access to, with desirable traits, desirable legendary effect, then its RNG whether or not its EX (objective 10% dps increase) and if its lv.98-100 (average loss of 1.2% per level iirc) in my 300hrs, with what i consider to be extremely lucky (and i was always 4-stacking in one of, if not, THE fastest party on the entire game) i was only able to fully gear up 2 characters. (silica/eiji) most players will never get fully optimised gear unless they're 500hrs deep. i won't even go into how some of the BiS traits like crit have like a sub 2% chance of even appearing on gear, or the fact blue rarity and below cannot be used to take traits from, as i'd be writing a 50k word international crisis report. >combat is very bland and expressionless all characters share the same attack sequence profile, there are no jumpcancels to take advantage of, guard/dodge cancels are often suboptimal and have an arbitrary cooldown between uses and are very clunky. every character essentially boils down to "find optimal normal attack chain, find optimal skill, use off cooldown and repeat" with absolutely no exceptions. a lot of the top-tier characters have basic skills that can be indefinitely looped for easy, free damage. as expected, there are no hard execution characters, one resource heavy character who is bugged as ♥♥♥♥, a couple of gimmicks that are mostly shared amongst several cast members at the same time etc. combined with a lack of response from the enemies, there is just nothing satisfying or fun. again, basic overview, but i only really have negative things to add. >balancing (not just character balancing) the roster is horrendously balanced, from characters having easy damage that infinitely tracks and has no weaknesses to characters who carry every utility, to characters who literally do the exact same thing BETTER than another character because "lol", and some characters who are incapable of doing virtually anything. the balancing is an absolute mess. element damage fundamentally in my opinion upsets the game balance entirely, and makes balancing the game impossible from a developer standpoint. element adds a flat 20% additional damage boost to any damage done on an enemy, provided you hit them with the element they are weak to. (relink anyone?) where the issues comes in, is that all (besides 3) characters are missing at least one element from their weapon roster. and mobs, where present in boss raids, might have a different elemental weakness than the boss, and finally, the BIGGEST problem, is that all characters have at least one elementally-locked skill. the issue here, is that certain characters now have certain parts of their moveset completely made redundant or useful based on ONE select piece of content. sometimes an ENITRE CHARACTER becomes completely unplayable if their missing element is the weakness of the boss in current rotation. even worse yet, characters can have legendary effects on their weapons to change their elementally locked skill into a new element, which is also fixed to one type only, and grants a FURTHER 20% damage boost vs. that element. making gearing and character power even more matchup dependant. as explained earlier, its also completely unviable to use multiple characters for specific bosses/quests, as you would quite simply never gear them in time. element simply makes or breaks your damage performance, especially considering elemental damage stat lines are commonly one of the best overall damage increasing options, alongside the elemental damage boost mod that can drop in missions. (elemental damage is also capped out to 100%... because ♥♥♥♥ you in even more hyper-specific scenarios) there's also stuff like skill cooldown on crit that breaks the game, but it is what it is. so in the end, you will be playing a game that requires 70-80hrs before you can even properly start playing it, with extremely shallow combat, no progression, an endless grind that you cannot win, with poorly balanced characters and mechanics, whilst having a concurrent playerbase of under 300 people. yeah i'd probably buy it in a sale for a laugh in 5 years time.
