About

The year is 198X, and you're a jobbing composer. You start out with nothing but a toy keyboard shaped like a tiger, and a brand new sequence-o-matic 4-track that your uncle bought from a shady geezer in the pub.
Word quickly spreads about the new producer on the block, and soon the commissions are rolling in. Things start humble, recording tracks for weddings, workout videos and corporate presentations, but before long you're getting asked to score fantasy movies, museum openings, and all kinds of crazy stuff.
Of course, you'll have to upgrade your kit along the way. Turns out, the local second-hand magazine is a treasure trove of objects that make interesting sounds, from singing garden gnomes and shredders-that-shred-sound-as-well-as-paper, to high-end synthesisers and musical effects. By the end, you'll have figured out a sound that's all your own.

But OFFBEAT isn't just a game. All the musical instruments are fully simulated, and the music you're recording is real. The game is secretly a complete audio production tool. Every piece of music you create in the game gets exported and saved locally on your computer as a WAV file, which you can use for whatever you want.
Music production can be costly and complex to get into, especially for beginners. We created OFFBEAT to lower barrier to entry and to offer a playful, low-pressure way to learn the basics of audio producion. The goal is just to be expressive and experimental, but by the end you'll have learned a little about synthesizers, sound design, composition and recording. Our hope is that when the game's finished, you'll have the confidence and expertise to carry on composing and recording music.

this game is so epic. genuinely kind of fire for making actual tunes and great for new ideas. the game looks so good and is just so much fun! couldn't recommend more,
Pretty fun little game, can definitely see this getting people into music production. Did encounter an annoying bug that wiped my entire song after clicking stop/play - I could still hear it but all the notes were gone. Probably a minor (lol get it) bug that'll be ironed out fairly quickly though I'd say. Get this if you like goofy toy instruments, music production, and being broke.
very cute fun game with minor bugs loving it so far
An extremely engaging way to learn simple sequencing and simple synthesis. Even if you're an ableton certified nerdballer, you'll still find fun in the limitations here, such as projects that are only 10 measures long with other requirements.
As a home producer this game is actually so cool. I have been wanting someone to make something like this for years and hope it inspires some people to make cool stuff!
Game is very peak very fun, would like to see something like being able to grade the songs you make? so instead of Cheesing it with just the requirments for each Job, the structure chords and instuments used ? something like that but so far very peak, Its so refreshing to have a game like this instead of learning how to use Fl studio or pay for something like that this game does it very well and is so easy to pick up and understand Would love to see a guitar or things like that or an actual drum set that would be so awesome 8/10 only problem is that I wish there was more <3
Great and fun music making game for people who don't know basically anything about music, but also there's the option to go deeper for people who really do. It slowly introduces more instruments and capabilities! :) really enjoying my time with the game
Creation is joy.
