For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Developers abandoned this game for years and then, as if nothing had happened, droped a vinyl release for 10th anniversary. They take us for dumb fools or what..
Great game, but the company decided that one of it's potential best sellers was abandonware material instead. Then they go and release a vinyl for their "10th anniversary" even though they've done *nothing* for this game in years. If they decided to update this game with some major updates I'll change my review to a thumbs up, but I know that won't happen. This game was such a huge part of growing up, and it's sad that the company abandoned this title and then desperately clawing for more money from us by trying to sell us vinyl, which will inevitably get people buying into their garbage again. On to another point, this company decided they didn't need to pay underaged volunteers to log hundreds of hours of coding, writing, and design work on Starbound whilst the company leadership profited off of it. Their response to this was also dumb, as they stated that they had no formal obligation to work specific hours or to meet any strict deadlines, which I'm sure we all understand is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ when it comes to the gaming industry. It's just another clear cut case of corporate greed and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ people owning great game titles. There's a reason Stardew Valley's creator Eric Barone publicly announced that he developed Stardew Valley entirely alone and moved the game to self-publishing to distance himself from the issues that Chucklefish has. I also need to state that Finn Brice did indeed decide to berate and yell at Clark Powell when his business ethics were questioned. On to the Kickstarter now, this game was over-hyped, promising a deep procedural sandbox universe, with many options from back then not currently existing in today's version of the game. On its early launches, it was an underdeveloped "tech demo" which was missing foundational features as advertised on the Kickstarter. It also now is missing features from earlier versions of the game's lifespan as well, like fully randomized monsters, a lot of the old lore being completely scrapped, changing the story to be an entirely linear story progression rather than having unique introduction stories when you chose a specific race, racial identity was completely stripped away with Chucklefish having actively advertised races to have unique racial abilities and racial armor buffs, the 1.0 update ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up (quite a few things really) the melee gameplay when they decided that contact damage was needed so now all melee gameplay is backpedaling and kiting now instead of what it used to be, and I'm sure there is more that I'm missing but that's just the amount that I'm aware of without looking into it. There is a reason why Stardew Valley split from Chucklefish, there's a reason why Hopoo Games split from Chucklefish, and I pray to God that nobody else partners with Chucklefish, or if they do, they do something to revive this game. From the bottom of my heart, ♥♥♥♥ you specifically Finn Brice. You have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up with many things, your a shameless, unrepentant, entitled, manipulative, gatekeeping narcissist. Your verbally abusive to your peers, your hostile to any critique that isn't positive, you over-demand and under-compensate, and I hope someone replaces you ASAP so that someone with any sense can direct Chucklefish out of the ♥♥♥♥ hole that it's currently festering in. Your reputation is actively diminishing the time and effort that all of your employees do for you and I wouldn't be surprised if someone thought about you like Luigi Mangione did about Brian Thompson, especially after you repeatedly forced people to answer extremely private and personal questions about their sex lives publicly. There's a reason why when your name is googled, all of your controversies show up instead of your virtues. It's because you're a ♥♥♥♥ person. Give someone else the reigns and step down into retirement. Do everyone a favor and quit being the CEO.
The devs abandoned the game and they have the audacity to release a vinyl record to celebrate it's 10 year anniversary.
Developers released a very lackluster 1.0, leaving the game unfinished, and now they come out with a 10th anniversary vinyl to milk the abandoned community for whatever money they can get. They also didn't pay there employees, let chucklefish run dry, do not give them another dollar.
A game that didn't live up to its potential. Its last update was in 2024 and its last content update was before the Pandemic. Don't expect Terraria-level replayability: Starbound is shallow, and the developer scaled back many of their original lofty goals to shove the game out the door, after which they pivoted to their next title. If you want a 2D/side scroller, go play Terraria -- that developer is still releasing updates! If you want space-themed games, consider Space Engineers 1 (or 2, if you're reading this after late 2026) or Starship EVO. If you want base-building with a futuristic theme, consider Rimworld. But Starbound? Unfortunately, it's a dead end.
