Successor to the roguelike RPG "Elona". Adventure, survival, crafting, home-building, myths passed down, and stories of humans and Elea spun. What scars will you leave on the land of Ylva?

Reviews
I could not narrate the average sequence of events I would go through in a day of this game without being institutionalized.
This is the kind of game you that you start new, binge for 40 hours, start to get the hang of it and forget about for 6 months. Play again not knowing what is going on, start a new game, binge for 40 hours, start to get the hang of it and forget about for 6 months. rinse and repeat. I love the game, but never know what's going on.

I put 350 hours into this game as of March 2025 (only a few months after release) and I would happily sink another 1000 - but the 'little sister' content just gets more and more overtly pedophilic the further you get into this game and it becomes impossible to pretend it's just a quirky side product of the silly proc gen. This stuff is included deliberately, for an audience who will adamantly downplay its depictions of children and babies in romantic and sexual situations. A lot of the stuff isn't even *wink* *nudge* anymore - it's just transparent and gross
decided to play a piano in public to pay my taxes and immediately got my head smashed in with a rock by a guard for not playing good enough. so i decided to take a quest to harvest plants, thinking it would be a safe bet, and was promptly crushed to death under the weight of several elephant sized vegetables. and as a last resort i went to the casino where I unfortunately died from exhaustion from playing slots for to long. 10/10 most fun I've had on a game in a while.
You need to understand this game is an obsession. There are 10,000 things you could be working on and all of them make you better. It's also the most utterly insane and unintuitive game i have ever played. Wanna optimize fishing? Okay. Go collect some flowers and break them down with a hammer into leaves. These leaves are actually made of food and you can use them to craft arrows which will in turn also be made of food. Then place these arrows into a compost box and wait a bit and they will turn to fertilizer. Now take the fertilizer and break THOSE down with a hammer into a stack of like 300 corpses. You can now turn each of the corpses into bait. Now that you have a stack of like 300 bait you can AFK fish for like half an hour until you've caught hundreds upon hundreds of fish. Grind the fish down as a carpenters workbench into fish flakes then ferment them in barrels to make fish wine which you can sell for crazy money. Now you can spend the gold bars you make from exporting goods to expand your lands or buy new skills which you can level but OH you got a bunch of junk coins while fishing too. These you can use in villages at gatcha machines for random crap which you can throw in your base to increase it's value and while you're hear you can spend some of the cash on high level food to increase your stats and GOOD GOD WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ AM I PLAYING I JUST LOST 10 HOURS! Just get it. This is honestly the logical conclusion of the entire video game genre.
I want to love Elin, but right now it's got some real progression problems. It markets itself as this open sandbox, but the early game is a bottleneck in disguise. If you're not fishing for cash and min-maxing food slices for stat gains, you're going nowhere. Most of the "freedom" you get early on is just a time sink — explore too much without a plan and you're wasting resources for basically nothing. The onboarding doesn't help. The tutorial is a slog of mandatory reading, not an actual guide, and you're stuck with it before you can do anything else. Once you're out in the world, hunger drains fast and difficulty spikes hit hard, so exploring feels risky instead of fun. Even building up a town is a letdown — most jobs are useless, and Gold Bars hit diminishing returns so fast your economy craters. Crafting is the real dealbreaker though. You're stuck making starter-tier gear forever, which makes mining pointless and pushes you toward dungeon RNG or vendor shopping instead. So much of the game just isn't fleshed out or doesn't math out, and you end up needing outside guides to make sense of it — except even those aren't great. Elin has real potential, but as it stands, it's way too easy to get stuck in a grind where most of your choices just don't matter.
