not sure if Firefly dudes get it, but more bugs in subsequent releases of the franchise is not what gamers want setting aside the frustrating "diplomacy" system and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of other annoyances inb4 I played hundreds of hours. just playing while thinking how could this game actually be

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

To quote my favorite British TV presenter: "How the mighty have fallen." When I think of all the previous games in the series, the enemy would at least provide a few different lines and reactions... not here... Enemy attacks would be interesting, and sometimes even difficult to defend against... not here... The enemy would have some logic, and he built several types of castles, depending on the enemy and the map he was on; we all remember good old Wolf, his oil around the castle... not here... And then they dare to ask for 15-20 euros for such garbage in the series... no.. good try, I got the game for 5 euros... and that's a lot, you pretentious gentlemen. "And on that bombshell", it is time I end this crap.
The Warlords might have been an interesting idea, but the execution is outright broken and makes the game worse than if it wasn't there at all. Late game against AI's, the Warlords become extremely annoying because the AI's will just keep spamming the diplomacy thing to turn them against you, and there's not really anything you can do about it. Also, nerf mortars. Look, just go play Stronghold 2, or Crusader DE.
Decent, but doesn't really improve on the stronghold formula. In many respects this game is a strict downgrade from Crusader and Stronghold II, in that walls can only be one size, there are very limited tower sizes and designs, no moats of any kind. No siege engineers of any kind. No sappers. I'm not going to get into the laughable unit balance, or how ballista and catapults have a substantially shorter range than archers while simultaneously being almost unable to accurately hit anything. The warlord system is more or less an expansion of what we saw in stronghold II, except you can't build in your warlord's territory at all, and you can have them get yoinked out from under you using diplomacy. You can use diplomacy to steal your enemy's lords, but beyond that, there's nothing especially new here. Optimization is just... not there. Look at my specs; This is a gaming rig, and a competent one. This came hangs and chugs a bit in skirmish mode, and not even when there are a lot of units on the screen or on the field in general. In addition to optimization issues, this is a buggy mess of a game. You can and will get units stuck INSIDE of walls, especially where they connect to towers or gatehouses. Pathfinding is a mess; In some missions, the lords you have are worthless, because their units cannot find their way to the enemy. It is worth buying only if you are dead set on an ersatz stronghold I with an Asian pastiche, otherwise, skip this one, and go play crusader or stronghold II.
Folks, this is on sale for 3.99 right now. You'd be crazy to pass over it. This solid entry in the franchise takes you to Asia where you will have new buildings and supply chains such as making silk clothes for your populace, and new units such as blow-darts and fireworks launchers. It's all well-drawn and well-animated and full of the classic Stronghold charm. The biggest new mechanic is the Warlords system which puts various other settlements on the map with which you can conquer, try to avoid, or spend your diplomacy points on which are generated by certain envoy buildings. This allows you to make new tactical and strategic decisions. Occasionally, I found it annoying when a Warlord was directly between me and the Lord I wanted to attack, but that's all part of the new map design, and it's worth the trade-off. The biggest negative for me was the 3D engine used felt dated and pushed beyond its limits. Performance should be good for most considering it's 5 years old now. The color filter can be turned off in the config file. I did not experience crashing.

Not that different from any other 3D Stronghold hate is exaggerating.
