Opus Magnum is the latest open-ended puzzle game from Zachtronics, the creators of SpaceChem, Infinifactory, and SHENZHEN I/O. Design and build machines that assemble potions, poisons, and more using the alchemical engineer’s most advanced tool: the transmutation engine!

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.29/day in the week to Sep 10 → 5/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I saw another review that just said: > Apparently the youtube doomscroll algorithm knows its stuff. Thank you Goodbye Galaxy. And I 100% agree, one of the best puzzle games I've ever seen Thank you Goodbye Galaxy. (go watch his video if you are still doubting whether to buy it or not)

I love this game, I really do, this negative review is more about the lack of the small things in this game which makes everything tedious. You can't skip to a specific step in your solution instead you have to watch your own solution over and over and over again just to see a later part or just to trouble shoot, you can't copy and paste commands, and so many more smaller QoL things that would make it not so tedious on the higher level puzzles.
游戏是好游戏 但是没有复制粘贴 没有首轮特化 还有这Vitae和Mors用拉丁语其他元素用英语属实是没品
One of the best puzzle games I've ever played. I still can't believe they put out a DLC 8 years later and its just as good as the base game. Lots of player made puzzles in the workshop too.
My favorite Zachtronics game! Easily the most approachable puzzle game they've made, and a lot of fun to watch run once you get everything placed just right.
phenomenal. if you are a competitive person with a knack for visual coding and problem solving, then this game is for you.
So here's my situation: I ADORE SpaceChem. It's one of the oldest games in my library, and I go back to play it regularly. But I usually only ever get past the first couple chapters. Not because of the complexity, but because I absolutely hate the "boss" levels that require precise timing. I want a relaxing puzzle game about programming a complex machine; when I'm forced to hit specific quotas at specific points, the previously open-ended puzzles become much more restrictive. If this also sounds like you, you'll love Opus Magnum. I'm actually really upset that I didn't know this game existed until the release of the recent DLC. Every puzzle is beautifully open-ended; the end goal is optimization, of course, but absolutely nothing NEEDS to be optimized to complete a level. Manufacture the required product, even if it takes an absurd amount of time or uses way too many extra parts, and you pass the level. THEN, if you feel like it, you can go back and make things more efficient. This in itself opens up a lot of replayability, because I find myself wanting to go back through each level and create multiple solutions that each fully optimize one of the three tracked stats: cost, size, and runtime. Now, the puzzles in the second half get absolutely brain-bending, so don't get me wrong, this is not a simple or easy game. But unlike similar games in the genre, no solution ever feels out of reach, simply due to the effectively-infinite space you have on the board. There's nothing stopping you from making an unoptimized abomination of programming just to progress to the next level (there's some post-game puzzles that do force restrictions on you, but they're the exception). With the new DLC, plus Workshop support and the ability to create custom puzzles to just fool around with, I foresee this easily replacing SpaceChem as the game that I just keep coming back to.
It's like cooking m#th, but you are Harry Potter.
Went in, tryied to make an efficient system. "Oh I think I can make it one cycle quicker". One hour goes by, whole machine redisigned, and the process is indeed one cycle shorter. 10/10 would optimize again.
