For me SS2 was always the weakest entry in the series. I love TFE and TSE, SS3 as well, but this one always turned me off in a weird way. When it released back in the day I was so dissapointed because it looked like a comic shooter for kids, and it kinda is. Now all those years later, the game is optimized for new hardware, had a nice graphic overhaul, even achievements. It was fun to play trough the game two times but I dont think I'll ever go back. Its not a bad game and I really appreceate the love that Croteam gave this 20year old game, but its really just not my taste.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Serious Sam 2 > Serious Sam 3
A serious man on a serious mission to take down mental. In other words this game will make you.. mentally challenged. Final boss is gloopy but the rest of the cake is tasty. 8/10
Serious Sam 2 is my favorite in the series. I really love that Croteam just did whatever the hell they felt like doing and put it in the game. Most of the weapons and enemies from the first and second encounters return, but mostly in function. Visually everything looks comically unserious and while that turns some people off, I adore it. The Autoshotgun is one of the stupidest gun designs I've ever seen in a game but I like the vision. Gameplay-wise, Serious Sam 2 improved on its predecessors. It's easier to push up rather than be pushed back, you can throw grenades (why hasn't this returned?), you have vehicle and turret sections that are actually fun and fit well into the rest of the game. If you're a Sam fan I definitely recommend playing this one. If you have before and didn't like it, give it another chance. You might feel differently.
Serious Sam 2 is the most underrated game in the entire series. While many fans consider it the black sheep, I actually enjoyed it more than Serious Sam 3. To me, it felt like a true evolution of the classic formula established by TFE and TSE rather than a complete departure. When the game launched, a lot of people disliked it because of its colorful visuals, over the top humor, and cartoonish style. I can understand why longtime fans were put off, but I personally loved that direction. The humor is genuinely entertaining, the world is creative, and the game never takes itself too seriously. It has its own identity instead of trying to be another gritty military shooter. The combat is incredibly satisfying. It may not have the tactical depth of TFE and TSE, where you constantly had to think on your feet and switch weapons strategically depending on the enemy you’re facing. In Serious Sam 2, that aspect is mostly gone. You can defeat almost any enemy with whichever weapon you prefer, making it feel more like the Painkiller games. While that does reduce the strategic element, I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing. The game fully embraces fast, mindless arcade shooting, and it’s some of the most fun I’ve ever had in an FPS. Sometimes you just want to blast through endless hordes of enemies, and Serious Sam 2 absolutely delivers. That said, the game definitely has flaws. Some levels suffer from freezing and crashing bugs, which can be frustrating. The final boss is also a major disappointment. Instead of being an exciting climax, it’s mostly an exhausting bullet sponge that drags on far longer than it should. The final few levels also feel a bit overstretched and could have benefited from tighter pacing. Despite these issues, I still think Serious Sam 2 deserves far more appreciation than it gets. It may not be perfect, and it certainly isn’t as strategically demanding as the original games, but it’s an incredibly fun, energetic, and satisfying shooter. Its unique style, excellent humor, and nonstop action make it one of the most enjoyable FPS games I’ve ever played. 8/10
