DJ Life Simulator: Learn to DJ for Real

This game is absolutely wonderful and worth every penny!! I am playing it RIGHT NOW and it is teaching everything that I have been racking my brain around for weeks! This has been the best way for me to grasp all of the information that I have been watching tons of YouTube videos and asking musician friends around me, but with a Gamer mindset! Thank you so much to John Haste and the Day One Code Games team for creating the best way for all people to learn the many ways of DJing!!!

Meu principal objetivo ao jogar era aprender, e nesse aspecto ele já entregou exatamente o que eu esperava. Terminei todas as lições em menos de uma hora. Depois disso, continuei praticando durante uma tarde inteira e, quando percebi, já tinha passado horas jogando. Em determinado momento, comecei a colocar minhas próprias músicas para testar o que havia aprendido, e essa talvez tenha sido a maior prova de que o sistema de ensino realmente funciona. Até agora, já acumulei cerca de 8 horas de jogo e ainda nem entrei no modo principal. Isso pode parecer estranho para um jogo, mas, no meu caso, é justamente o maior elogio que posso fazer: eu não estava jogando apenas para avançar, vencer ou completar objetivos. Eu estava genuinamente aprendendo e me divertindo no processo. Se você compra um jogo esperando uma experiência tradicional, talvez passar várias horas nas lições antes de sequer tocar no modo principal pareça pouco progresso. Para mim, porém, o aprendizado era o objetivo principal. E, nesse sentido, o jogo tem cumprido muito bem o seu propósito.

Reach for the Lazers and forget about reality until dawn ! Great start to this game/ simulator/ trainer and it does exactly that, if you want to learn how to mix, this game really brings the juice. A few minor glitches but for an early access game the Devs have done a fantastic job on it's launch. Worth the price and also has "Streamer safe" tracks incorporated into it's library.

This is an Early Access Review and I will revise this for the full release. Firstly, is this game for you? It really depends on what you're after and what you have currently. Arguably, all you need is a decent music library and the purchase price, but that isn't the intended demographic. If you're eyeing this game at all, you likely have your own controller or have had the experiences of DJing in good old reality. So my review will mostly apply to the latter of the two demographics. That out of the way, is there value for the purchase price assuming you already have the right gear? Yes. First, let's discuss the positives. You get a very promising package for a relatively cheap entry price. You get music with the game (the game itself is already the price of a full album), a very robust audio analysis system for importing your own tracks, a career mode, a practice mode, an academy for learning techniques, and a store to customize your avatar. To contrast that to other industry software, unless you have your Pro Software included with your Hardware, you're looking at an additional $200ish one time or recurring monthly cost for either Serato or Rekordbox (yes there are more, these two are the most commonly used). While they may have more advanced features and are generally required at some point, they are a bit overkill for practicing at home. The audio analysis system included here is not perfect, but it is very promising and improving with every update. It features accurate key and BPM tracking though manual edits can be made in the user library when needed. The biggest gripe I have with the system is that it forgets tracks that have been uploaded once an update is applied. The developer is working on a way to maintain existing playlist data, so this will likely be addressed in the future. I've been importing smaller playlists at a time to lower my emotional attachment, and it's been working just fine. The career mode is fun in its own right and the academy is a decent method for learning fundemental mixing techniques. I hope that both will be improved with community feedback as it has the potential to be outstanding with the right quality of life changes. So with the positives out of the way, I'll touch on the negatives. I don't want to dwell on these since this is Early Access and I expect most of these will be addressed with how responsive the developer has been. - DJ scoring in Career mode is very rigid. This is fine for beginner DJs but there is no way for more experienced DJs to 'take off the training wheels' and do more ambitious things, at least in a way that the game scores for. - *Mentioned above* Updates remove user tracks/playlists - User tracks will sometimes have their selected genres disappear randomly - As of now, there is no way to headphone cue in the next track through a controller (Dev is working on this) - There is no easy restart button, yet (you need to fail or quit) - There is no way to disable the intro start video (yet) - XML data will sometimes not display user tracks correctly. Importing them via filename will work - Timestretching can sound artifact heavy Otherwise, I think this has the potential to be something truly great. Kudos to the developer!

FLX10 exit loop not working. FLAC files not supported. Game is SUPER short. Wait till they fix stuff and add more content before purchasing

As a complete beginner learning to DJ with absolutely no prior knowledge, I really enjoyed this. I played through all the tutorials and spent some time in Career Mode, and it helped me understand what each button on the DDJ-FLX4 actually does in a fun, hands-on way. I bought it through the website when it was announced, so it came with an additional course, which I'm really looking forward to starting. You can tell so much love and effort went into making this. Thank you for creating something that's genuinely educational while still being fun. I know what I'll be spending my weekends doing for the foreseeable future.

Je m'amuse beaucoup à découvrir le monde des DJs grâce à ce jeu! J'ai commencé avec la démo, sans matériel, juste mon clavier et ma souris et ça m'a tellement intéressé que j'ai acheté le jeu et un contrôleur basique, c'est vraiment très sympa, l'apprentissage est très bien fait. Par esprit critique j'ai cherché des vidéos qui apprenaient à être DJ sur youtube et le jeu semble ne manquer de rien à ce niveau. Bien sûr il y a des choses à peaufiner, le jeu étant encore en développement, mais c'est très prometteur!
