Silent Hill Homecoming

I got it on deck. Doesn't work. So I refunded the games and got it on Xbox. Worth it. Loved it. Please don't come after me

SH: Homecoming is a mid game and even lower mid silent hill game. It was a good enough first attempt from a western studio to try and keep the franchise alive, and I personally dig the beats it borrows from the Silent Hill movie. It's not a bad game to get on sale, finish in 10~ hours and move on to the next... ...but it IS a bad game when it comes to the PC version. I don't believe I've seen such a lazy broken port: - Locked 30FPS - I'm not convinced that the resolution switcher works, game still looks like 720p - Audio plays only on the right speaker if on stereo - Control prompts missing while playing kb/m - Generic prompts (i.e. button 1) when playing with controller - You dare click the mouse during the intro logos? Freeze Thankfully, ShepherdPatch (https://github.com/xowny/ShepherdPatch) fixes most of these issues, and I'm currently contributing to try and fix the rest. There's also unknownproject's SHH patch but I don't know how deep the fixes go. With the patch, at 20€ and as a silent hill fan, yeah this is worth it. It has one of the best soundtracks in the series IMO and the story is on-brand ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.

everyone is leaving negative reviews because the game crashes too much. But It's really a good thing because it means you don't have to play the game.

I find it funny that Konami advertises this game on steam even though it is a broken port for an already terrible game.

Make sure you read community guides & tips because if your resolution is wrong, it WILL crash. But great game none the less, have always loved Silent Hill since PS1

Played this back in the day on the Xbox 360 and thought it was one of the better games in the SH series. So I grabbed a copy of the Steam version to replay on my ROG Ally after many years. Game ran fine for me, zero crashes, had controller support and still holds up pretty well today. If you’re a fan of the SH series, this is worth checking out. I’ve noticed a few people commenting about the game randomly crashing for them and the only thing I did before starting my playthrough was use the “NTCore 4GB Patch” to patch the game exe to help with potential crashing issues. SH: Homecoming a 32 bit app, so it can’t use more than 2GB RAM on modern systems, causing the crashing. The patch just allows the app to use more of your available system RAM, solving the issue. It’s needed for a lot of older games to run on newer systems. Any older PC ports of PS3 / Xbox 360 era games are usually 32 bit, so will need to patch the exe to allow the system to use more available memory. Just do a Google Search for NTCore 4GB patch and you’ll get the site to grab it from. All you need to do is point the patch to the game’s exe file in the main game folder and hit patch, all done! Hopefully this tip will help you enjoy the game without any future crashing!

This game blows ass. It was put on steam, but needs a patch from a 3rd party to run properly. The story is worse than most of the other silent hill stories and the combat is inconsistent. Only buy if you refuse to emulate the games and want to play something other than silent hill 2 remake and silent hill 4 or if you REALLY want to play every single silent hill game.
