nerds would dismiss this as a furry game when furries have seemingly been the only devs to make anything decent in this genre the past few years. it definitely has that unity/unreal engine project vibe to it, but it genuinely has potential. it probably has bettter AI than stalker 2. if you like stalker i'd keep tabs on this and see how it ends up, maybe even buy it.

I guess I bought this game at the right point in its development! I was not expecting NEARLY as much content as there is in the game so far, given its status in Early Access. I really really enjoy the worldbuilding done, the contracts that you can fulfill, the faction dynamics. Even if they're relatively simple right now, it feels like such a solid solid foundation. I've not even completed the game (is it... completable?) but I'm having such a good time exploring and working out things like which keys go to which doors, which terminals have certain information, etc. The anomalies are so sweet, and the SOUND DESIGN IS IMMACULATE! Voice acting and writing is so impressive for such a small dev team. (a couple people??) This is the only game that I've ever fully engaged with in-game note-jotting and picture-taking mechanics. I have to note down numbered lockers and their locations, door numbers if I want to open them in the future, and things I don't have access to yet so I can remember everywhere I need to revisit. Ah, what a wonderful game. I've been able to make quite a lot of progress discovering and working these things out myself, but I can feel that there's a lot more that I've simply missed or not remembered to double back on. One of my favourite features is that you can tune the difficulty upon making your save/character. +If you're a hardcore player or just want to play it like a Roguelike, you can being a permadeath character with some randomization. +If you want the standard experience you can play the Expedition mode, where you drop most of your items on death and respawn at your last bed, having to run back and pick your gear up. +If you're a casual player like me, you can turn on settings that autosave every time you cross a load zone, and death just reloads your save. +There are more tunable settings than that! There are so many little features in this game that I keep discovering, keyboard shortcuts like shift+middle click to take the ammo out of a weapon you're hovering and deposit it into your inventory. The only thing that has rubbed me the wrong way so far is the gun-wielding enemies being pinpoint accurate. You might get shot quite a lot as soon as you peek. On my playthrough, since I'm playing where death just reloads my save, it's not so bad. But on any of the other death-conditions you can select, it could remove quite a lot of progress.
gøy
It's peak. better at stalker than some of the actual stalker games.
Only played a few hours but as a fan of stalker and tarkov with other 2 thousand hours on tarkov, i can safely say this game scratches that itch.
